Woh. Looks good. I didn't think something like that would be posible.
I think you're going to have a ton of trubble editing the train paths. As far as I know, no ones done such a thing yet.

Yeah.. May be it's impossible, but hey, what if it is. I imagine how hard to create paths, but they are not so necessary in beginning. The chief thing is to make this kind of lot work.

On SCC, there was a rail overpass, but it wasn't very good. It worked, though.

Personally, I'd much rather see the reverse of this.  I'd prefer the road to go under the rail line, because in the real world heavy rail lines don't change height very often because its a LOT harder for a train to take than a car...

Yes, you're right. It looks not so realistic, I work on a reverse version now, cause I cannot enable this lot even for one kind of traffic a whole hours.
Very strange, I use Qbert2's guide to add traffic flow to lots.. When I create roadtop railroads all was great, they still works perfectly.. and now, I can't add traffic flow to this lot.. Rather I can (I see little green car, riding over this lot) but passenger and other trains are not going through this.. damn..

Well, this is more realistic overpass. The road is under railway.

    >

But this all destroys every hope of success.. Too hard for me.

AHHH! Dont give up! This looks amazing, you've already gone through all the trouble of making the lot, why not find some talented people who are willing to help you and do this. I think both versions would be really great in game! Dont give up!!!

Have you ever read this thread:
Redlotus worked on the same thing before the BAT came out. Maybe he can help you. I'm definitly looking forwarth to the result of this project. Keep up the good work<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif>

Looks good!  But I would suggest making it shorter.  Cars can take pretty steep hills, so there's no need to make the slope as long and smooth as you did for the rail version.

I'm sure we can get someone to help make this fully transit-enabled once it's completed...

I agree with Toroca, the road doesn't need to slope as gently. I also think you should talk to redlotus. 7trumpets and Red are the best SC4 transit moders.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/35.gif>

We have those types ov under passes here. When I get home, I'll post an aerial picture so you can see how they really slope. They are pretty steep!

To me, this would be the most realistic overpass for urban settings. Perhaps you can add walls or railing to the rail over road, simular to the fince on your first image (road over rail).

As for the slope, I wouldn't want to see the steepness very much more than it is now. The average car and truck do have their limits.

Your first posting (road over rail) wouldn't be too bad for some forms of light rail.

Well, I've decide to post this one here in modding.. My knowelge on modding is very-very poor, but I have ideas.

One of them - to create railway underpass under any kind of roads.

At this moment I create a ploppable BETA lot of such underpass (railway under road).

    marrasttbpr001.jpg

As you can see, the road and the railway are connected to this lot, but..
There is no traffic. When I test it ingame, traffic map tells me that there is no road connection on this lot.

Admittedly, the problem is that road traffic tile lays on a railway traffic tile in a center of this lot.

First problem is to make correclty working railway underpass and road overpass in one tile (I think is could be somethng like railway crossing)

Second problem. and I think is most intresting, is to create correct PATH for trains (something like el. train/subway transition)..

    I will try to find some info about it all, but if some of you (especially, you guys, from transport division :}), can help me, this will be more faster! :}

    EDIT:

I think that answer is somewhere near the tunnels.
Tunnel entrance is something like teleportation, so, if I will find out how to apply tunnel properties to appointed tiles of this lot..

I like the road-under-rail one.  A lot.  Please don't give up!

Are you sure it isn't working?  The automata engine isn't exactly precise.  If you can U-Drive-It through the thing on both networks, then it's working.

If you get frustrated with it, and want to move on, can you post whatever you've got?  I'd be willing to take a look at the internals.

Ahh, peeps! I'm glad that you all like this stuff.
I will try to make it finnaly. But not yet, I've got to go to sleep right now.

Tomorow I will try to find a time for reading all these commments again and working on this idea. May be I'll finish graphic part of this lot and post a ZIP with BETA.

    Thanks, guys!

I really like all this stuff you are making. I think this will be awesome once done. I wish 7trumpets were still around he could save the day and have this thing working in no time. Im sure Redlotus or DM will be along shortly though and they willl be able to do pretty much the same. I really need to get busy and look into more of this stuff so i can make the modd saqud title under my name more usefull.

Oh and i think that the rail under road might be more pracical for sc4. I know its not that way in real life but if it is done that way then we wont have to worry about gettign njz's next to the lot.

Oh and you might want to start work on an avenue and highway version becuase its likely a normal road version wont be as popular. In big cities when somethgin liek thsi is acctually done its usually for major arteries.

BTW Someone mentioned Redlotus' road-to-rail overpass, which is basically a transport enabled lot. It didn't 'look' good however.. but with the BAT we are able to build props to make it look better!!!

The city changed the URL of their website, so I can't find on. I'll try Google.
