Tell us what your nomination(s) are/is for your favorite European Cities, you can choose these or other cities, these are just for ideas,

Berlin, Germany

Frankfurt, Germany

L'viv, Ukraine

Kiev, Ukraine

Warsaw, Poland

St. Petersburg, Russia

Moscow, Russia

Paris, France

Amsterdam, Netherlands

London, England

Rome, Italy

Madrid, Spain

Athens, Greece

etc.

Remember, It HAS to be from Europe, not somewhere else. If you want, you can add pictures, or more than one city, but NOT more than five! My favorite is Berlin, Germany, and L'viv, Ukraine. Happy choosing!9.gif

Wow, I 3rd first post in a row :-)

My favorite is my hometown Piter, I am biased, but Saint Petersburg has so much history and great arctecture that Soviets let stay, as well as parts of the city with towering prefabricated concrete Apartments that were the signiture of Soviet Times.  I live in city centere and all I see is beautiful pre-revolution buildings and a fortress.  Palace Square is also so much nicer than Red Square :-)

It's a toss-up between Paris and London. Paris is fantastic for the lover of art and of food, and is nicer to walk around then London. On the other hand, London has a fantastic theatre scene in the west end and some wonderful museums for more than just art. Of course don't forget the amazing history of both places.

Honestly I think the greatest city in Europe would have to be Venice. I find there is an interesting lure to Venice because it is one of the the only cities that you feel "man I have to get there before she sinks". And I thinks that makes her one of the few cities the feel like they are almost she is mortal. That defines Venice from other cities not only in Europe but in the rest of the World. And there is always the regular reasons great views, awsome history, Italian girls that only speak a little english so it more of an adventure trying to pick them up , all the buildings aren't communist grey, etc

So there is my nomination.

(Sorry about the metphors im out of school for the winter so i have to keep the mind sharp or suffer when I go back in May)

A city that has struck me as beautiful the moment I got off the train would have to be STOCKHOLM!! I immediately fell in love with the Swedish capitol and it's people, water everywhere (I love cities by the water). Especially appealing was the old part of Stockholm in Gamla Stan. The Wasa Museum - awesome!

by far and away Rome - The roads are chaotic, the city is in layers. While other cities in europe have moved newer buildings to different sections, rome is thousands of years built upon itself. Absolutely stunning.

Second is Naples - again a mess of chaotic road system, mere kilometers from Mount Vesuvius - the city is also built up the vulcano. Many thousands of years of history, not to mention some of the most beautiful places on earth within its grasp - capri, sorrento, etc.

third - Monte Carlo

fourth - Florence

fith - Barcalona

I fear the only reason london is mentioned so much is because its really the main city people outside of the uk will go to or have heard a lot about.... its over crowded and not that astheically pleasing....i didnt really enjoy my time there.

Edinburgh(Scotland), UK is one of the most beautiful cities I've been too. Its got a very medieval look to areas of it and its just very pretty and a nice place.

I visited most of the European major cities, i'll say:

1. Paris, with a lot of distance (it's the French symmetry what makes it more beautiful than London in my opinion)

2. Berlin, not very beautiful in appearance, but it just feels like home

3. London

4. Amsterdam (...)

5. Madrid

Paris and Vienna 36.gif

Two very different, but equally charming cities... Both an inspiration to my own city 5.gif

Whenever I go to one of these cities, it feels like coming back home 19.gif

1: Toulouse, France (La Ville Rose(The Pink City). Known for its red brick, its sweetness of life, the aerospace industry and the rugby, it is the 4th city of France. Toulouse is also my hometown, and I'm growing near of this city.)

2: London, UK (Its unique architecture and stunning monuments made me fall in love for this city).

Vienna, Austria... by far. There are a lot of nice cities in Europe, but every city has some sort of turn-off too. Vienna doesn't seem to have one however.

One of the most beautiful capitals in Europe! It has so much soul into it.
