Hey all! Thanks for all your wonderful comments! I'm really glad to hear you've all enjoyed the video, because that means that you're probably going to enjoy today's update as well!

Does that mean a new video is coming up? 42.gif

    Indeed! 39.gif

For the past few days, I've been recording new animations in Simcity, created several animated gif's and then tried to make a movie.. However, this time my computer protested and nearly shut down under the pressure.. The problem were the animated gif's, who were simply taking up too much memory space. I checked the task monitor while I was importing gif's into the movie maker and the memory usage almost shot through the roof!

For a moment I was at my wits end, until I realized that Animation Shop also allows you to export animations into AVI's.. I fiddled around a bit with the settings and actually turned all the animated gif's into avi's.. The avi's were all about a quarter of the size of the original gif's.. 43.gif So, from now on, no more animated gif's for me..

In any case, the video you're about to see is based off some of my earliest memories of classical music.. Whenever I was watching a Warner Brothers Cartoon with a sunrise, there was the music 'Morning Suite' by Edvard Grieg.. I decided that I could do the exact same thing, but this time for Chaumont..

As far as I'm concerned this is the best movie I've made so far.. I've also uploaded it to the website where I uploaded the previous video, so you can watch it in different sizes and download it to see it in Full Screen..

The title of the movie is 'Imperial Dawn' and you'll see why as soon as you get to see it.. 2.gif (Turn your speakers up for the best experience! 9.gif)

    Imperial Dawn

Click the link above to see the movie.. I hope you'll enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it! 48.gif

Now, last, but not least, the personal replies!

    Personal Replies:

Louisville327: Thanks for your comment, Louisville327! Who knows? Maybe someday I'll hit a barrier.. 18.gif For now, we'll just keep steaming straight ahead at full speed.. 9.gif

Gridlock: Thanks for commenting, Gridlock! I'm a big fan of Cossacks II as well.. It's a shame the game has so many bugs, but hey.. I'll make up for it in Simcity.. 44.gif

Dr. Frickenstein: Thank you for your comments, Dr. Frickenstein! And more you'll get!

BourneID: Thanks for your comments, BourneID! The work is indeed a lot more than the usual time it takes to insert static screenshots, but it has indeed been well worth the effort.. Again, I would like to thank you for putting the idea in my head! As for your second comment, like I said above, the gif's are huge size-wise, but their quality is indisputable.. The AVI's are a good second choice, but the quality is slightly reduced.. I'm not able to export them as mov's or mpeg's, but that doesn't matter.. The avi's are handled a lot better by the Windows Movie Maker, so I'm definitely not complaining..

Pepsi71Ocean: Thanks for the comments, Pepsi71Ocean! As for the embassies, I'm a little confused, because I thought the Phoenix Empire was in an alternate universe situation.. If that isn't the case, than I misunderstood and I wouldn't mind exchanging embassies..

JerebannusXVI: I'm glad to hear you were able to see the video, Phil! And even better to hear you enjoyed it! Thanks for your comments! I hope you've enjoyed 'Imperial Dawn' as well..

Shadow_Assassin: Thanks for commenting, SA! I will try to do my best to keep it up! 16.gif

Threeswept: Thank you for your comment, Threeswept! I'll see what I can do about including men and women in black leather in my next video! 3.gif

Tracker: Tracker, the effect is basically another layer of the same image, but with slightly elevated contrast and a radiated fade effect.. When the two layers are combined, you get that which you've seen so far.. As for your second comment, I'm not sure what you mean by nr. 1, do you mean for Chaumont to join the SCJU or to establish diplomatic relations with them? I have been asked to join the SCJU, but I didn't think that was a good idea, given Chaumont's political signature.. As for Wikipedia.. Thanks! I knew that for some time, but always good to hear it's still on there! 9.gif

Equilibria: Thanks for commenting, Equilibria! I'm glad to hear you liked the airport.. I'm still trying to get used to it..

Oroen: Thank you for leaving your comment, Oroen! Good to hear you enjoyed the video and all the aspects of Chaumont.. A lot more coming up in the future!

Slann: Thanks for returning for another comment, Slann! I hope you got to see the video after you posted your reply.. I've been a bit busy indeed, so Chaumont can sometimes drift on and off of page 1 of the CJ section.. Fortunately the commenters keep her on page 1 every now and then.. 9.gif As for your PM, I think I got it, but I'm not sure if I replied.. I think I did, but that may have ended up somewhere in the Simtropolis Black Hole.. I'll make sure I send you a reply tonight.. Thanks for the well wishes.. Same here! 19.gif

6Underground: Sexy, eh? Now there's a phrase I haven't heard before when anyone was describing Chaumont.. 9.gif Thanks for your wonderful comment! The monument you were inquiring about is the Washington Monument.. As for a visit of HRH, Chaumont is looking forward to it! In fact, I've already begun to search my Hornblower DVD's for some good shots that might appear in a future update.. (You'll hear from me in a PM soon..) Again: Thanks, 6U!

The boy formerly known as Evil Muzz: Wow.. Now there's a long username.. 3.gif You can find all the details regarding Chaumont's government on page 1, but basically Chaumont is a undemocratic empire with some democratic institutions to keep up the appearance of a working democracy.. (Hard to describe, but you'll understand after watching the second update on page 1.. 9.gif) As for embassies, Chaumont is always interested in exchanging embassies..

Leech10: Thanks for your comment, Leech10!

Goldfish4209: The taxiway between the runways is because that's the only way planes that land on the outermost runway can reach the main terminals.. Thanks for commenting!

ChocolateMax285: Thanks for leaving your comment, Choco! I think the ambassador might have to wait for a while, but hey.. When I keep pushing out these movies, I don't think anyone will complain.. 9.gif

Kwakelaar: Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment, Kwakelaar! If you enjoyed the last video, I think you'll enjoy this one too!

Inquisitor: Thanks for introducing page 23, Inquisitor! And thanks for commenting!

Sloppet: Thanks for your comment, Sloppet! Did you see the video?

Nik-nik: Thank you for your comment, Nik-nik! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the update and the video!

Elmar0: Thanks for leaving your comment, Elmar0! I really enjoy making these videos, so expect to see more of them in the future! For the mean time, I hope you've enjoyed 'Imperial Dawn' as well!

That's it for today, everybody! I hope you enjoyed the video!

    - You got a Trixie.
    - I listened Chaumont in my signature.

Deliciously oppressive3.gif that tasted really nice, what a nice meal for breakfast, lol. Jarno, you have out done yourself completely this time. This is a totally new record. I  was so impressed. I totally loved it, what a fantastic piece of work. I love it and i think Simtropolis should have a virtual museum where masterpieces like these which are usually carefully crafted should go to. It is the Imperial Dawn indeed. Wow, wow, wow.......................

I really have no words to describe the video, it simply is amazingly stunning.!!!!! wow, great, great. 1.gif

The Phoenix Empire exists on earth, and is now colonising foreign planets like mars and another planet nemed Earthtron. well that somewhat a lie the Triple Alliance is annexing earthtron. its all the same.

EDIT: Jarno i love the videos you need to teach me how to do that!

EDIT: Jan 13, Were're sorry jarno but the Phoenix Goverment has been suspended. And riots are breaking out. Were're sorry but an internal investigation has ordered the congress suspended.
Bottom line: untill further notice we are unable to exchange diplomatic relations until some internal and external matters are cleared up.

This is a fantastic CJ, the cities themselves are spectacular, and the back stories are so imaginative. In particular, the video clips are impressive, I don't think I've seen them in any other journal.

One question - What music have you used for the 'Recent Events in Chaumont' film? I admire your the use of music in the videos, especially synchronising the events on the screen with the phrasing of the music, which was most impressive during the dawn sequence with the Grieg.

You even managed to find a Norwegian piece of music just for me43.gif Uuah, I guess not just for me.

This is indeed your best video so far.
The beginning with the nature, animals and then the steamtrain, very well done.
For some serious CJ-ing Chaumont is the place to be.

I shall say that I've been touched to the bottom of my heart when watching the Imperial Dawn - it was certainly one of the best things... no the best one what I have seen in relation to SC4. This surpasses every limits made by the game - one can really forget that it's a game.

You have totally changed the meaning of the term City Journal - this is not a CJ like others, but a place for a true artistic expression... This is absolutely outstanding !!! And I did not choose the name by hasard - this CJ really stands out !!!

    Yours sincerely,
    Simbourgeois
    Mayor of Belleville

P.S. It would be really great if you would make a video with The Hall of the Mountain Hill... Oooh, the Imperial Dawn makes me dream 46.gif - when writing this post, I was listening to this wonderful music again and again...

Great movie yet again. About the AVI's...that was sorta the point I was trying to get at....I am not to familure with animationshop, but in photoshop you are able to export an animated gif to several diffrent formatts such as MPEG4,avi,pixar,mov. and many more. Movie maker can handle them better the a animated gif.

The video was a great watch mate! I just loved your choice in the music, it was beautifully designed! You should be proud.

The paper was great as well, I enjoyed reading the stories, particularily the international ones, I've been thinking about joining the SCJU, and I might just now. Well done! 9.gif
