Lordy gajorby! o.O That has to be one of the largest regions I've seen! And no plugins to boot!

I've never done something of this magnitude. Just get a look at that config! It's so complex! I would have just made the whole thing large tiles but you sir are going all the way. My helmet's off to you. 9.gif

I'm the 'A' to the 'r', to the c-h-e-a-n,
and even though my name means 'old' I'm really quite pimp,
I'm Archilicious.

    thanks...

it's really cool when i decide to finally add the nam or whatever plugins because a click will add turn lanes to whatever intersection... i will continue this unplugged just incase anyone wants it...

on the other side i finally named and counted out all the cities in the Municipality Matrix

    396 small cities

    297 medium cities

    45 large cities

    region total 738 cities

    res pop 1900711

    commerice 310917

    industry 677229

    TheMunicipalityNAME.jpg

expansion into the easy tiles will contiune and i am going to place one of each of the maxis  landmarks in the region

i may even build some dubai like land masses... i'v also quadurpled the region but i will have to do all the terriforming in game since my computer can't handle the gigantic version in the terriformer and i wont be able to show any region shots like this with the region census...you will all have to wait till i get a better computer

thanks to all for comments, qusetions and requests

    i love simcity4

    Pretty epic man...

The only thing I'd recommend is connecting the developed areas of the region more. I'm sure the populations are HUGE, but isolation can make a big difference.

    Cheers

It technically is around the downtown but the city is not all downtown. I don't know if I wrote that clearly.

the regions are all connected by at least a road connection so none are really that isolated... as education levels increase there will be less demand for the farm land which will be replaced by approprate zones

this is not really a downtown... i wanted to boost commerical demand so i legalized gambling, then built the casino... the city was still pretty uneducated so the demand for small shops was throught the roof... i then put water plants and had r$ going through the roof... i calmed demand by zoning some medium and high density residental (as most low density turned into rich sims.. which i kept) i widended the busiest route with an avenue... as zone 17's eq increases the shops will become bigger and i will get some co development making it more of a downtown.. but as of now it is a unique area with a bit of everything...

yeah, it's more of a betting community... the lucky ones get to work in the high tech industry and live in the fancy homes throughout the town... the unlucky ones are crammed into one of the highrise structures and work in the farms or the small shops...

That is a very fantasic region!

I would usually comment about how to improve, like... Download this building, or what not..

Or tell the person how to make the cities look better with this method.. but all my ideas are based on my plugins.. So... I'll just tell you that your doing a wonderful job building a All Maxis region.. Defiantly better than I can do...

it would take a lot of plugins to fill a region this size... makes me wonder why people spend so much time on one city or massive amounts of time filtering through everything in the stex to make a city when the game came with all it takes... im sure if you gave it a little time you could create something that makes mine look like a waste of time using maxis only items

    Views around town

The matrix protects it's self (mainly from debt) with about 100 of these suckers

    33-1.jpg

This happens to be one of my busiest highways... 24,000 sims commute through this passage every day... the traffic almost never goes away

    32-1.jpg

with so much traffic it has to be elevated to avoid the bad drivers below

    31-2.jpg

Around town i like to mix high-tech and commerical to give the city some color

    30-2.jpg

and i know i could plop the airport right in the center of this mess... but i like to create a buffer...

    29-2.jpg

Medium density is starting to be used more.. but this area looks like it could use a park, eh

    28-2.jpg

an on/off ramp for one of the busier traffic corridors

    27-2.jpg

this chopper was running into all the buildings around town...

    26-1.jpg

Nice location for a large green park

    25-2.jpg

lets get a bite a top one of the finest bistros in the matrix and see if we can see any stars at the capitol records building

    24-2.jpg

i'm usually not too fond of golf... but when the sims wanted me to build a mayors house i could think of no better place...

    23-2.jpg

    gleaming high-tech road

    22-2.jpg

the soccer feild durring an intense game... i can almost hear the vuvuzelas

    21-2.jpg

stack em up and pack em in... that's the motto on this block... more sims in these 2 building then many towns in the matrix

    20-2.jpg

lets get away for a while... i know a great place

    19-2.jpg

somewhere here? closer look maybe? one day this could be all highrise condos and 5 star hotels...

    18-2.jpg

ths sims are planning on breaking some land away in this sector to connect many more cities with ferries

    17-3.jpg

they even built their bridges up high so they may pass under... 16 of each type of ferry in the city... this place will one day be littered with them... the sims plan ahead

    16-3.jpg

how about a quiet neighborhood instead?? one day all these streets will become roads...or just the busy streets

    15-2.jpg

some of the best apples and oranges come from this little district... and the sims like to compare them

    14-3.jpg

take me out to the ball game... or just let me stay home... i can see it all from my penthouse suite

    13-3.jpg

    bureaucratic bureaucrats of the bureaucracy

    12-3.jpg

i like how the sidewalks taper when roads and streets intersect

    11-3.jpg

this town happened when the sims built a dam in a zone further down the river...

    10-3.jpg

everyday more land is lost to the water... someday this may be an island

    9-3.jpg

the next morning... i think somoene was gettting carjacked in this picture... i saw someone running at full speed next to a car... anyways this place needs a police station

    8-3.jpg

well hope you enjoyed the close up view... cities are being filled every day

    6-4.jpg

    5-5.jpg

    4-5.jpg

    3-5.jpg

    2-5.jpg

    1-5.jpg

    62110.jpg

(should i start a journal in the other section??)

    oh, and still no plugins!

    Wow no replies!

This is really nice, and looks really satisfying to play.

For your next challenge do you think you could do this with vanilla SC4?

    Keep up the good work.

if i spent all day naming everything unique then it would take a long time. districts are smallest tile areas, sectors are largest, and zones are medium size.. names could be added later though... i just wanna be organized... i have this all on graph paper too

the region is all supposed to be one city... im going to show how regional trading is done... ill have giant power company cities and landfill cities... with vast trading networks and transport options... i want to play simcity not be thinking about what to call it... gotta be organized when you get this big
