Good job, but I have 1 stupid question:

Where do you get the sunken highway exits that go up to acommodate the sunken highway?

you gotta have the nam smarty. when u bring up the highway menu its like the 2nd one from the bottom. then just hold shift and press the tab key 2-3 times and u will get that ramp piece. then use the road pieces in ure road menu for the right fit.

lol Haljackey used my signs...they must be really good huh? But then, you don't really need impressive BATing skills to make good signs...they are pretty easy. I'm glad you found a use for them! I'll be back with my own pics soon if I can find some good examples...or make them...

NMUSpidey: My train stations?  You can find them HERE (its in German, and you have to hunt for them a bit).  Click on "mods and ubersetzungen" (the elevated rail station picture)

Or, THIS DIRECT LINK may work as well 6.gif

bbfan02: I have officially lost count.  I think I am somewhere in the hundreds!

Flann: I will see what I can whip up for ya! 4.gif

Ozon: Nice split highway once again!  I think your "ramps" are very short and sharp though.  If you are aiming to build a classic cloverleaf with a split highway, the curved road puzzle pieces in the NAM may help you out.  You could also use nice one-way curves which will both add to the image and also the functionality (2 lanes, one way will beef up your capacity a bit).  Finially, you could use the awesome RHW network for your concept with one-ways.  I have an old example to show you how to make it with an interchange with an ave. (similar to what you are doing, but not the same):

    The image

tahill79: Nice use of the NAM straight ramps!  Once again, I am not fond of the sharp 90 degree turns your ramps have just as they leave the highway though.  Try to elongate the ramps to nice 45 degree curves which will add a lot to your image!  Rollovers would be an everyday occurance if that thing existed in reality, with some trucks possibly falling back on the highway 3.gif

Yoshiisland:  They are nice, I use a few from time to time if they fit the setting and look cool where they are placed.  I haven't made signs myself before, but if I ever get into it, I will come to you!  Ive always wanted to create some 400-Series Highways signs for my highways.  There are a few basic ones on the STEX, but they are very bland and do not have night lighting and the grass texture does not line up with anything.

Whew!  A lot of replies, and excellent work I must say!  Sorry I took so long to respond, RL and university is KiLlInG me right now, and will continue to this month!  I may have some new ones to post soon.  Keep showing us your interchanges!

    Best,

    -Haljackey

Ozon:  Well, its just my opinion on your interchanges.  I meant no offense whatsoever!  Its just very different than what I see around here.  I live in the Province of Ontario, Canada, where there is a very modern highway network connecting major cities.  There are not too many highways, so the ones that do exist are used heavily, and thus the province needs to continually widen/reconstruct the routes so that they can handle the volumes they carry safely and efficiently.  They have been rated the safest highways in the world for more than 10 years, and one highway (Highway 401) is the widest and busiest in the world (18 continuous lanes and over 600,000 cars a day in some sections).  Click HERE for more information if you are interested.

Here is a picture of a standard interchange around here, called a Parclo (A-4) interchange from Google Maps:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&ll=43.648249,-79.637371&spn=0.004635,0.011759&t=k&z=17&om=1

tahill79: Once again, like I said to Ozon, Its just my opinion, no offense.  I can't believe they actually exist!  Thats crazy!

Anyways, as Flann requested, I will post some "mass transit" interchanges I have.  They are nothing like my highways, but they are still cool, eh?

How did you get the RHW to ground highway interchange in the top right?

    Anyways, fantastic work as usual!

Smarty, I believe he used the avenue to do that.

Example: Highway, avenue (one small tile), then RHW. That is how I do it and it works. I bet Haljackey did it that way. JKB

I'm talking about where the highway splits into four lanes to create a mini T interchange. Nice Work BTW.

    @Haljackey

Nono, dont get me wrong, i wasnt offended, sometimes it is a bit disappointing, that its not possible to recreate european interchanges as attractive as u can rebuilt "american style"-interchanges with the tools of SC & NAM....

So its hard when interchanges are mostly judged eyecandy, because my main goal is to afford the full realistic function (i.e. indirect ramps).

Further i just wanted to make clear with my post, that there are major differences in highwaybuilding-concepts all over the world!

You have for example to take in account: density the country is settled, aproximatly distance between cities and junctions, alternative routes available and so on.

Of course in Ontario there is a lot of space, so the highwaylayout is much more "generous" concerning the space used. (Compare Ontario 11,7 people/km

I don't really know what you are talking about. In the top right of the image, the RHW converts to a one way to intersect with a road, not a ground highway.

However, if you meant to mean the bottom right, all you have to do is build a T-bone interchange, convert the highway stub from the interchange to an avenue, and then connect the avenue stub to a RHW.  Is that what you were asking?

Its not a mini T-bone interchange, its the full thing!

Bakercity: Nice rail junction there.  Your image is a little blurry (or is it just me?).  Did you stretch or compress your image at all?

-If you stretched it, you should keep it in its original format to avoid it looking so blurry.

-If you compressed it, you can resize your image or provide a link to it in full resolution (like how I post most of my pictures in this thread.)

tahil79: does my answer to Smarty 218 help you at all?  The RHW network is very flexable, and thats why I am a "bigga" fan of it.

Ozon: Just keep in mind that although Ontario has a pop density of 11.7 people per km2, 99% of the population lives in the extreme south, where densities are very high (more than 8 million people live in or near Toronto, but not me 3.gif.).  Canadian interchanges are nothing like American ones, so don't confuse the two.  Its like comparing Germany's to China's 3.gif

I am also looking forward to the MIS system.  Those guys are taking their sweet time with it, so it should have sweet results!  (not rushing them, but I do have high expectations!)

    Keep showing us your interchanges!

PedroSM:  Thats one of the largest roundabouts I've seen!

Smarty218: So BOTH the highways tunnel?  Is there an underground intersection?  Shouldn't one be above the tunnel to prevent an intersection???

-Nice palm trees though (see, I'm nice too 3.gif)

    Breaking News!

There is a new thread in City: Building concepts forum called "Show us your Freeway" (which I think should be changed to "Show Us Your Highways!" because of their name in SC4 and the worldwide definition) where the highways themselves can be shown, not just the interchanges.  I have posted a few new images over there, and if you have photos to show of actual highways, than there is now a place to show it!

I also have a question to ask:  Does anyone know how to take a video in SC4 and put it into a format that can be played on youtube, and then linked to ST?  If you do know how to do this, please send me a link to a tutorial or PM me.  Many thanks.

    Keep showing us your interchanges!

That is the most complex roundabout I've ever seen, could you post a data view of the traffic, if its quite bust I' like to see it - awesome and great roundabout in the center.

sc4portugal: Well, I ment in the eyes of SC4.  They are called highways, and in many places in the world, this type of network is commonly referred to as a highway.

This is an animation zooming in and out, to show the context of the interchange:

The city changed a little since i posted the fist picture, and now you can see that is some new buildings around, and some others doesn't exist anymore... The city is growing up.
