On a different note, I went past the UAW yesterday and I see I need to make a few alterations. Those will be done very quickly and easily, I just have to add windows. I'll try posting an update later on.

Here's why....

 

Basically there is way too much petty bickering and off topic nonsense for me. What it boils down to is that too many around here what to force feed their opinion to the community without any type of counter arguement. Not only that but off topic nonsense penetrates threads they were not designated too, much of the time turning into mini spam fests. It's just not fun. The point of the community is to have fun, something it is not for me anymore. This is a hobby to me, and some feel that it is their position to take that fun away, whether that is their true intention or not. Just look at the off topic threads, some are just doomed to stir up the community and these jerks should know better. Why do I need someone force feeding some opinion of their view on how the world works when my job takes me into many places most people wouldn't dare thinking of venturing into? That's why I liked the community when I joined, it was a place where I could sit back, put up my feet, and relax after a hard days work. But as of late this no longer holds true. Their are to many hostile opinions. Why should I defend myself on opposing view points anymore? It's not fun, no one cares to listen, and most of all in most cases its not fun at all to argue. These jerks that have done this have taken away the simple pleasure of enjoying what the community was truly designed for, SC4.

 

Now watch...I wonder how long until I get pooped on here....

I dont want to jab too far here, but is there something in particular you could share with us about the 'force-feeding' of opinions, I think it would just make everything a little more easy to understand. Hope you come back soon

EDIT- I just experienced some force-feeding myself, seems that I made quite a few people very mad for 'bumping' some threads. Now I know not to be curious...

In the threads that I did give an opinion, it was not that of the majority some of the time and my view was chewed up and spit up like a bad steak. What's the point of posting then and why would I want to share anything else with these bozos. That's why I made my decision. I have requested my lots pulled for this reason. They will be available for download but not here. I'm not shunning the community, just those I feel who have made this place their personal soapbox and not a place to enjoy SC4. To those who have done this, you can kiss my butt.

 

Anyways, rest assured that I'm still involved in the BSP. As a matter of fact the RenCen has progressed this weekend. I figure another week and I'll post some shots of it. The only thing is you will have to know where I'm posting them (ert might know) since it will not be here, at least until some resolution comes about, which is not likely.

Wolverine, I like the new look of the BSP site!  A lot less busy then the original.  Once again, I will offer up pictures or assistance if needed.  Is there going to be a forum on there?

 

Also, due to some paper work not making it to the Penobscot security, we were unable to go up to the deck this weekend.  Kind of disappointing since the sky really cleared up.  The tour guide said they will probably do a walking skyscraper tour sometime before the end of Oct and we will get up there then.  I'll keep you posted when I find out.

Well Baldy if you must know, when you open the material editor there are all the buttons for Color, Ambient, Diffuse, you know? Well I was using the 'Color' button instead of Diffuse!
Does this mean that the BSP is officially moved to the site? Or are we going to keep this thread going?

Hey guys whats up. I know I said I would post a picture of the UAW, and I know I have yet to do so. Don't worry though, I have been working on it, it is almost done, I just have to keep redesigning the front wall because I can't get it just right. Tomorrow Superstar is going to help me do the nite lites. The main thing holding me up is roof junk... I definitely do not know how to make it so that is going be a big problem. I'll try to get a picture posted before 9 PM.

Hmmm...I'm still browsing here as you can see. Thanks for the support guys. Glad to see I'm not alone. I'm not sure I mentioned this but I have formally requested my lots be pulled from ST. I will not contribute to a community that has members willing to undercut and knock each other around at the drop of a hat. Not my cup ot tea...

 

But....seeing wolverine's progress on the site I'm certain that the downloads will only be on tempororary hiatus. This project has my full and undivided attention and support. I would feel like a nutjob to abandon it now as it just has gotten rolling along at a good clip. There is absolutely no reason for me to abandon it as you, the members of the BSP, have never given me anything but the best wishes and intentions. I'm flattered by the comments, you guys rock!!!

 

Back to the website, man that is really cool wolverine. You have an ETA? Also, am I to understand that our bats will be available for download at this site? And damn, I really need to get you those screenshots but I've been fairly busy with RLS and my decision to leave has taken priority for the short term. I'll get them to you tomorrow or Wednesday.

 

Glad you figured out that texturing problem spidey...and its too bad you guys didn't make it to the observation deck. Maybe next time...

Budweiserdude, I hope the site will be out soon.  I've had a tough week lately, but it now has lightened up, and assignments won't be all that hard.  I unfortunatley got off to a bad start today when I got sick and had to miss a very important 8:00 a.m studio class this morning.  Fortunately, my friends are helping me catch up on that.  Tonight I'll do some more work on the website.  What you see there is actually a graphic representation of what it's going to look like.  Fortunately, since I'm using flash now, I don't have to deal with messy coding.  Just import that graphic and tell the flash animation program what do do...very easy stuff.  The following pages- as you see in the links may take some time, since I STILL NEED IMAGES from everyone.

 

I had gotten some more of the website done last night, however it was lost in an unfortunate event.  I was nearing the end of finishing the home page when the fire alarm went off.  Everybody thought it was a drill until smoke started pouring down our hall.  Then everyone began to freak out, and in the midst of it all, I didn't save.  All of us stood outside in the cold for over an hour watching smoke pour out from the sixth floor of Couzens Hall.  The fire must have done something to the electrical system because the power went out, and my battery in my computer was only 1/4 charged.  You can blame this all on the druggie that threw his spent joint in the trash can and then went down to dinner while it ignited, set his room on fire, and then spread!    It's amazing how, for such a university of high standards, people like this actually get admitted!  What an asshat.  Anyway, I'll try to redo the lost work.

You'll get those images tomorrow. I've got some HVAC homework, that is I have to read a technical manual on this overly complicated HVAC unit. The manual is about 200 pages long so I have my work cut out for me.

 

Anyways, keep up the good work wolverine. Don't let those potheads near your computer...

 

On a side note, my lots were finally removed. They will be available elsewhere, looks like the BSP homepage when completed. With that, my work at ST is finished. I'm done, and just in time, as it looks as if an influx of sims2 players are about to invade.

I didn't get to do work on the UAW yet because I had a meet in Westland and I didn't get back till 7. Well it certainly stinks to see you go, but you gotta do what you gotta do.  I think I can agree with you somewhat on what you've been saying here the past few pages, it seems like we've been having an influx of people from the official site lately and they're bringing their attitudes with them.  But maybe that's just my observation...  Unbeknownst to anyone here, I almost disappeared myself a couple weeks ago, I came this close to the breaking point.

 

On a more positive note, I'll be following your progress from it's new home as soon as it's fully up and running!

You know, I've got to say this. This really bothers me. Some of the most overopinionated jerks are those who contribute the least and take the most. To those, you can kiss it where the sun doesn't shine. You have taken away the luster in this community. You know who you are. You are the ones ruining it for the community. I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling this way but if I am so be it. Alot of you had made it perfectly clear that you feel the right to express your opinions and I'm expressing mine. Its crazy too how no one here can take a friggin joke. I mean come on, I was in chat the other day (which by the way was the straw that broke the camels back) and I got warned for joking around. Not being mean spirited, just joking. Heck the person I was joking with got it but I get warned. Kiss me where it smells funny.

Budweiserdude, I don't know how to say this, but what is all this you are talking about?  I didnt' realize you were going to remove your projects from Simtropolis, or in other words, make a full move away from this site.  As ridiculous as thingx have gotten, our thread has remained clean, and all of the BSP downloads have gotten good ratings.  The reason why I thought it was good to keep some stuff here was because of the massive member base.  Making a complete move like this would be like a store leaving a very popular shopping mall, and plopping itself in the middle of some cornfield without advertising.  But if this is what you think may be best, I'll work at building a custom built forum section.  I just wanted to know exactly where you wanted this project to be.

 

EDIT:  Oh wow!  We have a new local!  Welcome Alex!  Sorry you had to come on this time when the BSP is in a bit of a transition phase...well it always has been!  Just for your future info, I live in Ann Arbor, but I'm a Saginaw native.

How do I put this....I'm trying to walk a very fine line here. My main thing is I can not endorse a site when too many things boil down to petty garbage, mud slinging, etc. I have no interest in that. People have dragged my name and/or opinion through the mud via email/pm, or on the boards. Look I can handle it, I outgrew name calling before a fair amount of this community were finished crapping their diapers. However, those types of actions or mentalities did not go unnoticed, whether it was me or someone else being unceremoniously attacked. It's obvious in many of the posts made here that drip with sarcasm. Thus, why allow what I have created to continue to be available to a community that would assume stabbing you in the back as an appropriate action anytime he/she sees fit. Read the thumbs down thread, you'll catch my drift.

 

Now being a proponent of the right to ones opinion, people may think what I'm doing as being hypocritical. Far from it. The problem is those who use the statement I'm entitled to my opinion are typically the same ones using that exact statement to shove their opinion down everyones elses throat. Don't even try to respond to that opinion because they're allowed to have it and they are going to dictate to everyone how they feel, what right and wrong, etc. Read the somking thread in the off topic forum and you'll see what I'm talking about here. That's the mentality I'm talking about. Nothing good comes of it. Why should I care then, huh?

 

So now you might be saying to yourself, Well he's only come up with 2 examples, so that's what ticked him off so much? The answer is yes and no. The no part is there are many more threads like this and commentary on the stex at times is quite horrid at times. This mentality comes across in many of the long existing threads or in some cases threads seem as if they are created for this purpose alone, i.e. to get the community riled up. I just feel that these 2 threads were some of the better examples of what I am speaking about, hence the yes answer to the question I posed above.

 

So what's to become of my involvement here? Well, you can see I haven't abandoned the project nor will I. Some may resent the fact that I'm still here after what I've said but hey, that's life and my opinion. If I'm booted from here completely, it will if nothing else completely justify what I have already said. Same goes should I be spammed or flamed here or elsewhere.

 

That all being said, I have set up a thread at another site in the link I posted earlier. It's purpose will be to showcase work that will be uploaded at the BSP homepage or another site with an exchange that will protect the interests of the contributing members rather than have members of the community badger them on a continuous basis. I wouldn't worry about setting up a forum wolverine. So far, there hasn't been a problem with the exchange of information and I don't envision that being a problem (at least I hope)

Well I have a much better understanding of the situation now. It is getting out of hand how people are treating each other around here, everyone just waits to pounce on you it seems.
That thing at PEG's site for the BSP, I tried signing up for his site but I have yet to recieve a confirmation email. I'm really interested to see what this secret is.
Can I ask you guys an opinion question? Respond to this with full honesty!
I had been making posts asking about updates for quite some time now, and finally it seems that I was much disliked on the boards that some people chose to let me know the hard way. Now I understand there are posts that get out of hand when asking about updates but I was being nice about it; Wow great job so far! Everything looks so good, do you have any more updates for us or word of how the project is goin? That's what my posts were like. Now I just want everyone's opinion about that; is it really annoying and rude?
I have really been upset about this for the past couple of days because I feel I have become a nuisance to the community, so let me apologize to anyone who reads this post.

EDIT-- Bud I just checked out the Smoking thread...
God, I cannot believe the stuff those people said. Ridiculus! Just for the record I don't smoke and I don't like it, but I am not about to do what they did. Personally, I think it is good to give people positive feedback, but don't like it when it becomes spam.  By that I mean when the 10 people before you say good job and that's it, I don't see the need to add another.  If you say good job and talk about other stuff or add something worthwhile then no problem. This thread is a little different in that there are really only a handful of people involved and it is kind of like our own little area away from everything else.  I guess that's why we tend to get off topic a lot and no one really cares.  Go BSP!!!!

 

Yeah, I am also curious to what the surprise is BD......

 

I also joined over at the other site and received a confirmation e-mail within a few minutes, so I don't know what the problem is for you spidey.

 

BTW, any updates on your building?  Pictures?  Release date?

Wow. Nearly two pages since my last post.

Wolverine: The site looks amazing! I especially like the football field on the right side with the list of projects. Nice name too, The Sideline!

Spidey: I knock people for bumping threads. It's against the rules. However, I only do it when people bump for stupid reasons. Asking if there are updates on a project is, no offense, partially stupid. A handy tool here at ST and at other forums is the ability to send private messages to other members. If you come pon a really cool BAT project on, say, page 7, PM the member who is the head of the project and ask how things are going. People shouldn't knock you for asking that question though.

Bud: It's sad to see you go and evidently this is quite serious to you. I definaetly respect your desicion although I don't totally agree with it. It will be hard to continue this thread without your expertise and levelheadedness (wow, is that a word?) but, nevertheless, we will still do it. Looks like I'll be having to make daily visits to PEG's site now. btw, I have een a member there for awhile and have over 50 posts. What's this surprise everybody's talking about?
