I know, I know.. I haven't been keeping this City Journal updated much.. And whatever updates there were, were mostly videos or replies to your comments.. But..

That changes today! Today there's an actual update.. And, I might add, a very special one at that! You'll see why soon enough, but first; let's go to the personal replies!

Note: The actual update will be on the next page, since I felt it would be a waste of page space to start a huge update on the last post for page 24.. Sorry for the double post, but hey.. It's for a good cause, right?

    Personal Replies:

Jerebannus XVI: Thanks for your comment, Phil! As for that story about Cordovia.. I needed to fill some space and was in a good mood, so I thought I'd add something funny to the otherwise very serious newspaper.. 2.gif By the way, look at the picture for the travel section and the country it's meant to represent.. I just had to get something in for laughs this time.. Again: thanks!

Bokrif: Thanks for leaving your comment, Bokrif! I'm not sure about your idea concerning inter-CJ events.. Having it this way keeps people interested in many different CJ's at the same time.. Although creating a thread where you could post newspapers from your CJ might be a good idea.. 19.gif

Leech10: Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Leech10! 44.gif

Cityhawk: Thanks, Cityhawk! Glad to hear you liked the newspaper! 48.gif

Tracker: I'm not quite sure what to make of your comment, Tracker 42.gif, but nevertheless thanks for posting it! 9.gif

Ginchael: Thank you for leaving your comment, Ginchael! Times they are a changing all over the CJ world actually! 16.gif

Chocolatemax285: Thanks for your comment, Choco! I have to say that I'm a big fan of inter-CJ developments and there's more coming up in the update on the next page.. As far as I'm concerned, there's going to be a lot more of it in the future! As for Green Depra being an enemy of Chaumont, I think that's impossible.. Who would want to fight such a beautiful country? Again: thanks for commenting! 29.gif

Inquisitor: Thanks for your comment, Inquisitor! Like I said to Chocolatemax285, I really like to develop story lines between CJ's and it seems like there are many other CJ'ers who are more than happy to do the same.. As for that picture concerning the roads, I got that from a very juvenile humour site at www.dumpalink.com.. I happened to stumble across it and immediately decided that it had to go into the Imperial Times sooner or later..

Nik-nik: Thank you for your comment, Nik-nik! I'm glad to hear you liked the newspaper and that picture.. I had a good laugh when I found it, so I thought I'd share it with you all.. As for espionage satelites.. What makes you think Chaumont has them? 2.gif We'll just keep trying alternative means to locate Cordovia..

Dr. Frickenstein: Thanks for commenting, Dr. Frickenstein! 5.gif

Goldfish4209: Glad to hear you liked the road, Goldfish4209! I'm sure people who'd have to drive that to work every day would disagree with you.. 3.gif

Fabiocb: Thanks for your comment, Fabiocb!

Elmar0: Thank you for leaving your comment, Elmar0!

Again, thank you for your comments, everybody!

Just a little Reminder: Update 24 is on Page 25.. Enjoy!

Today's update will revolve completely around the state visit of King Owain Glyndwr IV of New Rhodesia! If you're wondering where the personal replies to your comments are, I've decided to post that on the last post in Page 24.. Welcome to Page 25, everybody!

Now, let's go live to INN's coverage of the State Visit, shall we?

    Update24.jpg

    INN-Intro.jpg

Jerry Jumper: ... and it is expected the UN will dispatch special investigators to locate the two missing states..

Now, we go live to Mont Napoleon International Airport for an INN Special Report surrounding the state visit of King Owain Gl.. Glind.. Glend.. ahum.. the state visit of the King of New Rhodesia.. Hovering above the scene is INN's trusted 'eye in the sky' Dennis Chopper.. Dennis?

    INN-WelcomeCeremony1.jpg

Dennis Chopper: Hi Jerry, Da Bnawn! to all our Welsh visitors and welcome to this INN Special Report covering the state visit of King Owain Gly.. n.. d.. w.. r.. Phew.. Now there's a set of consonants I've never seen behind one another to form an actual last name! Anyhoo, the king's plane, known as Rhodesian Airforce One, touched down on the asphalt of Mont Napoleon some twenty minutes ago and it seems as though the doors are opening..

    INN-WelcomeCeremony2.jpg

Dennis Chopper: Two Royal Guardsmen have just exited the plane and have taken up guard positions next to the exit ramp.. I'm sure that if they try anything funny, the Imperial Guard will be able to deal with them swiftly, given that they're completely outnumbered..

Ahum.. I'm just kidding ofcourse, ladies and gentlemen..

This state visit is all in the interest of the Empire's continued commitment to developing it's relations with states around the world and the recent warming up between Chaumont and the SCJU..

    INN-WelcomeCeremony3.jpg

Dennis Chopper: The King's plane is labelled 'New Rhodesia' in green, with a small flag of Wales, to clearly indicate the native state of the plane. The logo on the tail end is actually the New Rhodesian Royal Crest, featuring four lions and apparently dating back to the late Middle Ages.. For more information on the New Rhodesian Royal Family, be sure to watch 'Royalty Room' with David Bartlet later today.. As we wait for the King and the Emperor to enter the motorcade, we go back to you, Jerry..

    INN-Guards.jpg

Jerry Jumper: The New Rhodesian Royal Guard arrived a few days before King Owain IV, in preparation of today's parade. Here we see them alongside their Chaumontian colleagues, greeting the Emperor as he made his daily inspection of the troops at Bastide Palace this morning. Sources near the Emperor report that he is very impressed with the Royal Guard and is looking forward to the upcoming parade..

Ah, it appears as though the motorcade has started moving, so we go back to Dennis Chopper..

    INN-Travel1.jpg

    Dennis Chopper: That's right, Jerry..

The motorcade has just departed the airport and is now taking the shortest route to Calignac House, the Imperial Palace. The Imperial Police has adviced commuters and motorists to stay away from the city centre for the upcoming hours and it seems as though many people have taken that advice to heart.. The Imperial Railway Company announced that it had a 300 percent increase in commuters today and delays were substantial..

    INN-Travel2.jpg

Dennis Chopper: Ahead of the motorcade, dozens of police officers on motorcycles are clearing the streets and roads of the capital to make sure that the King and the Emperor arrive safely. Security measures are of immense proportions, unlike anything I've ever seen before..

Given the recent deterioration of relations between New Rhodesia and Pakkusena, threats from the Combattenti Contro Unito terrorist organization and ofcourse Chaumont's experience with assassination attempts, these actions appear to be justified..

    INN-Travel3.jpg

Dennis Chopper: The motorcade is being escorted by five police cruisers and takes up both traffic lanes, to ensure that no vehicles accidentally slip in between. At the moment, the cars can be seen crossing the Marshal Berthier Bridge into the Mont Napoleon citadel..

    INN-Travel4.jpg

Dennis Chopper: The King, as most other visiting heads of state, will be adressing the students at Mont Napoleon University sometime tomorrow, after which he will be inspecting the troops stationed and studying at the Imperial Military Academy.

The New Rhodesian Excalibur, New Rhodesia's leading newspaper, released a segment of the King's speech yesterday and has indicated that the King looked forward to his visit and expects to have much to talk about with the Emperor..

    INN-Travel5.jpg

Dennis Chopper: The Museum of Imperial Arts is on the schedule for tomorrow as well, where the King and the Emperor will be visiting the exhibition 'Chaumont and the Outside World', dealing with Chaumont's relationships with foreign countries.

A section of the exhibition is dedicated to King Owain's great-grandfather, who was aparently very much in favour of the recognition of Chaumont as an independent state. Unfortunately Queen Victoria of England was reluctant at that proposal and the King's ancestor did not see his proposal realized during his lifetime..

    INN-Travel6.jpg

Dennis Chopper: Also on the itinerary for tomorrow is a laying of wreaths at the Napoleon II Memorial to commemorate the fallen soldiers and citizens of both nations during numerous wars..

By the way, if you're wondering why there are so few people on the streets: that is mainly because the Imperial Chancellor released a statement yesterday, encourageing people to attend the parade only, to prevent the streets of Mont Napoleon from being clogged up from the airport down to the centre..

    INN-Travel7.jpg

Dennis Chopper: The Imperial Chancellor is expected to join the King and the Emperor tonight for the State Dinner at Calignac House. Aparently King Owain has made some remarks along the lines of 'helping Chaumont become more democratic'. This has sparked the interest of the Emperor as well as the Chancellor and many of INN's leading political experts expect this will be discussed extensively over dinner..

    INN-Travel8.jpg

Dennis Chopper: Oh my.. Looks like someone at the Imperial Police has been sleeping on the job and allowed this grey car to drive in front of the motorcade. Somebody will definitely be demoted a rank or two over this.. Fortunately the driver appears to acknowledge his mistake and is turning away from the motor..

What? Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, I'm being contacted by the INN News Centre.. Ah.. I see..

It appears that this car belongs to the New Rhodesian Intelligence Agency and took a wrong turn somewhere.. From what I hear, they were supposed to end up behind the motorcade.. Well, it seems that someone's intelligence reports on the streets of Mont Napoleon are flawed.. We switch back to Jerry Jumper now..

    INN-Palace.jpg

Jerry Jumper: Thank you for your report so far, Dennis.. If you're wondering why the INN banners at the bottom of your screen read 'Jerry Jumper' instead of 'Dennis Chopper' while Dennis was reporting, we apologize.. There appear to be some technical difficulties.. Fortunately they are not disrupting our regular broadcast, so let's proceed to the next segment of the visit..

The King and the Emperor have just entered Calignac House, where they will be having lunch in preparation for today's parade. As you can see, the main entrance hall of the palace is lined with Imperial Guardsmen, standing at attention..

According to the Imperial News Agency, the King and the Emperor will be having some chicken soup, a variety of sandwiches and several glasses of whatever beverage they prefer. As you no doubt understand, this is a private occassion and will not be recorded by our cameras. For now, this has been an INN Special Report. Be sure to return in approximately half an hour for more news..

    * Half an hour passes.*

    INN-Library.jpg

Jerry Jumper: Welcome back to this INN Special Report, covering the State Visit of the King of New Rhodesia.

A few minutes ago, the motorcade briefly departed the Imperial Palace and stopped a few hundred meters down the road at the Imperial Library, where King Owain IV was greeted by the curator and several staff members and was given a special tour by the Emperor himself. We have been allowed to film inside the library, but were not permitted to record any sounds.

Our cameraman at the scene has informed us that the King appeared to be very impressed with the Emperor's collection of books on Democracy, Law and History and has made several requests for copies to be sent to New Rhodesia..

While we wait for the King and the Emperor to arrive at Parade Avenue, we can report that the podium has just been given it's finishing touches and troops from Chaumont and New Rhodesia are starting to arrive.. Once the King and the Emperor appear, we will be switching back to Dennis Chopper, INN's helicopter reporter..

    INN-Parade1.jpg

Dennis chopper: Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.. The 'Frenhinol Airal chan Rhodesia Newydd Dinas', better known and much easier to pronounce as the 'Royal Guard of New Rhodesia', is dressed in the full gala uniform, which consists of a bright white shirt, dark green overcoat with red and gold epaulletes, black trousers and white gloves. The Imperial Guard is clad in it's usual colors.

To the right of the podium, left to the viewer, are four regiments of the Emperor's personal Palace Guard and to the left, right for the viewer, are four regiments of the King's Bodyguards, curiously dressed in similar colors as the Royal Guard.

    INN-Parade2.jpg

Dennis Chopper: As I mentioned earlier, the New Rhodesian soldiers arrived in Chaumont several days before the King, preparing for this particular parade. From what I can see from up here, they appear to be marching very nicely, but I'm sure that our reporter down at the scene, Brian Atkins, can shed some more light on this situation..

    INN-General-Palaceguard.jpg

Brian Atkins: I'm not sure wether I'm the right man to shed more light on their marching performance, Dennis, but I'm standing next to a man who can most certainly judge it: General Jaques Marchand, commander of the Emperor's Palace Guard and quite possibly the next Grand Marshal of the Imperial Guard..

General, what do you think of the New Rhodesian Royal Guard?

General Marchand: I've had the privilege of seeing these men and women marching in their daily uniforms yesterday and I was quite impressed with their performance, but seeing them in their dress uniforms today, I must admit they look and march spendidly. Ofcourse they don't even come close to the Imperial Guard's finesse, but I have to say they are very, very impressive..

Brian Atkins: Thank you, General.. Back to you Dennis!

    INN-Parade3.jpg

Dennis Chopper: Thanks, Brian.. As you can see, the podium upon which the King and the Emperor are standing is decorated with the flag of the two nations and draped with the 'All hail the Emperor' banner.

Aparently a different banner was meant to be hanging on the podium, but a fire, which broke out this morning at a warehouse in Brumaire, destroyed the banner and it's copies. Due to time constraints, this familiar banner was put up to ensure the King and the Emperor receive plenty of support from the people gathered to watch the parade..

    INN-Trip1.jpg

Dennis Chopper: Sources close to the Palace have indicated to INN that the Emperor has a special surprise waiting for King Owain, which has been the subject of much speculation in Chaumontian and New Rhodesian newspapers for the past few days. The motorcade has started moving again..

    INN-Trip2.jpg

Dennis Chopper: Interestingly, the Emperor never invites visiting heads of state to his work palace, which we see right here. From what we've been able to assess over the years, the Emperor does not want anyone to see where he works because of security risks and because it is obviously a potential treasure chest for foreign intelligence agencies. The King of New Rhodesia is no exception and also hasn't been invited to enter the Grand Hall of the Empire..

But hey, at least they get to pass it, right?

    INN-Trip3.jpg

Dennis Chopper: As I said earlier, the Imperial Chancellor indicated that during the arrival of the King, the citizens of Mont Napoleon and supporters of the monarchy should try to stay away from the streets as much as possible up to start the parade.

Fortunately many people took that advice to heart and are probably watching this broadcast as we speak, but ofcourse there are also a lot of people out and about, eager to see the King and the Emperor sitting next to eachother in the car. The surprise prepared for the King is drawing closer and closer as the motorcade prepares to turn onto Marshal Sacrebleu avenue..

    INN-Trip4.jpg

Dennis Chopper: The surprise, as many people expected, is a statue of Owain Glyndwr, the leader of an unsuccesful Welsh rebellion against England, though ultimately his desire for an independent Wales has been fulfilled by his descendant, the current King of New Rhodesia, Owain Glyndwr IV..

Brian Atkins, at the scene, can you see the King?

Brian Atkins: Yes, I can, Dennis.. From what I can see, the King, with a big smile on his face, is shaking hands with the Emperor.. From what we've been told by the Imperial News Agency, this square in Mont Napoleon will henceforth be known as Owen Glendower square, the angliced name of Owain Glyndwr, and a replica of the statue will be shipped to New Rhodesia as soon as possible..

Back to the studio now, with Jerry Jumper..

    INN-Intro.jpg

Jerry Jumper: Thank you, Brian and thank you Dennis for your wonderful coverage of the first day of King Owain Glyndwr's visit to Chaumont. We once again apologize for the technical difficulties, but nevertheless hope you've enjoyed this INN Special Report.

From INN Center in Mont Napoleon, I'm Jerry Jumper.. Goodbye..

That's it for today's update, everybody! The statue of Owain Glyndwr will probably be on the STEX tonight or tomorrow, but for now, you'll have to do with the picture of it.. I hope you've enjoyed the update and I look forward to hearing what you thought of it! 48.gif

    *Jaw drops tenfold*

OM Sweet Jesus! Absolutely incredible! You have done New Rhodesia proud! Let the strong relations between New Rhodesia and Chaumont endure for eternity!

The guards are highly impressive! As is your dedication to the minor details of the Welsh flag and coat of arms on the plane, and the backstory.

LOL at the pronounciation of Glyndŵr! (For those uncertain, it's pronounced Glin-door) trilling the R.

The statue is gorgeous, but it left me wanting to see it at all angles and at night! *That was clever of you*2.gif

The New Rhodesia Bureau of Investigation denies all statements claiming it was present during the visit, and says any claims or perceptions of it's involvement are grossly exagerrated. Go figure!3.gif

I'm so glad the visit has gone on well and that the Emperor is intrigued at a more democratic Chaumont in the future. This is of great appeasement to his majesty. Who has long stood against tyranny. I guess he see's something very special in Chaumont.

The Parade was glorious, and i must say the Chaumont Guard and the Royal New Rhodesian Guard contrast well in those shots, they seem to compliment each other very well indeed. Nicely done. Very sexy!

Oh my... ok here I go...

Update #23: I seriously thought I had commented, but it doesn't appear so... 7.gif  Anyways, hilarious newpaper!  18.gif The part I liked best was the bumpy road, which SO like Simcity... I get that all the time!  18.gif

Update #24: Absolutely AMAZING! 6.gif  Flawless presentation, and the announcer's patter was realistic... 5.gif probably the first person to tell you THAT... I loved the screens, the added graphics were really realistic, and we got to see a bit of your city road-front at every turn!  All in all, great work!

P.S. Btw... I switched to an account named CDI_spy.  I used to hold this account before I started the SYM Productions Global User (used by the three founders, that's why we sign our names at the bottom), and now I return to the personal account, now that SYMP has grown beyond 30 members... 48.gif

Wow.. Thanks for all the replies, everyone!

I'm really grateful for your support! And, since I was feeling inspired today, I not only created another edition of the Imperial Times, but a special surprise I think you might enjoy as well!

I'll reply to your comments and then straight to today's little update..

Personal Replies: (By the way, I plan to replace this with a nice graphic sooner or later.. Trust me.. 2.gif )

6underground: Haha.. I'm very glad to hear you enjoyed the update and that you feel it has done New Rhodesia proud.. That was exactly what I was aiming for ofcourse.. 2.gif I hope you'll enjoy your plane, your soldiers and your statue and hope we can one day turn the tables around and let the Emperor visit New Rhodesia.. As for the New Rhodesian Bureau of Investigation, all I have to say about that is that the men in the car spoke English with a very 'peculiar' accent and sprayed the investigating officers while talking.. It was pretty obvious from the get-go.. But we forgive you.. 3.gif

Kwakelaar: Thanks for your comment, Kwakelaar! Again very much appreciated! 9.gif

Jasperdeman.nl: Thanks for your continued support, Jasper! To answer your question: Chaumont currently has an ambassadorial seat in the SCJU, which (simply put) means that we are allowed to observe the SCJU from close-up. The option of joining the SCJU is being kept open.. 9.gif

Mayormommy: Haha.. Well, I had to promise 6Underground that I wouldn't kill off his king, but I just couldn't resist putting in a teensy tiny bit of tension.. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by and thanks even more for commenting!

Fischbob: Thanks for your comment, Fischbob! You're not the first person to make that suggestion, but I never grow tired of hearing it! 48.gif Thanks for stopping by!

As for your updates, don't talk yourself down like that! Dominea is wonderful! And most of the things you're able to do with Photoshop are still beyond my reach.. 9.gif Though not for long as far as I'm concerned.. 18.gif

Nik-nik: Haha.. I think I'm going to keep the missing countries as a bit of a running gag, Nik-nik.. Can be very funny if exploited right.. I have to think it through some more.. 9.gif Thank you very much for your wonderful comment and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed yourself! Oh, and expect to see more of General Marchand in today's little update.. 1.gif

This is definately one of the greatest CJ's on Simtropolis. Not just for the city, but for the amount of work put into Chaumont with the media, newspapers, crowds, etc. 44.gif
