Miniature New York (amazing video)

Its the same type of video as the NAB adverts here in Australia. Which is stunning to watch, and it cool to think he did that over NY, and the tons of effects he had to do. Just one question, is it normal for the people of NYC to through the water (or whatever it was) over the street? When I saw that, it just made me speechless.

Fantastic video though, seems as though you are watching a tiny New York carry out its day (hence the name!).quote>

    Oh, fixed it 3.gif

@water thing: I'm not sure, I think it was a little odd too.

Wow, I thought he had actually made like a model of it for the first few seconds until i saw the guy with the hose pipe and realised there's no way he could have got the splash. I've never seen tilt-shift before this so it completely amazes me, and confuses me.

That was a breath taking video. 9.gif I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you so much for posting that! I would never be able to find that online...3.gif

I really thought it was a model that looked so realistic at first... 3.gif These people took amazing pictures.

Heh. Well, they got the behavior of the pedestrians down. Scamper across the middle of the block... Step out into the street, wait for an opening, then run...

The traffic behaves like free flowing New York traffic, although gridlock is noticably absent.

It's perfectly normal for people to hose off the sidewalk in front of their place of business. Some products are often displayed on racks and shelves or in boxes the sidewalk, so it needs to be kept clean... and the stuff being displayed can create mess, depending on what it is (any food items are likely to be problematic in this regard). Beyond that, New Yorkers are dirty creatures, so you're going to start getting various forms of litter and rubbish to worry about even if none of it is directly yours.

Going all the way out into the middle of the street with the hose is less common, but I've seen it done. If your mess has spread that far, so does your cleanup. For instance, the Fulton Fish Market, before it moved up to Hunt's Point, would result in a lot of crud in the streets that they'd need to wash up. Right next to South Street Seaport, increasingly a tourist trap destination, that was really unsightly, so the city was glad to have them move.

I thought this was amazing too, and then I showed my wife and she totally didn't get it... she just said: "What? It's just sped up." And then I said "But it looks like a miniature model!" and she's like "No it doesn't."

Maybe its like one of those magic eye things, where some people just don't see it.

Beautiful video! It's just amazing 19.gif

Thanks for posting a link here!

But could someone, please, explain me what's happening at 3:38 - is that guy just pouring dirty water on the street or what?

Wow, this is amazing; thanks for sharing that!

Tilt- shift, which is what this type of video is called, is one of the most unique ways to show time lapse. I really like this. 4.gif
