    .. Ok, I have a question to everyone who cares :}

    I can enable civic cars driving through this lot, BUT.. This will make trains disappear on approach to this lot and you will never see this marvellous moment, when the train going over the road..

    Next, we have two variants of development:

    First, is to add two additional side tiles to this lot, to allow railway connection to this lot.


    Second, a little bit uggly: is to create a railway prop, that will overstep the bounds of the lot to overlay dead-ended railways tiles, for visual illusion, that the railway is connected to the lot (It will not work well if you have sloping land tiles of each side of the lot).

    Oh, yeah, the train pathfinding can find trainpaths through this lot without railway connection, you just need to plase it next to the lot.

    So, what do you think?


    And about path again:

    In theory, to make correct visualization of this lot, the underground parts must be as lot foundation, BUT, lot foundation is visible only when main textures is invisible (now I know how to create non-textured tiles)and the lot places on a slope (exept subway-eltrain transition) The worst problem, is to make foundation visible on a flat land, or rather to make terrain texture disappear like on a subway-eltrain transition when it's connected to the subway.
    Ow.. besides, subway-eltrain transition has no lot foundation, it has an underground part of building prop, that becomes visible, when it's connected to the subway.
    Damn, the question is how to make terrain texture disappear when its not a slope?

    ..well if there aren't any easier ways to solve the civic cars' pathfinding, i rather keep the lots as they are..

    I also would say; keep them as they are... at this time they just look too good to change them. Additional tile at the sides would spoil it a bit... but hey... this is what I would prefer.
    Anyway, I will certainly keep looking forward for these lots whatever you decide.

    And to Redlotus; can't wait what you will come up with, I already liked you 'older' road-overpasses.

    What do you think of a cooperation between you an Marrast? I am certain the two of you could very soon produce the best transport add-ons sofar

    Red, I hope that it isn't this painfully obvious, and I'm just paranoid, but could the game only need a texture/model to display for the underpasses? I mean the road/G. Highway Overpass obviously has a custom model.

    The other problem, even with the future overpasses and other roads nearby, if the underpass is the shortest route, the dispatched vehicles don't care. They continue to try, and dissapear after 20 seconds.

    Sadly, if the can't be made functional in all aspects, I probably won't use them. Lovely work aside, I like to watch my cities, especially traffic and trains.

    Hehe.  I can assure you that there is a full 3D model under the terrain in my pic.  The problem is that the network intersections don't work quite the same as lots do.  They cannot go underground.

    But anyways, I'd have to agree with your last statement.  I also believe that many others feel the same way.  That is the biggest reason that I stopped making overpasses a few months back.

    Red, I have a thought. Can the lot be made to adjust the ground underneath? At this point it technically would not be underground. Or would the lot still be considered underground at that point?

    That is a huge problem and it might keep me from useing marrast's underpasses. I'll need to think about it.

    Hey, I have an Idea.  I was watching a movie and noticed something. At a lot of airports, there are road Underpasses that go beneath the Runways or Plane Taxi-ing areas.  That would work well with the Airport Pack that was released.  I've had trouble keeping the control Tower near the Runways without having to run a road right through the center of the airport.  This would work nicely. :-D

    Seems like I'm an overpass maniac :} I have new type of overpass for ya! =:} It will be quite great, when it will be finished. And HUGE thanks to Oppie, for his great Canal Set.

    So, this is monorail canal overpass.

    I was experimenting with it tonight. It works very well, exept one - the train stops on it, as though it's monorail station :}

    What I'm gonna do next:

    First, I will try to find in SC4Dat files monorail track textures, to make maximum coincident model of tracks.
    then, I will create few variants of this water overpass.

    By the way, I think its really possible, to make monorail strips going over and ALONG the canal! =:}

    The mayor problem here - is to make the train going through this lok without stop.. huh :}

    There was an airport pack posted on the LEX a while back.  It allowed you to place runways and such so you could make a much larger and more realistic airport.  It is pretty nice.

    Marrast - I'm loving the work you've done so far. Keep it up!

    Redlotus - That monorail overpass looks so real! Also - If possible, could you make a one-way road overpass for ground-level highways? There's not one currently with the game.

    I look forward to watching how this progresses.

    Well, I would of never guessed you used a dictionary. Your english is great. As for slang/abbreviations like DOH, D/L. G/f, IMO, IMHO, etc. I either figured them out on my own or Equinox helped me. (He's a great teacher) Thanks Equinox.

    P.S. I'm even in the U.S. and have been since I was born. So, your not the only one marrast who doesn't understand the abbreviations.

    To Equinox: In theory, it's gonna be a bit like this:

    So:

    |---| - is the canal bounds

    ==== - is 1x3 or 1x4 canal lot with enabled monorail traffic and tracks over the water.

    [=] - is 1x1 non-canal water tile, just land tile, where must be placed original ingame monorail truss, that will connect all these lots one to another. =:}

    I just got see what you were doing with the monorail and I really like it. I can put monorail over canals... *starts to think* Will you be doing EL rail too?

    Oh, I see.. I will think about it. To tell the truth, I'm a bit bored with all these underpass problems, I need a little brake :}

    By the way, among creating monorail-on-canal overpasses, I'm preparing my pedestrian enabled foot-paths set for LEX,(very useful, you know :}).

    And that's more intresting - I'm experimenting on pedestrian enabled stairs lot! You know, when you have a slope, you can place a stairs on it, and it will connect roads at the bottom of the slope, and at the top of it, no matter what angle this slope has, the stairs always have right directed footsteps :}

    Marrast the Airport pack is mine check out my name in the STEX you should find the latest version it always amazes me just how many people still dont knwo about the pack and could benefit so much from it. Also i love the idea of an avenue under runway intersection and this could be a lot with path files becuas the runway doesnt use path files so it wouldnt be a true intersection.
     
    Also i probably wont use these lots until i can get ahold of a highway version simply becuase you cant cross a ground level highway and a train.
     
    Oh and redlotus you say you can make new intersections does this mean the possibility of new highway intersections. And also are these interectiosn automatic of just placed like a lot is?
