I like reading about what the hard core city builders have to say, but I'd enjoy reading what they had to say if it weren't a road block in my gathering information on the forum topic.quote>

I don't own the game yet, but does anyone know if it's possible to modify Omnicorp to give better exchange rates?

It's possible but I am pretty sure discussion of how it's possible isn't allowed here on simtropolis if you get my drift.....

Right now we have no official word from Monte Cristo as to what is/isn't custom content.  All we know is it can't bypass the login system.

On the public offer you're lucky to get resources (fuel, water, power, waste) for under 70 C. But you can often sell your excess resources for more than OmniCorp will pay in single player mode. I'm not sure of the ideal balance here.

The problem is, the longer they wait to give informations regarding this, the more "unnoficial modders" will make their own tries locally and have some posiive results... So, I wouldn't be surprised if within the 15 minutes after they make informations "public", tons of mods will be published 4.gif (I already got 3 almost ready and 2 in progress yet 3.gif and i'm sure i'm not the only one)

So i'm not sure that "Stay quiet" is the best strategy for them... the longer they wait, the more "self-educated modders" will start to spread their work and knowledge around... and as they were "self educated", no1 told them (us) to do not modify this or this... so basically, the longer they wait, the more risk they take of having some "bad surprise" mods on "day 1"

So my thoughts is that we should get more info within 1 or 2 weeks from now...

And let me be clear about 1 thing, if they are still quiet at xmas, I'll go on.. I won't wait eternally 2.gif

it is possible to change the buy sell values. I currently sell to omnicorp for 100c and buy at 5c. Makes a big difference in solo mode but you guys will have to figure this out on your own less MC getting grumpy with me and ban me or something.....

How moddable is this game?

I have got the unpack tools/have looked at the unpacked files, however could not get these to work when I tried to put them back in the game.

Until the trade issue is fixed this game is only half playable.

It's still quite a bit of fun, however i think you should be able to turn off trade if you so wish (a sandbox mode 4.gif)

please keep in mind that if you use any mod that alters gameplay in ANY way in planet mode, it will be considered as cheating... Do if you get banned because of it, only blame yourself 4.gif

Also no one will answer your question... as Doug stated, you'll have to figure all things by yourself untill some official doc / tools are released...

many functions in the game can be unlocked...if you unpack and look at the files it's obvious that MC has put completed content in the game they are planning on activating at a later date....it's not that hard to do if you know what you're doing....i realize that doing so can get a ban from PO, but this whole thread is about the single player aspect of the game, so I am figuring people are mostly interested in activating content for single player functionality which is entirely possible and greatly increases the enjoyablity of the single player experience.

If MC sticks to their guns and doesn't release anything for Solo mode, CXL is going to end up dependent on custom content to be a decent game, even more so than SC4. It's only a matter of time before people start releasing Omnicorp mods to make trading tolerable and mods that unlock the content hidden in the game files.

The difference between CXL and SC4 mods is that any good mods for CXL are going to be competing with Planet Offer so what reason does MC have to allow them? They keep talking about how important user generated content/mods are to them but they've also made it clear that people paying them monthly for PO are much, much more important to them.

Modding the game is relevant to solo trading. Obviously, Omnicorp needs to be modified in order for solo mode to be good (though TBH I haven't played the final game yet so I don't know how difficult it is to survive on Omnicorp's terms, this is just based on beta experience).

Err, just to let you know that mod post has nothing to do with you.  They have been going this to let other mods know what has been read, and I have no doubt to let the forum users know that they are watching as well.

Though, I getting kind of curious as to what the official Simtropolis position is in regards to discussing modding of this game, just so that all users know.

Yeah, thanks for letting him know, and nah, not so much to feel that we're watching your every move like a hawk, ready to pounce at any tiny misstep.  20.gif  It may seem like that, but truly we just want the forums to be polite, respectful, and friendly.  But we guide that anyway, without marking, so the marking is just for our reference--it saves tons of time.

The official ST position on modding?  There really isn't one yet.  What makes it a bit of a sticky issue is that, yes, any mods would impact both the solo and online modes.  MC needs time to resolve this.  There will then be a public announcement.

As far as discussing it, I would imagine the discussion needs to be kept quite theoretical, definately not "how to".

Wow. So single player is broken, and the mmo part of online play is broken! Next time delay the product before you release a broken one.

I would like my money Back!

I just want to be able to use the website to do all my trading. I don't enjoy the in game trading system, and when im using my own intercity trade to balance my cities off, RELIABLY I get some boob accepting my own low ball trade offers, which would be A ok, if they weren't all cancelled 15 minutes later when said boob realizes that they are getting screwed on my deals... The entire ordeal would be much less harrowing if the trade system wasn't so central to the game that some nub can destroy your city over a matter of a couple turns by not thinking about their trades before they do them and wasting everyone elses time by using the free cities xl playing world as their guinea pig... OK, im done venting now ~bows

Eventually i think MC will give both players an opportunity to review the trading player before the deal becomes solid. Otherwise you'd end up with the video game equivalent of Japan trading human rights credits with Isreal and Canada buying water from Australia like situations...

is there any words from MC that they will improve solo trading? and to be able to trade resources with your own cities?

This is important because i stopped playing 4 days after i got the game. there is no value in it and i feel cheated. I really hope they do something about it or refund.
