This is so great! I'm a big fan of your 'alternative approach'. That building with the supermarket looks fantastic! 19.gif

kj3400: Thanks for your comment! Some simtropolitans don't know to say if it's "nice" or "unnice"...

Benedict: Thank you for commenting, my friend!

StanislavSoltys: Thanks for your comment! Definately, the bridge needed an overhaul and here it is!

packersfan: Thank you for commenting! If it was for me, I would make much longer updates (there have been a couple of extra-large updates telling an specific story) but I'm building Blackwater in a medium city tile and two small city tiles, there's not much space to place things and if I showed everything in long updates, this CJ could be done in five or six updates...

heitomat: Thanks for your comment! Well, after seeing Glenni's, SimHoTToDDy's and art128's (the guys that inspired me) approach, I wouldn't dare to say this is alternative...2.gif

Blackwater sees a lot of freight traffic all over the day. Some comes to be processed, some comes to stay and some only passes by. Let's see how.

    42866061.jpg

This freight station specialized in grain serves several factories dedicated to make derivated products such as bread and breakfast cereal. It isn't uncommon to see rats running through the rail tracks.

Some of the trash goes to the dump by boat; small junker boats sail the canal dodging much larger ships all day long. And sometimes, some load falls to the canal, putting the "black" in Blackwater with the help of the power plant.

Remember the airport so close to the city? As all medium-sized airports, it can handle some cargo traffic; now we can see an Etihad Airways cargo plane taking off from the airport and flying over the fed up dwellers.

A great selection of BATs has made this look great. Realistic, but actually nicer than the real version of things. Very good work 4.gif

Mr. Cortez: Thanks for your comment, I feel so sad this CJ reminds you your home. It must be kinda horrible place...

Benedict: Thank you for commenting, my friend! I guess you could consider it the icing on the cake.

Schulmanator: Thanks for commenting! It's always nicer on SC4 than on real life...

As you may know, not everything is air and water pollution in Blackwater. Teen (and not so teen) gangs have divided the whole city in different territories, and if a member of one gang is seen in another gang's territory, can be in serious trouble...

    35366212.jpg

Seems that a "Brown Hound" member has been seen on Blackwater's Market District, which is "Sword"'s main territory. In a few minutes, all gang members meet in an apartment and organise a "seek-and-destroy". They all come to the appointment, because none of them has something better to do.

    40960757.jpg

Meanwhile, the "Brown Hounds" spend their day as usual; chatting and taking drugs while they watch how the youngest members assault the supermarket once again. They're still unaware of what's coming from the south.

    47301784.jpg

Some minutes later, the "Swords" come with their customized silver grey cars parking on the grass lawns. They carry a load of baseball bats and some firearms, ready to "defend" their territory. But the "Brown Hounds" know how to protect themselves... Seems that Capital City's morgue will welcome new guests within the next hours.

Glorious low wealth!  Gangs are not nice, but they exist in most world cities.  Your coverage makes this CJ more realistic than most!  Many people (myself included) tend to build utopias.  Great stuff.  Todd's recent BATs are perfect for Tenements and Rust 9.gif

I love how you show all the rundown areas, projects, very realistic. I like your RHW and interchanges as well.

L0L Living in this city will be total misery and dirt. Great job on the industry section and noise pollution. By the way, does it rain with acidity? 10/10

psander5: Thanks for commenting! You build utopias, I build dystopias...2.gif

dfnva: Thank you for your comment! To be honest, I only know to do an small variety of things with the RHW, when I get into the "Show us your interchanges" thread I'm instantly in awe.

benedict: Thank you for your comment, my friend; glad you like the new banner.

Lot Creator: Thanks for commenting! Of course there's acid rain! I've shown it a couple of times since I began this CJ...

It's been a busy week, but fortunately; with Spain in holidays (and with an airport chaos), I've been able to pull an update. Seems I'm running out of stuff to show in Blackwater, but I've got more projects in the pipeline.

    79234496.jpg

Not many cars in the streets today. The aftermath of the massive fight that Blackwater lived yesterday has scared the population. Streets are empty, really empty.

    71911094.jpg

Its easy to drive down the highway, even the cops are scared and the ones who have commuted today, have carpooled. Some, haven't gone to their jobs.

    63163394.jpg

During the afternoon, everybody's home. Even the usually drowded Faraday Avenue is a paradise for commuters today. Gangs have (finally) taken Blackwater and the anarchy has established as the new local goverment.

Great job. I keep forgetting I haven't put up my first city update, yet, but I hope you stop by and comment on my attempt at realistically rundown industrial/residential areas.

No kids on the streets. No elder people taking a walk. No cars on the roads. Just blocks. Welcome to the Workers City.

It has been a long time since my last visit here, and yet the life looks as grey and depressive as back then... Well, it's a good reality check for all of us here who build fairy-tales, not real life cities! Keep it up!
