And that's how science works!

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

The dawn of the age of Aquarius!

That's as good a guess as anyone else's.

Seriously, the range on when the start is supposed to be is from 1447 to 3597. Which is the same as the length it's supposed to be (2150 years).

The REINS Act (not "Reigns") is a bill that stipulates that 1) all federal agencies (FDA, FCC, OSHA, FHWA, etc.) must determine the economic impact of a regulation change before they can make it, and 2) requires that all changes with an economic impact greater than $100 million be approved by congress before they can take effect.

The Republicans who made this bill say it's to curb out of control federal regulation and reduce regulatory uncertainty that hurts the economy. Democrats (who almost unanimously opposed it) say it will get in the way of these agencies' ability to protect the public because they will no longer be able to quickly pull unsafe products from shelves.

So it's going to make everything slower, more expensive, and, on the whole, further reduce the efficiency of government departments? There are certainly ways to improve the regulatory bodies, but this doesn't sound like one of them.

It passed the house, but, like everything house republicans come up with, it won't pass the democrat-controlled senate. So it's another purely symbolic gesture.

That is the problem right there, we need to get the democrats out of the senate majority, along with a new president then congress can get down to the real business instead of passing bills like the "EPA regulation of farm dust" that passed today.

And i fully support the Reins act, its one step closer to dissolving the agencies powers.

It does not matter. The REINS act is just another nail in the coffin of the USA. The less efficient and more expensive the USA government becomes, the faster it will collapse. The bigger they are the harder they fall. When we fall, there will be a global depression that the free market and even controlled markets will never recover and the only way for an economy to take off again is to get rid of the monetary system or at least fiat money.

I wonder if I will live to see this?

"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

So it's going to make everything slower, more expensive, and, on the whole, further reduce the efficiency of government departments?

Well, the idea is that by making it more difficult to pass regulations you prevent agencies from doing so frivolously (which they do have a tendency of doing).

It's an easy philosophy to follow but the problem is that you don't just stop regulatory agencies from doing bad things, you also stop them from doing good things.

Ah, that reminds me of why I hate politics and gave up following it years ago: you're never right, your points are never considered honestly, and others only care about having their own points validated by like-minded others. I promise to refrain from commenting on any other political matters here on ST. It's more fun to complain endlessly about how AWFUL the new Spider-Man movie looks. AWFUL! OH my god, I wish I had never seen that horrifyingly terrible trailer earlier this year. It's like the studios are making fun of us again, like they did with Batman and Robin.
