As a young(ish) bearded man myself, I get told I look much older than I am all the time. My beard has gotten huge over the last few years as well so it's very misleading.

After a few days I can't really stand how a beard feels, I tend to keep clean-shaven.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Yes it can get itchy for the first 2 weeks for me. Usually if I grow a beard I lose it in the summer but I think I'm going to hold onto this one for a bit. Eventually I will undoubtedly shave it off though.

Ah yes, the downside to having a beard is the occasional itchyness. Or, more specifically, the fact that I generate dandruff from my face as well as from the top of my head. :P

I made pancakes for the first time in quite a while. They turned out edible, not that great.

I hear you on that one! I bet a wee bit of "beardruff", if you will, every now and again.

How unfortunate! I imagine they prefer you clean shaven? Who's your team, Haljackey? I of course will be backing the Pens.

I agree, Duke. I trim mine fully about every 2 weeks with occasional snipping in between. I won't be suspending beard maintenance for the playoffs this year though.

Edit: Hehehe... I see your avatar now. No need to answer that last question!

If I didn't have a few friends who inject it into my newsfeed on Facebook, I would be mostly oblivious as to what's going on in hockey. I've been to a couple games and they're fun enough to watch, but I don't care enough to expend effort following the sport. I am mostly a fan of baseball and, second after that, (American) football. I then have minimal interest in hockey, basically no interest in basketball, and, wait for it.............

minus a gajillion interest in soccer.

I don't like beards... at least I don't like having one. Luckily it doesn't grow too much nor too quickly so I can shave every few days and be fine.

I remember reading recently that pro StarCraft now has more fans than the NHL. Still love them both, but that's probably due to my Canadian and nerd side :P

Well, StarCraft 2 is played internationally, in a wider sense than "The US and Canada", as opposed to the National Hockey League. It just happens to be almost completely dominated by South Korean players.

I wouldn't be able to tell you the nearest place I could watch any games of ice hockey at all, let alone play it, whereas I could quite easily find a game of StarCraft to watch or even play it myself.

Far be it from Larks to make us aware of his being unaware of things! :P

I imagine the reason I am into hockey is because my city has a good team, not to mention a player who is arguably the best in the game (Larks, I'm speaking of Sidney Crosby) Duke, you pay attention too! But that argument is flawed because I live in Pittsburgh. The Steelers have an incredible history and fan base but I couldn't care less for them. Hockey is just a great sport and is as such in a way that is completely independent from baseball, which is also a great sport.

My softball team had their first 2 games today (2 magnificent losses). I was scratched because I lost my old mitt and had to buy another, only after I returned from NY (No chance to practice yet). Now that I have it, I can play. Next week is an 8:15 game at Bronx Field under the lights. 2 blocks from my house. There is a great feeling of nostalgia evoked by playing under the lights and its right in my neighborhood. I can't wait!

Heh. My softball team lost their first two games, too. Our third is this friday.

I'm not playing unless I have to, though. My preferred role in this operation is managing/stat keeping. :D

I have shaving with a passion but must do it for work, so two or three times a week I use an electric razor that doesn't give me razor burn.  But most of the time I have Indiana Jones/Brett Favre-style scruff.

I haven't been (un?)lucky enough to be invited to play in the PTA vs teachers sporting events here yet, but I do think it's only a matter of time.

Also, I am now back on my laptop online, instead of merely my so-called 'smart' phone.  I hate the touch-screen keyboard on the stupid thing.  Doesn't work with my not-so-dainty thumbs very well.

Yes, I would have to agree. I don't even own that game, and I don't like it. I've seen numerous youtube videos about it's flaws, and saw online news stories about it. I won't be buying that one. I'm wanting to try CXL instead.

Meh. My objections are not specific to SC2013 so much as they are to gaming in general these days. I've come to the conclusion that pretty much every video game that will ever be worth playing has already been made. And most of those were made by 2005 or so.

The latest generation has gotten way too gimmicky (see: Kinect), way too obsessed with making gaming "social", and way too into the idea that video games are a corporate moneymaking machine rather than a work of art and a work of love.

SimCity 2000 is the best city-building game ever made, and the best city building game that ever will be made. SimCity 3000 is second. SmiCity 4.... meh, it's alright, but it's horribly glitchy and buggy (protip to game makers: your game should not randomly crash all the time if you've programmed it right).

I nod my agreement with Duke.  Games have left me behind, or maybe, I've left them.  Either way, the silly gimmicks, yearly sequels with few or no improvements, and the in-your-face socialness of them is a turn-off.  Luckily, there are all those Avengers pdfs I have on my computer to read...

It seems to me that every time a game series tries to do something different in their newest sequel than in games past, the game ends up being a disaster and a failure. Take the Mario Party series for example. The games in that series just kept getting better and better until they came out with Mario Party 9. Mario Party 9 sucks. I'm probably never going to play that one again. The same goes for the Sim City series according to reports. They should have made an improved version of Sim City 4, not tried different new stuff. Just my opinion.

    Larks, this is Starcraft.

As far as games go, I don't play too many anymore. I usually stick around with longer, single player games that I can replay over and over. Strategy games like Civilization and Crusader Kings, otherwise I'm pretty stuck on Skyrim.

But Zoo Tycoon randomly calls me sometimes... because why not?

I never played Mario Party. Some of my favorite games over the years were the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and Quake III. I was playing on Quake Live just last week and was psyched to see that they a Quake II dm map in the rotation. It was fun.
