To be honost the difference between the colors ins't that obvious since you have a small building, so whichever you choose will be good.

Btw, the I changed that big door's textures, so now it don't look so dark like the previous pictures.

Now the problem will be making the roof.

    I wasnt using gmax much.

    But I have this update.

    w9iDd.jpg

Few problems I have, the way too large court, I will need to rotate those big arches more so they fill a larger area on the court, also try to make the small shops fit in the building, by adding others on the other side (the second picture) and modefying the textures.

The stairs need to take a larger space also so they can appear more obviously (in the first picture).

The shops look like if they were'nt a part of the building, they look like if I just plugged them in, what do you think?

So the part of the building that is on that picture is almost done, with few more parts to add, now I need to make the rest on my own, according to the corresponding architecture of the building.

What do you think about that part of the building with the triangular roof?

    Sadiki_Hospital_-_Tunis_-_Tunisia_-_1899.jpg

I wonder if that tower/minaret is a part of the building, or even if that that building with the triangular roof isnt a part of the hospital but a mosque :O

Wow, some interesting stuff you're making here! You're right, that bigger building might be a mosque, and the tower the minaret that belongs to it. Who knows, maybe it's one of those buildings that were often changed and used for different purposes during their "career"?

I'm just wondering about its proportions. If you look at the real-life photograph, the upper arched windows right and left of the main portal appear to be about three times as tall as they are wide - on your model the height/width ratio is more like 1.5 : 1. The entire structure looks a bit stubby in your BAT rendition. I suppose you don't have really precise references for the building dimensions, do you? Even without such precise references, I'd suggest scaling the building up on the Z axis (i.e., vertically) to capture its shape.

    Ty :D

Or maybe that hospital have a mosque section in it, like in univercities at some time, there used to be a section used as a mosque so the students can do their prayers at time, maybe that mosque was a part of the hospital?

Or maybe just a mosque, and the building with the big arches is the hospital, like that multi-functional buildings.

After finishing the BAT, I'll make that mosque part as a seperate building that you can use too, also the minaret.

The size of the upper arched windows look like they need some more height, I didnt notice that.

I'll try to make their height bigger, but that will need a mess to make.

But I tried to make the sizes more as a simcity not a real life, so it fits with the maxis sizes.

Take a look at the shops that have a normal height of roof, while the rest have kinda high roofs, that's something usual with the old public buildings.

I agree that it look kinda thick somehow, esspecially that mosque part.

Any suggestions? Besides increasing the height (on the Z axe).

It's a little late to modify the height of that building with the triangular roof, my gmax is being too slow and as I said that will need a mess.

Does it look good as it is? Does it fit? What do you think?

I really like these IL! Your creations are all very detailed :D. However, I do agree that it looks a bit flat, but besides scaling on Z axis I don't know how else to make it look taller besides providing something shorter for comparison.

    I always found mosques fascinating.

You may still try to look one more time at the cube-shaped buiding with the green pyramidal roof, as the real life version has a distinct and thick white band between the arches and the tiled pyramid. This may similarly help slightly with the proportions for the building. BTW, it seems that the cubical building is a mausoleum for Youssef Dey and his family in honor of his work in building the original mosque, which among other names is called the Mosque of Youssef Dey. Mosques of this time period tended to become vast, agglomerative social centers, with numerous anciliary buildings and additions for schools, hospitals, barracks, ablution structures, and even tombs. I am not sure which part in the photo is the mosque and which is the hospital, though descriptions suggest the hospital was converted from a former Turkish barracks, while large arcaded enclosures tend to be part of defining the communal prayer space for a mosque, and all of this scene are now part of the complex of Sadiki hospital and university. As the cubical building here is a mausoleum for an important person, some degree of exaggerated scale and detail is natural and expected.

    @IDS2:

    Ty :D

Well I'll make something smaller next to it later when it's done.

    @Odainsaker:

I didnt notice that, that will correct the height problem :D

That was really helpfull informations :O

How did you know all that?

I'm guessing the building with the large arches is the hospital part.*

Large hospitals used to have libraries in them, and few classes, for the medical students, so they can also study by the hospital patients, as you said, mosques ( or more like the public builings) used to be multifunctional, as in univercities there always used to be a small mosque part for students to pray in time and don't waste time on going to the mosque and coming back and etc...

Btw, do you have any idea on how old is this building?

Did you get those informations online?

I'm guessing you're a fan of old stuff (I am).

I found those few pictures of Tunis in 1837.

    tunisen1837.jpg

    & this one in 1853.

    tunisen1853.jpg

I found those great pictures of Tunis in 1900.

So I have this problem here, and it's propably the reason why I can't export the model.

I minimized the size of the model just to export it faster, for testing, and when I merge the model into a new scene, this is what I get, alot of free space, that there's something in their, I can't find, no it's not any small tiny box or something to delete just like that, so I don't know what's in there, or what's the problem? Is there anyway that I can only take the model that I need, without those "things" in that big empty box? What can be there? I did also try to open a new scene, and select "leave only objects" or something like that, and I still have the same problem.

    Any ideas pleas?

So when I extract the file, and go to see it on lot editor, I get a confused model, I get some random, errored maxis buildings, instead of my own building, however, if I zoom back 3 times, I can see my building. So I guessed that the problem is that what I asked about, since I already refited the LODs and restarted the lights and cameras and such things...

have you tried right click unhide all, unfreeze all, select the "empty areas" around your model you may have some objects that you delete all the vertices but not the object so it still there however invisible or you may have tiny objects nos visible at plain sight.
