Today I counted 43 tabs open across two browsers (FF4 & GC11), that number has dropped back down to 17.

How many do you have open at the moment? And what is your record for most tabs at once.

I think the most I've ever had was 10 although right now I only have 1.

When archive binging while going on forums, I can have so many tabs across up to 4 windows that I lose count.

Usually three of four tabs at once and if I'm not using the web I close the browser. The most is about ten, usually for assignment work.

Depends how long I've been on TvTropes, or how many fanfics I'm reading. Generally it ranges from 2 to over 20. Currently it's 6 (4 different ST pages, Equestria Daily, and DeviantArt).

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

At the moment, one. Sometimes, when I am working on a project, I might have as many as three or four. Tab management is something I don't care to mess with.

I guess I come from an era where computer resources were so precious you kept things to a minimum. You have described what I would call an abuse of the kernel.

The only reason I had so many was because I was testing a site, in the middle of a conversation on a forum and I'm a moderator over at another forum. I am back down to seven tabs over two browsers.

I have two tabs open at the moment. I have this thing with tabs that I also have with windows: I don't like having so many of them open at once the size of the tabs starts to crunch. Once they exceed the width of the screen at normal size and start getting smaller, I start looking to weed the collection and close the ones I don't really need open at the moment.

And it's funny. When I first heard of tabbed browsing, I thought "wow, what a useless feature. Why not just open another window if you really need to look at two websites at once?". Then once you get the ability and start using it it becomes a habit and you can't stop!

My other tab at the moment is something I need to attend to later and am just holding onto until I get to it. In the olden days, I would have taken care of it before I went to do other things or closed it and navigated back to the page later.

As for pinned tabs, I don't have any. I have Windows Explorer (Libraries...) pinned on my taskbar but that's it. I might have others, but Windows 7 has this annoying thing where it keeps pinned programs in order even when they're not all open. So if I had two things pinned, whenever I had the left one open but not the right one, the right one would be hanging closed in the middle of my open windows, which is downright unsightly. I could manually move it over, sure, but having to do that every time takes more effort than it's worth. Especially since you can just pin things to your start menu...

Two right now, which is unusual for me. I didn't even know you could pin a tab.

145 Tabs open. The fruits of an entire quarter of trying to slack off on the internet, until realizing I have wayyy too much work to do, so I just saved the tabs for later.

    Proof:

    alltabsout.png

(The first two tab groups are duplicates, due to how Chrome saves tabs when you close it)

    Window 1:

Most of the time I only have 15 or so tabs that actually have something other than a "not connected to internet" warning. I disconnect my Ethernet cable before opening up Chrome.

:dead: That don't makes your computer slow? I say, I was thinking in 15 tabs is too much, but 145 in 7 windows is just strange.

:dead: That don't makes your computer slow? I say, I was thinking in 15 tabs is too much, but 145 in 7 windows is just strange.

Well, as I said, most of the tabs display a "Cannot Connect to Internet" error, since I don't connect to the internet until after I've opened all the tabs. In this state, the tabs only take about a megabyte of memory each, instead of the usual 20+. So my computer still runs fairly well. If the computer starts to get slow, I can use Chrome's built in task manager to kill off the tabs I'm not using, freeing up some memory for the other tabs.

Anyways, I had just downloaded Opera to try it out, I was kind of bored and curious, and I decided I hadn't tortured my laptop nearly enough  , so I thought I'd look at how much memory each browser would use for a given amount of tabs. Opening the 5 browsers I had really caused my laptop to stutter, but it still managed to open them all.

    othertabs.jpg

Here's the tabs I had opened in each browser. I had also closed 7 other tabs in Opera, so it had 12 tabs open at some point.

    memtab.jpg

The memory usage of each browser as reported by Chrome. At this time, I had about 140 tabs open, but only 13 of them were actually displaying a webpage. (Really shouldn't have resized that picture or used jpeg...)

    usemem.png

    Memory usage after running {minimem}

    aftermem.png

...And another image 2 minutes after running minimum, to check for memory leaks.

Really need to upgrade to IE9 and FF4.

I had a disaster with tabbing a few days ago. Result of TvTropes, FanFiction.net, Wikipedia, random other sites, Google and DevaintArt all open at once. I had a lot of each, about 67 tabs in total. It completely overwhelmed/crashed my poor iBook G4.

Four. It can get up to about 25 at times, but usually no more than 4 or 5. Very often it will be just one or two tabs. If I have Hypem open I pin that, otherwise I don't pin tabs.

With Windows 7, I have 8 applications pinned to the taskbar and I like the fact that they stay in the same order all the time.

    Too many!

And what they contain is nobody's business!

Ok, I concede slightly. I always have a bunch of tabs open to various sites I frequent, such as ArchDaily, Skyscrapercity, Facebook, various news sources, this site, etc. But yeah, the rest are none of your concern...

I have 3 open right now which is kind of unusual for me. I usually have 5 or 6. I try to weed them every once in a while though. The most I've had is probably 15-20, when I was searching for jobs (just kept opening new job opportunities in new tabs).
