About previous update: It's beautiful, I love the details of peristile :)

I really like your attention to details, it makes your bats so great. Villa of Diomedes looks just splendid

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

    REPLIES

Harishna Thanks a lot! No, the fish bassins don't have the final texture, whereas the red walls

are going to keep their rich red. Romans applied it to almost everything and it was

very intense... hope you like the new update.

    Frex_Ceafus ... and here's more! Thank you.

IDS2 Thank you very much. Yes, the fish... I think I am a bit maniac ;)

Tonyr Thanks, and I bet you'll also love the following...

Seraf Thank you, glad you liked the update. Here's a new one!

lo_bg Welcome to my project, glad you like it. Thanks a lot.

Schulmanator lol ... soon... Thank you, Bruce.

IL. Well, I want to upload everything together... Thank you.

    UPDATE

Todays truly massive update is focusing on public buildings, i.e. forum puzzle pieces,

    temples and municipal buildings.

Here we go, starting with the

    Temple of Apollo (finished)

    ap1n.jpg

    ap2b.jpg

3 municipal buildings (finished): from left to right:

curia, tabularium, the place of the duumviri

    94479663.jpg

    62479955.jpg

Temple of Jupiter (finished), dedicated to the 'trias'

    Jupiter, Juno and Minerva

    44141895.jpg

    35400347.jpg

Basilica (needs to be scaled), for trials and business

    62879286.jpg

    66617290.jpg

The small Temple of Vespasian, attached to one of the forum puzzle

    pieces (finished)

    84225120.jpg

    10570005.jpg

The comitium for public elections (statues are missing, not scaled)

    88129659.jpg

    56361957.jpg

The macellum, the market (in progress)

    ma1kq.jpg

The forum puzzle pieces (to be scaled):

1 and 2 stories high (ignore the mirrored structure in the first pic)

    66895068.jpg

    15942353.jpg

    79851889.jpg

And a section of 2 insulae, divided by a street (in progress)

    20146622.jpg

Good, the macellum needs to be finished, then working on 3 more

forum buildings. These should finally offer a big variety to build

    a custom forum :)

Stay tuned for more to come soon,

    lucky7

Goodness, you have been busy producing beautiful buildings. You will soon have enough for a major Roman city all with your buildings. The modular forum puzzle pieces are a great idea in introducing flexibility.

I suspect some of your pieces, such as the Temple of Jupiter would also get used in much later cities with some neo-classical architecture. Some of the other buildings I can also imagine being also used for museums or art galleries of later centuries.

I hope everyone's spotted out the sundial on the column in the first pic of the Apollo Temple- as Apollo was the gd of the sun. btw, all models correspond to their RL counterparts in Pompeii :)

For the colonnade puzzle pieces, you'll want to export the individual pieces with a neighboring piece as well, extended past the LODs, so that the shadows from the columns to the left get cast. It will also help the individual pieces transition more smoothly together. Luckily all of the collonade pieces need to be next to other colonnade pieces, which means that there will always be another column to the left or right of each puzzle piece.

There's a bridge making tutorial on SC4 Devotion that shows how to do it.

You sure are making a lot of buildings, lol

    I don't know if you're still active, or if you're even still working on this, but I just wanted to say it's sad to see the project dead. I was really looking forward to your work, and I hope (if you've got the time) that you could take it up again sometime. Everything you've shown is fantastic, it'd be a shame to see all that work go to waste. :}
