I agree with SC4BOY, all the way. If you're not worried about R$$$, if it helps, you don't need the top-level education to receive R$ so you can, in a matter of fact, demolish a few sites and save some income. But I know that's a cheap way

Well, it would be nice if you provided more information such as: type of building land value surrounding area demand because all those affect a building success. Usually the middle and high wealth buildings experience abandoning. If you place factories near them, take away school and hospitals, if too much crime occurs nearby, or demand has taken a plummet due to taxes, overdevelopment, etc. ALL THOSE can contribute to abandonment. So just check for 1) clean area, 2) satisfied civics 3) and demand.

1) You can build a waste to energy plant...depending on how big your landfills are you may need more than one, but they will take away the garbage and the zone will be empty and you can dezone it. Be patient though, I must warn you, it'll take time for those last squares to fully disappear! 2) As for the airport...the airport itself will only get the business and travelers from the city that it's in. However, when it boosts desirability for those offices and business and the like, it in turn can increase demands for the neighboring cities. Good luck!

What is the advantage of a growable STEX compared to a ploppable?
scifanata replied to scifanata's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Well, hey, thanks for the comments, I'll keep all that in mind...I guess to you, wiecher, you should only download the more common growables, such as restaurants, commercial strips, and normal housing, not the rare foreign-specialty buildings. -
Yeah, this would be Lillard Audio. First, I suggest if you haven't reached these buildings in the game, try playing the game until you get experienced enough to achieve these skyscrapers, then you'll see the point of view our fellow members are talking about. Secondly, try making your own unique lots, not borrowed lots, as stated earlier.

Not to hate on it, but it IS a premade Maxis building. Sure, it might be fun to be able to call something yours, rename it, mod it, and make it ploppable, but we experienced Simcity 4 players have already seen the entire (or almost the entire) menu of Maxis buildings, and it doesn't help just to make a rehash. We like original work.

Okay, I gotta agree with a less-grid like city and having a WAY too big skyline: that's kind of everyone's direction, once they get high-rises they want the maximum possible. Don't. Go for the best skyscrapers but only keep the few best *Aspire said demolish the duplicates. Also, I'm not seeing too many civic buildings, i see a high school and Colt Tower, but that's it: no plazas/parks, landmarks, etc. It's okay to have a flat city, but most cities do have water nearby. Try to have districts and mixed zone regions: district ex: shopping district, university district, midtowns. Add in scattered low-density houses, commercial and some medium density industry and promote the other wealths (not just rich) to give the city a more raw feel. Too many dead-ends. Hope I didn't come down too hard. Good luck!

What is the advantage of a growable STEX compared to a ploppable?
scifanata posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
I'm just wondering, why don't make all STEX ploppable so you can have them exactly where and when you want it. The only advantage that I'm aware of now is that you can watch growables under construction, but can anyone tell me the rest? -
Where do I see how many wealthy residents I have?

Keep in mind the graphs Sense is talking about are LINE graphs, not BAR graphs. -
Describe your home and work in SC4 terms
scifanata replied to jmusacha's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Yeah, I thought like you constantly before I even knew about STEX and stuff like that....such as....what would that Wallick Building on Tussing Road (RL) be like on SimCity 4, or what wealth would THAT house fall in? Lol, like you, I'd probably fall into a low-density R$$ 2X3 lot. I would say my house is a combination of middle and upper class, but when you take the outside frame and the objects that would be in the lot, it falls under middle class. Comparable to a house, i'd say the front looks like "Villa"--I know, blunt name, but more power to you if you could find it--minus the balcony. The back looks like Stone Chateau. Hey, nice original question. -
I'm really proud to release you Palamo City, my only major city that was along an "ocean" and it turned out very successfully. The second clip is from Grove Heights, the bordering riverside suburbs. Show us your waterside.

Try toning up HT's taxes, that will make them less eager to grow, that is if you're REAL high tech industry planning is fufilled.
