We can all speculate now, but the actual details (release, terms) are not even released..

I think we all have to wait for that, and in the meanwhile discuss the actual content pack...

I'm hoping it's possible to set up a bunch of small farming villages similar to rural England, it was beautiful driving around there when we were on holidays 4.gif

That's a very good idea, could be used very well on a map like the Wetlands etc.

Don't forget Androv that we're also expecting a new farm model too. 9.gif

I’m not going to beg and plead for MC to release  these packs to single player, because ultimately it is my money they are going to miss out on. So bad luck.
well for me the diversity of buildings, roads, and other content is stopping me from really enjoying the game, and I don't mind paying for extra content for single pay,
maybe, Gregory you should suggest some type online shop for people to buy all these new packs, I do think it would be beneficial for MC to release these packs to the general community in single payer, if there is any doubt on why you should be doing this then you should think about all the extra money MC you we getting from a the sales of these "packs" and this would probably also have a positive affect on the BOX sales of the game, give people options and they will buy anything.

The if the good people at MC are thinking "if these packs are only available to PO costumers, this would boost sales" then they are running a misguided campaign, there would be people out there how will buy the PO and there will be people that wont, for the people that wont, trying to force them, with the attitude of "you have to buy it to get the full game" wont make them buy the PO, it would probably have a negative affect , because they feel they are getting rip off. Anyway why you MC exclude these people from all theses other sales, simply because for whatever resign they don't won't to buy the PO. Money is money

Guys we do not need yet another round of "I don't wanna pay for the PO" argument.   If your only intention is to come into this thread and troll the same arguements and complaints over and over then don't.

Please keep to the topic of the thread which is the upcoming content pack.

While its clear that MonteCristo may wish to revisit the pricing issue with Single Players (just to get them to shut up?) ( 4.gif - kidding, kidding) .... I think its awesome that they are once again proving how insanely devoted they are to the continued growth and enhancement of this game. Such a fast turnaround for an expansion pack is unheard of. My comment here goes out to all those debates I engaged in with the naysayers (you know who you are - may you hang your heads in shame) prior to release, who were complaining that 1.0 wasn't awesome enough. As I stated, its what they do after release of 1.0 that matters most, and they've surpassed my expectations, and yours.

Maybe Simtropolis can make a forum for Single Player people, so that us PO people don't have to see every - single - thread hijacked into a complaining fest for "Why do they get it and we dont?"

They said it would be "early" this week. And yesterday's news post said "in upcoming days". So I'm hoping it hits tomorrow when they do the server maintenance. It would make sense to me to be the time to release new content.

The images before the release looked nice, but I though that it still be a lame addon. But now when I got to see it I must say that I love it!

I escpecially like the new utility buildings; the small park and church and the leisure building (that seem to be a shop).

The Content Pack has been released and the first medieval neighbourhood have been created 4.gif

I don't know if it will stop the hijacking of threads ( 2.gif ), but we are also discussing ways to release content for solo players as DLC. This discussion is still in the "if, how & when" stage, so do not take this as official announcement, but know we are not ignoring the requests done many times here. I'll come back to you as soon as I have more info.

I have just removed several posts from this thread which were off topic.  Please make complaints about the Planet Offer or CXL in the designated topics.  Please make them courteously, and talk about the issue, not each other.  Craig (abcvs) had asked you to do this previously in this thread, so please do not be surprised that they were removed.

And with the release of the first content pack, one thing has been made clear. Some content is not solely limited to the PO alone. This is great news for those who wanted solo play content.

Granted, it's not as awe inspiring as the PO exclusives, but it's still better than absolutely nothing. :3

And the peasants....rejoiced.

Thanks Mathew, this is great news indeed, although unofficial! At the very least it shows that you guys continue caring about the community, not to mention proving that you are indeed reading the forums and ceeping up with feedback!

But I guess it's too much to hope that this will shut up all the winers around here.

Personally (although I haven't even started playing) I think you really should consider releasing some content for SP as separately sold packs. It'll still generate income for you, giving at least some measure of satisfaction to the people that can't afford/don't want the monthly subscibtion, while at the same time keeping most of the beef for the PO.

It's your choice, though.

Boy, I can't wait to play!

P.S. Moderator, I know this is not strictly on-topic, but I couldn't think of where exactly to post it, and it's after all an answer to Mathew, who posted it here...

No worries soltangris... the posts that we remove are those that deliberate set out to simply carry on the same arguements over and over, start attacking other members personally, and start turning threads into flame fests.

Also as a general note please remember that while the CXL forums are well covered over the time zones... we are not necesarily here 24 hours a day.

If there are any posts that members are concerned about, please PM one of the moderators with a link.

Time for an update on the modding situation, I guess.

Currently, any modifications to the files will impact both solo and online game. And a "money tree" mod is perfectly fine when used only in solo, but becomes cheating as long as it is used online. And though I know the modding community has no intention of cheating or using mods to illegal means, I can tell you some players are doing so.

Unfortunately, the opposite statement is also true: any measure we might take to make cheating harder might cause issues for legit solo modding. At least, until we integrate changes to clearly separate both: such changes are currently under development and should take the simple form of a separate folder in which modified files could be added for solo and ignored when playing online.

Some of you will probably think this comes late, and it probably does, but though the basic idea is indeed simple, it takes a bit longer to technically implement it. On the other hand, solutions against online cheating cannot be postponed that much as they can ruin the game experience of other players. I'm sorry that in the meanwhile it means more workarounds for players who only want to play solo and mod their solo games.

Alpholy, the wording in the answer you received is a bit awkward, as it is not our policy to prevent solo modding, as I explained above. The only thing is we cannot provide support on modded clients. But as soon as this "mod folder" system is ready, modding will be made much easier.

Gregory's quote in French is a bit out of context here as it only refers to the online part of the game ("en ligne") and was in a thread about a mod that only modifies the textures for an avatar t-shirt.

I hope this will clear things up a bit on our position.

PS: As a note, a "sandbox mode" for solo, with infinite money and such, is also under development.

Hi Gregory,

I wish you guys would focus on the core game issues and add rail and smaller lots as opposed to content packs which don't speak about the many shortcomings of the game.

I for one would like to buy it but I can't justify purchasing something that isn't quite finished.

Any word on these changes or are they going to be content pack also?

i just hope that MC comes out with an expansion-pack for the singles players, i woudn't mind paying the extra money for it and it's not that i can't aford it it's just that i don't like subscriptions that's all, and this way everybody would be satisfied. I think CXL is an amazing simulation game and it was worth the waiting for its release, keep up the good work and thank you!

P.S. the first content pack looks really nice (a friend of mine has a subscription) lol.

No doubt MC's concern is that they will lose a lot of PO customers should they offer extra content to the sp guys, as it is entirely likely that the vast majority subscribe strictly for said content.

Why sell us the content when they can make us rent it, right?  I assume they're concerned that few will be willing to pay monthly for these additions when they can do a one-off purchase and keep the additional content permanently.

Pure speculation here, but perhaps this is why it's taking them so long to get back to us on this matter, because really, it's not overly complicated.  You would think it's a no-brainer to accept more money, but I suppose it's a bit of a gamble for them, as they have to know whether us rabid sp folks are bluffing re: our willingness to sign-up for the PO, because if they can get those hooks into us, they make a whole whack o' money.

It appears as though the wait-and-see strategy has come into play.
