Not only that, there's something else that keeps me from watching tv on my laptop, it's hard to say what it is exactly, but I don't like the feeling of watching tv on my laptop (I do it every now and then, but I try to keep it to a minimum). Maybe I like my couch with my blanket more than I want to admit :P (+ when I'm on my pc I always feel some need to multitask.) Oh those feelings.

Some people will be dissatisfied with the size of the laptop screen.

You can buy larger HDMI screens, I did that.

Maybe I'm old fashioned but yes, I prefer a bigger screen. Matters of preference that result in purchases of several hundred dollars should however be kept to a minimum.

With an HDMI port, you can connect your PC to your home TV....

The need for subscription TV is waning, mainly geared towards seniors who are otherwise technologically challenged now.

I saw no need to go beyond 40". My living room isn't too big. This tv is 46" but the price was right so I jumped on it.

Indeed I have it connected to my laptop for Netflix and dvds (laptop functions as dvd/blu ray player although I don't own any blu rays) but I would also like to watch sporting events, news and the weather channel occasionally, so I'll be getting cable shortly.

The thing about watching sports is that I was always more the type to be doing something else with the baseball game on in the background, looking up if it sounds like something interesting is happening. Actually sitting there and watching the whole game I will only do if I am at the ballpark (incidentally, I will be seeing the DBacks at Chase Field tonight).

So, I don't really miss not having TV service. Not worth the $40+ a month.

TV Service definitely finally has some competition. With the pricing up here in Canada on even the most basic packages being crazy, it's no wonder Netflix et all are adding TV series' to their roster.

I agree but Netflix alone doesn't cut it for me. I watch very few tv shows and while Netflix allows me to watch a number of shows I might be interested in, I still take it in moderation. I don't want to feel I need to catch up on shows and waste huge portions of my time. Not that I'm necessarily doing anything productive otherwise, but still, tv shows aren't why I'll get cable. It's the other stuff.

What with the weather finally breaking I'll be out of the house more though.

Only Primetime TV show I still watch on a regular basis is The Office, although I do follow a few other shows on youtube.

Honestly Muck, what you say is a disadvantage to Netflix, I say is an advantage. I am a completionist, and if I decide I want to watch a show, damn straight I'm going to watch every episode, in order. And I don't want to be subject to the whims of a TV schedule when doing that.

TV schedules certainly are wonderful. One of my favourite shows, The Good Wife, is constantly preempted for sporting or delayed because The Amazing Race runs long. Not to mention the random 2/3 week gaps some other shows I watch go through.

Sometimes I only watch one episode of a show if an actor I like guest stars.

In regards to tv, there's not much I watch anymore. Sick of the commercials. It's getting so I can pretty much predict what commercial's coming up next.

You know I completely forgot about this thread. Been busy. Trying to get my provisional license, because someday I want a car. So I've been practicing driving.

Driving is fantastic.

Duke, I'm not saying that is a disadvantage. Perhaps I can explain better. I stay away from new tv shows because I know I am capable of spending all day watching 10 consecutive episodes. I don't want to be doing that so I avoid tv shows because of it. I have been watching the Office since the first episode for several weeks and I'm somewhere in season 6. That's a lot of Office. But the reason Netflix alone won't suffice is because of all the other tv related broadcasting that Netflix doesn't have.

Edit: And I've been sniped. It figures you would go to San Diego when I'm going to new York. I leave in the morning!

I prefer watching Filipino Shows, but with it's repetitiveness over dramas and more sensational repetitive news, it is also showing that they too are in decline and needed something new for a refresh.

There have been times where'd I'd watch episodes non-stop for 16 hours straight, with food and bathroom breaks. I'm somewhat of a completionist when it comes to watching shows, which is why I had to stop :P

Woah, how do you keep yourself up for 16 hours straight watching the tv and staring at the screen o.O there's no way I could do that, well I don't really watch tv much anyways. The majority of stuff I like to watch are like all asian they don't even air here in Australia :( .

The only one thing I have ever done for anything close to 16 hours straight with only food and bathroom breaks is driving. Don't see myself ever doing such with any other activity. Even if I enjoy something, enough is enough long before that. Driving is the exception. I will drive all day, and I will drive all day for multiple days straight!

Wow, you must have a one of a kind stamina. You sure your human? Haha, well anyways you don't get drivers fatigue when you drive all day straight? These stuff are generally big stuff here in Australia since it contributes to crashes to a certain degree, even more so then drink drink driving. Here they say "Stop, Revive, Survive".

I don't really do anything for that long, but I did play Zelda: Ocarina of Time for so long the game froze and made a sound that was a mix of the Hryule Field music and beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeereeeeep XD

This is also my 800th post here.

There are a few things I could see myself doing for 16 hours straight. Sadly study does not seem to be one of them, regardless of how much I need to.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

CA is one of the few states I've never been to, however it just doesn't seem all that appealing.

Cali is big. Surely you could find some aspect of the state that you're fond of. I've been there in the neighborhood of 20 times I'd say.

I bet I've slept for 16 hours straight... no bathroom breaks too!

Posting from the taxiway at JFK airport. Ah, phones. :P

As for driving, I don't see it as an endurance test. When I'm in the zone, the only fatigue involved is my natural sleep cycle.
