Hi. Well, first things first: Congratulations on producing such a fantastic City Journal! Not only is the city itself extremely beautiful and well-constructed, but it also looks extremely realistic (something I wish that I could achieve). The Imperial style of it all, the epic marble buildings, gardens and plazas all look gorgeous and fit in perfectly with the idea of an Imperial Napoleonic-esque state. Oh yeah, and the stories that accompany it fit in great, and are gripping too!!!! *Takes hat off*

Right, after all those compliments, here's where I act really cheeky and ask for something! As I've said, I REALLY like the Imperial style of some of your buildings. I'm not sure if Imperial is the right word to describe it really, I mean the white marble structures, with columns and pillars, etc. Think of the Lincoln Memorial, the White House, etc. Now, I've searched the STEX, and haven't had much luck in finding some of the buildings you've used, I was wondering if you could remember off the top of your head, where you got some of these structures from, and anything else you can remember (their name, author, etc). I've compiled a list of the ones that I'm curious about below. If you can't remember where you got some of them from, or their names, or something like that, then that's OK, I forget where I get half my stuff from all the time! If some are your own personal creations, then that's fine too, I wouldn't want to impinge upon your own personal creations for your city...

For your ease of reference, here is the list of building's I'm curious about...

Hi Jarno, I am completely speechless about the update. I like a lot and thanks for envolving Giran de Cani in your cj. I really appreciate that.

now here's a more official reply. His Majesty, Aurelus III is alive, safe and sound and he made a live public speech in which he said the following

Dear citizens of Giran de Cani, our country's sovereignty has been breached. We have been betrayed from within our core.

My own butler, somebody i thought i could trust with all my good will has lied to the Kingdom and has lied to its people. Aleksei Dmitriy, or as i used to know him, Fernando D'Vasco was not a Giranese Citizen, he had been working for the Giranese Crown for 30 years and had been promoted to be my personal butler 10 years ago. Yesterday i found out that this man is a Rodinian citizen who had infiltrated into our very core. The Royal Palace.

Aleksei Dmitriy is a Communist imposter who aided by the Communist Party of Giran de Cani was able to overwhelm our way of life, our very culture.

He set my residence on fire while using explosives financed by the Government of the Socialist State of Rodina; luckily i was not inside the palace when the explosion occured, i happened to be right here in the Republic of The Gambia in an unofficial visit which details i will not make public.

Carrying on, I am also aware that The Giranese High Commission (Embassy) in The Empire of Chaumont suffered a grave accident and that my loyal subjects may have been mercylessly assasinated by the claws of Communism. I know for a fact that the Chaumontian Communist Party was highly involved in this attrocity which threatened to overwhelm the Empire's very civil order.

I comdemn Communism and the foes who support it, they shall not triumph for they are a new breed of terrorists who have vowed to overthrow my Government. I can assure them that that will not happen, at least not while i'm still alive.

I do acknowledge that Giran de Cani has faced a terrible economic crisis which has brought disorder and instability but i promise that we will recover politically, culturally and economically. I have sacked my Government and have dissolved the House of Deputies. I have taken control of the Armies and the Legions as well as the countless Government institutions. I have decided to take this step for i plan to call for a general election in due course. My brother, the Prince of Athena Caelorum is now in charge of the country until I return. But bare in mind that I will return unannounced.

Just a few days ago, I was first introduced to The Empire of Chaumont by the many mentions of it in other CJ's. I have to say that this is one of the best CJ's I've ever read. 6.gif'); height=15 alt=Insert smilie 6.gif src=https://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/6.gif width=15 border=0>This is the first alternate history CJ I've read and will keep in check with! I look forward to your future updates.29.gif'); height=15 alt=Insert smilie 29.gif src=https://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/29.gif width=15 border=0>

I've been browsing all the pages I've missed since I was last here (in early November), and wow!  That Trixie was well deserved.  Jarno, you've kept up the level of excellence that this CJ has come to be known for quite well, and I'll be glad to read it when I am able to pop in every so often.

Great work, and keep it up!

I work for the US Army. I go places, visit mean people, and kill them.

Winston Churchill is generall credited for saying something to the effect of: "People sleep soundly in their beds because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf". That about sums up my life, besides the "rough men" part.

Great journal. You presintaion is supurb. And even if you pictures were crappy (and the most sertanly arnt) your story telling makes this journal one of the best reads I think I have had in my time at ST. Put both things together and you have created a monster on a journal. Great job.
And that movie was great. Better then I could have done for sure. I signed up at the hosting site you used and hopefully I can put it to good use in the near future. I defently look forward to seeing some more and will be bookmarking this journal.

Your freedom is the most expensive thing you have, even if you arn't the one that paid for it... Use it well.

this is one of my favorite lurking areas, jarnomiedema - Chaumont has never failed to delight, charm and get a grin from me - you've obviously spent an amazing amount of work on this journal, and it does show, and never fails to impress me. keep up the great work.
now i am wondering...do ambassador's think they are fireproof?

Whisper words of wisdom

No, I have not abandoned Chaumont everyone.. I'm still here, don't worry.. 9.gif

Unfortunately, having this much snow outside is somehow inviting me out to play with the dog, walk around admiring the sights and all that sort of thing.. Ofcourse, buying games like Battle for Middle Earth and RollerCoaster Tycoon III also doesn't help much if you plan to keep an Empire working.. For some reason Isengard and Mordor are cooler than Chaumont.. 18.gif

But do not despair! I have also spent some time on another fortress city in the centre of Chaumont..(the large city to the far right in the centre of the Empire) At the moment nothing has developed yet, as I have not yet gotten around to doing that, but there will be something in the future, I swear! Also, my mind has been overflowing with ideas for a video celebrating the Simtropolis CJ section and the many CJ's there, so you might expect too see that sometime soon..

In any case, sorry for abandoning everyone for two weeks without a single word.. I'm fine and there will be an update coming your way soon!

Now, off to the personal replies and then onward with business as usual.. Besides, I'm on the brink of covering Middle Earth in eternal darkness, so I'll be quick.. 11.gif

    Personal Replies:

ChocolateMax285: Thanks for your comment, Choco! I'm not at liberty to divulge any information regarding the reasons for the Ambassador's actions, but I can tell you that there will be repurcussions.. As for the effect I use, it's a little difficult to explain, but I suggest you take a look at the amazing city journal 'Cordova'.. Somewhere in the early pages is an explanation about how to get the images to look that way.. I use almost the same effect.. Good luck!

Ginchael: Thanks for commenting, Ginchael! I really enjoyed reading about Chaumont in Armalis Senatorraine.. Keep up your good work!

Kottaiajmel: Thanks for your comment, Kottaiajmel.. I'm glad to hear you enjoy Chaumont and that it inspired you to go back to Simcity.. Those are the best compliments a CJ'er can get, I think.. 44.gif

Pepsi71Ocean: Thanks for leaving a comment, John.. As for the avenue, I believe the mod you're looking for is the 'Bridge Height Mod'.. You can find it in the Modding Files section of Simtropolis.. On the bottom in the links console to your left..

Praetorian Cohort: Thanks for leaving your comment, PC! Welcome to Chaumont and it's good to hear you're creating your own alternate history! I'm looking forward to seeing it.. Is it inspired by that book 'Romanitas'? I've been thinking of buying it for some time now.. From what I hear, it's amazing.. Anyhoo, thanks for commenting!

Slann: Thanks for comment and your many smilies, buddy! You're right.. Aparently Chaumont has such an effect on people.. I must say it's very flattering.. 43.gif

Simworld 056132: Thanks for your comment, Simworld 056132! I hope to see you around here again!

Inquisitor: Thank you for your comment, Inquisitor! When I was looking for good newscasters for Chaumont, I simply couldn't let this image go without using it.. After a while, it grew on me somehow and now I think I'll never use anybody else.. Jerry Jumper is now officially a part of Chaumont.. Also, thanks for welcoming us to page 21!

Leech10: Who knows? Thanks for your comment, Leech10.. Always appreciated!

Iggyman 101: Thanks for your comment, Iggyman 101! I had a little trouble deciphering your message, but I can assure you that the Empire does it's best to ensure the survival of the environment.. (Chaumont is a member of the Kyoto protocol.) As for your advice regarding the intelligence services, the Empire actually has a very secretive Imperial Secret Service, which keeps an eye on people with a bad attitude towards Chaumont..

Jasperdeman.nl: It took you this long to figure out that Jerry Jumper was Jerry Springer? Haha.. 9.gif Glad to hear you found out! Thanks for leaving your comment and I'm looking forward to seeing your alternate history.. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact me!

Patch320: Upon arrival in Chaumont, these 500 humans will be released and become Chaumontian citizens with all the rights and priviledges that come with that title.. Slavery was abolished a long time ago in Chaumont and we will not stand by a nation that holds them.. Thanks for your comment though!

Elmar0: Who knows, Elmar0? Thanks for your comment!

Goldfish4209: Thank you for your comment, Goldfish4209.. As for the blowing up, dying or burning.. I say: yes, please! The more unrest and oppression, the better.. Don't forget, Chaumont is delightfully oppressive.. And who knows? Chaumontians might be getting tired of that.. Thanks for your comment and thanks for your ducks! They will be put to good use!

Sloppet: Thanks for your comment and your support, Sloppet!

Jaqualina: Thanks for dropping by, Jaqualina.. Don't worry and again: thanks for your comment!

Dr. Frickenstein: Thank you for commenting, Dr. Frickenstein! Thanks for the compliment as well!

Tigerclaw: Thanks for your amazing comment, Tigerclaw! As for the buildings you requested, I'm afraid I can't link to all of them, but I think I can remember where most of them came from..

I'll go down the list just as you provided it..

The Admiralty Complex is actually Hiroshima City Hall. You can find it in the Massively Gigantic Japanese BAT thread.. (It pays to take some time of to browse through that thread!)

The Missile Complex is my own creation and not available anywhere. Good luck building your own in the Lot Editor! 9.gif

FriscoD already answered your question about the small needle type monuments..

The Imperial Military Academy is indeed Schloss Schoenbrunn to which Mike_Oxlong pointed you..

The Grand Hall of the Empire is the San Francisco City Hall, which you can find on the same page as Schloss Schoenbrunn..

As FriscoD said, the Grand Marshal's Office is the Palacio Real and that is already in the game and the last two you required were already answered by Mike_Oxlong..

Well, that was it.. Thanks for your comments and don't worry about the many questions for buildings.. As you can see, I'm not the only one willing to help out..

Mike_Oxlong: Thanks for helping out Tigerclaw, Mike_Oxlong!

Pipishere: Thanks for your comment, Pip! I'll try to do fewer 'To be Continued' updates.. 9.gif Sorry about taking two weeks, but there'll be something coming up soon, I promise!

FriscoD: Thank you for helping out Tigerclaw, FriscoD!

JerebannusXVI: Thanks for commenting, Phil! Good to hear you liked the update.. As for the developments in Giran de Cani, I'm looking forward to more and I assure you that there will repercussions for the people responsible for this!

Sharkbait16: Thanks for helping out Tigerclaw as well, Sharkbait16!

6Underground: Will do, 6U! Good to hear from you.. Thanks for your comment!

Philscafe: Thank you for your comment, Philscafe! I'm glad to hear you've enjoyed the latest developments and thanks for your congratulations as well! Again: thanks!

Cityhawk: Welcome to Chaumont, Cityhawk and thanks for leaving your comment! Thanks for your compliment and your congratulations as well! Good to have you with us!

Meinhosen: Hey! Good to see you've returned to Simtropolis, Meinhosen.. How often can you check back? Do you have good access to the internet where you are now or are you back already? Thanks for your comment and your congratulations.. You definitely deserved your Trixie, that's for sure! Again: thanks for commenting!

BourneID: Thanks for your comment, BourneID! I'm honored to see such a great CJ'er drop by Chaumont.. I'm looking forward to the movies you might have in store for us! Thanks for bookmarking Chaumont and I'm hoping to see more of these wonderful comments in the future! Also, congratulations on your Trixie as well!

MrCinatit: Wow.. Two CJ legends commenting here one after the other! 6.gif Thanks for dropping by Chaumont, MrCinatit! What a wonderful comment.. I think you actually made me blush! As for the ambassador, I think he thought he was a stuntman in a previous life and gathered that he could easily get through this blaze.. 9.gif

-Hitman-: Thanks for your comment, Hitman! I'm pleased to hear you enjoy Chaumont!

Now, that's it from me everyone.. With a little luck I might present something of an update regarding Chaumont's new year's celebrations tomorrow or the day after that! Expect to see some new Imperial Palaces and other areas of Chaumont you may not have seen before!

From snowy Amsterdam, I'm signing off!

For one moment i thought your students had tied you up in the school kitchen in revenge for having set them detention for not doing their homework11.gif (hahaha, the classical teacher-student stereotype) On a serious note, i thought you had left Holland for a hotter place during the christmas period (i wish i had left England, it's damn cold34.gif) Thanks for answering to our comments and i can assure that there will be more developments from Giran de Cani next week.

Long live Chaum...(no wait!, that's too popular) i think i should say May the force of the Ring be with you! (it'll help you conquer Middle Earth *11.gif my precious* *grin*)

I dont know if you have anyother plans do do more movies or not....but if you want to accually make videos of you city (moving pictures instead of static ones) you can stop by the last page of my journal...and no I am not trying to get a shameful plug in here2.gif. About a year ago i did a series of movies that unfortionally i dont think the links work anymore. I used the method described in my animated .gif tutorial to make small clips with the sc4 recorder. I then took those animated .gif clips and combined them in windows moviemaker set to music much like you have done. This method while taking much longer then using static pictures...gives a sense that you are accually seeing things as they are happening. As if you are sitting next to the journal maker watching there game.
Now the real reason I bring this up...is that I would really like to see some of your city played....and sense you can very well package it up and send it to me.....watching a video I guess would due2.gif

Your freedom is the most expensive thing you have, even if you arn't the one that paid for it... Use it well.
