Nah, it would take waaaay too long to do 100,000 posts; it's already taken over a year to just get to where we are atm, which means it might take well over 12 years to get to 100,000 posts at the same rate as we are currently going for these 10,000 posts. The above statistics also definitely cancel out the chances of a 400,000 post thread... seriously, it would take at least 50 years to do that, which is totally out of the question.

A 20,000 post thread might be reasonable however :)

EDIT: Sniped!

6874: Sorry, but how about 12000 post or 12500 post thread? and my school is giving insane amount of homework again. Why the school just don't give classwork and let us free at home?

Homework is supposed to help you learn... whether it actually does varies from peron to person and class to class.

You'll be pleased to hear that in college some professors will make homework optional - practice as little or as much as you need.

We should keep it at 10,000 post thread.

Yeah, well... new folks enter the thread unaware we've had the debate before. It happens.

Fortunately you guys have me here to be the grand source of institutional memory for all of Simtropolis. :P

I joined in 2005, at the apex of the STEX when there were downloads there that are no longer available. There was a TV tower that lit up in bright white and orange and a landmark office skyscraper with animated night lights.

I remember ST5.

There were definitely a lot more politics in those days but over the years things definitely quieted down into a pleasant mature community. :)

Anyone remember this logo?

Which is interesting because I remember when discussion of politics (and religion) was not allowed. It was at some point in 2006 with the creation of the Current Events forum that that ban was lifted.

Now, even I don't remember, but I am aware, that the now long-gone rule banning discussion of politics and religion was not in fact original. In the really early days when Simtropolis was a tiny, tiny community, discussion of such topics was allowed (dirk himself made a satirical post about bombing Iraq in February of 2003). The rule was of late spring/early summer 2003 vintage.

There was also a lot more forum drama as well. I even remember one incident with this reoccurring banned member who will remain unnamed. Jeez, posting pictures of poop (litterally) on the STEX, those were the days....

I went to Lonche Ruben (that might be the name of the sandwich since all Loncherías that I saw said it) de pierna (beef thigh). I ordered it without onions, slathered on crema, and put salsa and pickled jalepeños inside.

We also went to see the main Stadium of the Pan American Games (part of its outer wall is covered in grass), we even took pictures of Puente Matute Remos. After that we visited my bisabuela then bought Flores de Noche Buena in 4 colors (red, white, pink, variegated red). We almost visited a childhood friend of my dad who works at Universisad de Guadalajara but she was teaching classes when we were in Zapoapan (she lives in Zapoapan and that is far away from Calle Isaac Albéniz in Guadalajara).

The earliest ST I remember is from when I joined. Which was long enough ago for me to have to go look it up. I think it was ST5 then.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

I joined an awfully long time ago myself, but I didn't become active until the summer of '07 right before I moved to Japan. Was that ST5? I know I've seen at least two updates... I got a Custom Member Label *JUST* before the last update. I was so sad when I realized those were never coming back... Still brings a tear to my eye. :'(

I joined just after you did and yeah it was ST5 back then, with the nice bluey background before the 'modern revision'. I think I have a screenshot, I'll see if I can find it...

(6893)

Upgrade to ST5 was March 5, 2006

Upgrade to ST6 was March 21, 2009

So, yes, for both of you, that was ST5 you're remembering.

Thank goodness that we have Duke's enormous memory bank here with us! :D

Now if they wrote DO NOT HUMP on them, that would be hilarious. :P
