Dat diagonal staircase!? May I have a linkie, please? Many thanks in advance!

It should be this:

but I think you'll also need something else:  https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=116

and should consider looking into the following

with those as starting points, some searching here on the STEX and some looking over on the LEX , you should also come across some part 2s and add-on sets

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

Same here, same here... *sigh* I recently took count of all the multiple-volume works that still have pending volumes to read, and Mr. Sanderson himself is responsible for quite a few  all on his own (more Mistborn novels, the next volumes of The Reckoners, and of course the next Stormlight Archives book). Dang, I just googled and found out that The Rithmatist is also supposed to have several volumes. How can that man be so productive and so good at the same time? :boggle:

Ok, that was off topic. I might as well alibi-comment that you have quite a strong contrast between all that W2W development and those modern skyscrapers lining the coast, but that could well be the outcome of land reclamation projects. In any case, everything looks so organised that Dalinar himself could actually be the mayor there. ;)

Thanks for your great comments :)

I work part time in a bookshop to help pay the bills as I finish my PhD. There's just too many books I want to read I can't possibly get through my to-read list. As a Sanderson fanboy it's sad to say I have only read the first of the Reckoners, and I haven't read any of the new Mistborns though I tell myself I'm waiting for them to come out in paperback. Are you German? I'm only asking because of the Kriechtier König under your username. If you are, do you read books in German? I've heard good things about the German translation of The Falconer, Die Feenjägerin, and I'm quite invested in the English version.

Back to the Dalinar City waterfront, I had the W2W development in a grid all the way down to the water's edge. I ended up tearing down a lot of the older tenements by the water and zoned higher density R and C. Between that, bulldozing what I didn't like and plopping a few buildings, that's how it turned out.

Work in a bookshop.. heh, that's what I call sitting right at the source! I can imagine it must be hard to see all these  books without having the time to actually read them. :D

And yes, I'm German, but since I'm pretty fluent in English, I prefer reading those books in their original language. I keep learning this way, and I think there are also some details that any translation, however good it may be, can just not capture. Of course that's not a big deal when your choice is between reading a decent translation or not reading the book at all because you don't understand it in its original language - or if it's really difficult to read and you have trouble grasping its content. However, once you've reached a certain level, reading the originals isn't that much more difficult than reading the translation IMO, so I'll usually go ahead and do that. I'm not sure about German book translations in general. I'd imagine that the overall level is quite decent, and since I imagine that you wouldn't become a literary translator without some passion for your job (it's certainly not the fame, the job security and the great payment!), I suppose you'll find some great work if you look closer. However, there is the occasional unpleasant surprise, too, one example being One Hundred Years of Solitude - I found the German translation to be rather bad, honestly.

A good friend of mine likes to give me books as birthday and Christmas presents, and since most Sci-Fi and fantasy novels these days tend to be multi-volume works, I end up having a lot of first volumes this way and often have to wait for the sequel to come out in the same edition as the previous book. :whatevs:

Thanks for making me aware of The Falconer! So far, I have never heard of the book or its author, so it might be a good occasion to try something new. I'll put it on my list!

...aaand for the usual alibi comment, I could mention that the way how this coastline development came into being doesn't sound unrealistic at all. Do I spot a custom lot of Maxis' California Plaza there, or is that one available for download somewhere already?

Some great waterside creations. I like the way you have made the lots overhanging antsel, it allows you to break the uniformity of the coastline. __B Your city seems to have it all when it comes to waterside areas, would like to see it as you fill it in more. And philforhockey51, a charming little coastal area.

^ I can only echo these comments. __B, I think you have reached a point where I'd recognise your style in a picture even if it didn't come with the name attached to it. I chuckled a bit when I saw my personal favourite among Diego_del_Llano's recent uploads sit smack-dab in the middle of your picture, as one of the few colourful spots. You do prefer buildings with a sober, cool and matter-of-fact design, don't you?

Thank you! I never really give any particular amount of thought to my way of building, but I like simple architecture that doesn't really make any fuzz. My main goal is always realism. I hope this instant recognizability isn't a bad thing. At least I'll take it as a compliment. :)

This is the seaside of Honesmouth, a city of 1,000,000 south of the sprawling capital of Habrance. Since the early 1990s, it has evolved from a rusting coastal town to a booming financial centre. Unfortunately the blank spot of land in the middle is glitched and cannot be built on.

@armpit43  I think there is some way to make that area functional again. Was there ever anything on it?

Should stay low though like a park or plaza.

Hi @philforhockey51, I believe it was this model of the London Eye: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=648

Here is the beach area for my new city of West Danbourne, which is part of the Greater Danbourne area.

Any tips on how to make a nice marina????

For me, these marinas help to get a more realistic look and you can create multiple styles with them.

Thanks so much 9gruntsand1hammer!

Nice picture, with good MMP work and nice arrangement of buildings and lots. May I ask you for the link to that diagonal building that looks like a monastery or church?

Sorry I don't remember and I spent some time looking but didn't find it. I checked all of Toutsim and it is not there and I checked SC4D but didn't seem to find it. My feeling is it might be here on this site but I haven't seen it yet.
