We have two launch dates. 8 october for Germany and France if I am not misstaken and 9 october for the rest. (other european countries and US).

Don't ask me why France and Germany gets a head start. I am surprised that pre-order customers don't get a head start.

I pre-ordered paid download. After the preorder I got a confirmation e-mail. I am told that another e-mail will come on the 8th of October at 0:01 (12:01am), one minute after 7th of October ends and 8th of October starts. That e-mail will have an Activation Key and an URL to click on, in order to download the game.

That is how I interpreted how to get my copy.

Yes I received the same email, but now on the website there is link to preorder the digital version and when you click there is 09.10.2009. This is the date when you receive the activation code. It's very strange.

Like I said earlier.

October 8: Germany, France

October 9: the rest.

I have also pre-ordered the digital download and I received the following e-mail from support@gamesplanet.com:

We will send you your download links for the game via email the moment they are available then, on the day of release, the 08/10/2009 at 00:01, you'll get an email with your activation key.

If you visit www.gamesplanet.com you can read the following for Cities XL Limited Edition Pre-Order:

Play on the day of release! !

Get your download links and activation code by email the 09/10/2009 at 00:01.

Also notice that they don't mention the time zone. Is that GMT? or GMT+1?

The file size is now listed on gamesplanet.com: 3447 MB

i have visited several sites and each one won't let me order! so frustrating.

i have an american visa (and address) but i'm currently in s.korea.

this is from steam:

Your billing address doesn't look like it matches up with your current country. Please contact support for assistance or use a payment method registered to your current address.

but under settings, my country is listed as US - obviously my IP is from the ROK.

for such multinational corps, they sure seem to deter online purchases for expats. i guess i won't be buying the (half-of-a) game.

"Mass transportation (including buses) will be part of the future features and, as such, will only be part of the Planet Offer."

but wait a minuite. MC knew buses wern't going to be ready for the games release, thats why they said we would all be getting them free after the game was released. so how can they just change their mind like that? we were promised buses, the official website said so, and then they just decide that, for no good reason, we can't have them. isn't that false advertising? so they are basically saying that important game features weren't ready when the game was released, so you will have to pay a subscription to get them, and if you stop paying you will loose them! how can they treat customers like that?

just another broken promise by MC.quote>

MC does not expect (or want) anyone to really play single player. They want the online revenue stream that's why they have left out so much from single player. They put Single player in there so people can use it to get familiar with the game before jumping online and to use it as a sand box to test things for online. They don't really expect anyone to play single player for very long. So in their eyes they are not breaking promises.

I agree. It was clear since beginning. It seems I'm actually one of the few people that is really excited about this project, I liked the demo (the fact that 10% only was available), it will be an impressive game.

I like the price, 20$CAN for 3 months is fine, 30$ for a GEM once in a while is fine, and the direct updates and content available will be easy to download and install. Overtime, it will become an even better game, and the investment is worth it. I've been dreaming about a game like that since I'm a teenager, and 15 yrs later, it exists.

I like the fact that everything will be on the planet, the fact that we can't get cheats, and let's hope that custom content and new updates will be easy to keep track. It will put every planet player on the same level. Who knows in 1 year or 2 years where this game will be, but I hope a lot of people like me will invest in this and get this game even better.

I bought a computer with latest HD screen, latest sound card and graphics available (I hope so!!!) last July, and the demo played perfectly. The game will run smooth with highest graphic details, and I can't wait the hours of enjoyment I will have looking at my skylines and renovating neighborhoods.

I admit the game isn't perfect, I saw only 10% of the game, but I think Monte Cristo achieved something really cool with this concept.

SimCity4 is still there for the SC4 junkies, and CitiesXL is a new form of entertainment that I'm ready to pay for (until prices are reasonable).

I cannot wait, the game starts for me in a few hours, I'm all pumped up for it.

TBD,

I got the e-mail with instructions and the Activation Key at 0:45 (12:45am) today. I installed the game successfully, but since the website part is down, I cannot use the key to register. We have to be patient for the time being.

Site and servers are up 4.gif

Follow the "Register" link when installing the game to create your account and register your copy of the game (or go to www.citiesxl.com/signup).

If you already have an account created on the site, but did not register your copy yet, you can use www.cities.com/upgrade

I pre ordered my game off of Steam. I always buy my games off of steam and they have never let me down before. I already have it preloaded on my computer just waiting for it to be released. However, on the game page on steam, it still says 1 day 5hours, which puts the release tomorrow at 1pm instead of 1am. I hope is is just a mistake because I plan on staying up all night to play the game as soon as its released. Can anyone confirm the time of release?

I really hope i'm doing the right thing, remind me never to buy anything from Monte Cristo EVER again by the way... I think I wasted my cash, is it really worth it? Also I have a question about shipping:

1. How long does the USPS Free shipping take to reach Canada, particullary Ontario/Ottawa?

Thanks!

I ordered the game a month ago (as a pre-order)

MC said on its website that if we pre-order, they will make sure we get the game a day before the official release (the release date for North America is the 9th of October) so we can install the game, and they will send us the activation key by email on the release date.

Alas, I got no CD today, so let's hope for tomorrow... I got however my activation key.

Cheers
