Larger Hospitals (for CAM)!

Often, when I build a large city, (often a city with 300,000+ losers), I find myself needing to build more hopsitals within thier radius. This problem has been recently descovered when my city population were increased thanks to CAM. I wish there was a way to increase the current hospital max compacity, or better yet, build a larger hospital just like they did with schools and high schools. My overall hospital quality has been decreasing thanks to overpopulated hopstals, and no room to place new hospitals. If there was a way to make a mega-hospital (larger than medic centers, but smaller than research centers), I would love to use them on my large cities.

There are many custom hospitals and schools, both large and small.. some better done than others. 4.gif .. Have you done a search to see what you can find? I can personally recommend some outstanding schools (several "packs" of them) done by JBSimio.. I recommend that you simply search for them, try them out, and keep what you like.

Actually I think the best none mod solution is the disease research center it has a capacity of 60000 people or more on full funding.

Hospitals, Schools, Police and Fire Stations are easy to mod with the iLive reader. You can mod their capacities, radius, costs, employees, etc. This was one of the first things I modded in the game when I first got back into playing. That was almost four months ago and the iLive reader has helped me with all my downloads everyday since then.

If you don't want to mod anything, there are a couple of civic radius and capacity mods out there on the STEX. Just download these and drop them in your plugins folder to have double or higher capacity.

Unfortunatly they give off radiation contamination, though.

That "radiation contamination" is of little consequence to the game play as it is confined to the lot itself.. even one tile away it is non-existant. They don't "blow up" or any of the other "nasties"

The disease research center max capacity was reached when the population of my city reached 2.4 Million.  I am projecting for 3.4 Million when I am finished growing my city.  At the current rate, I will probably have 80,000 patients when the city reaches 3.4M.  Is there a solution to increase the capacity of the DRC?,

Resurrecting a 3 years old topic is not a good idea, but I want to make my suggestion too. is (for me) the best way to deal with any CAM related problem, like need for hospitals. It covers the whole city and can service plenty of Sims.

"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity

"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity

"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." - Frank Zappa

"The wisest men follow their own direction." - Euripides

Well, since we're at it. Couldn't the Reader be used to alter the capacity of any hospital to adjust for this situation?

It most certainly could, and very easily at that.  I've done it myself.  I've also used it to increase the capacity of the Disease Research Center, although that's a little more complicated because you have to make a copy of the building exemplar from SimCity_1.dat first.  But the Reader manual is pretty clear, and this is still a rather simple task.

BTW, if you adjust the capacity or cost of any medical building, you must first destroy all instances of that particular building in your city, and then replop them after the change is made.  Otherwise, all of your medical buildings will be subject to the Phantom Slider Bug.

The same goes for educational buildings, and any other groups of buildings that use individual sliders.
