@Glenni- Just asking, are you just contributing that building(when you BAT it) to NYBT or do you want to be completely part of the team and BAT with us(and still BAT what you want to BAT that isn't New York stuff)?

.quote>

Well, the basic idea was just to contribute to your recreation with this one building, but i am out of ideas, and sort  of getting tired of just making stuff based on buildings over here. Plus i do have some interest on buildings in New York, so sure if you want me to to join the team , i'm all open for it3.gif

I can contribute with certain vehicles too if needed3.gif

I have some NYC sightseeing buses in the pipelines right now as well.

Speaking of said building thst i was gonna make though... i am ready to work on it, but there is just one problem.. I can't find any roof top  shots of it, i tried bing and google an they both give me shot from when it was under construction, so  is it ok that i just use my own imagination on the roof?

Sorry for the image quality, here's the roof of the building you want to BAT Glenni. You can use your imagination with the roof if you want to, I do that with most roofs. Welcome to NYBT.9.gif

Well, I have some updates. Just on the Citicorp Center.

    2ymum1t.jpg

You can see one part of the tower in the far background(in the left), I'm making all the needed parts in Sketchup, then just copy that part of the tower as much as I need. Now, for the base. I did some work on it, as you can see.

    307pwr4.jpg

Here's another side of the base building, nothing speacial.

Here's the plaza so far. It's unfinished though. How's it look? I think the black brick texture I'm using is to repetetive, so I might change it.

    28tgmc6.jpg

And here's the back of the roof. Not much has happened here yet.

    esk9lf.jpg

    What do you all think?

What, do you not like my building? 41.gif

Simcity4fan12: What architect thought of that building? It's a bit weird, but it's iconic, unique and it's coming along nicely. Personally, I think it's pretty cool. It looks complicated, so best of luck to you.

Well Parisian, You got a good basic shape down, but it needs some improvement. Some of the details look textured on when they should be modeled out.

Look what I've found lately on the net, it may help you:

    Here's the first shot guys.

    WiliamBeaverSt-2.jpg

I have of course done some changes from the original building, such as spacing out certain details more, in order to make the building fit on a nice snugly fit 3x3 lot.

And while i'm onto this i do have some building's i'd want to do afterwards:

Delmonico's Restaurant (it's right across the street of this building)

    delmonicos.jpg

American Radiator Building: ( I just love this thing!!!!!)

    American-Radiator425W.jpg

and last of the first four:

    The Flatiron:

    Flatiron_8775.jpg

Anyone got any objections to this? It's ok if any one else want to make these instead, i can find something else to do.

Glenni -  Once I wanted to make ARB and flatiron, but for now I focus on buildings from CP district 4.gif (The Plaza and GM). I don't object to you making these bats, but remeber that; these buildings are very ornamental and without decorations they will lose their beauty and character 4.gif

Parisian - The model looks ok, but it still needs some work to make it look realistic 4.gif

simcity4fan12 - on this picture: 28tgmc6.jpg , ground floor overlaps one of the pillars. Is it correct? I'm asking because I don't know ^^"

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Glenni, AFAIK Hanson is preparing to model Flatiron, you should contact him first. Beside this, I like your choice, can't wait to see it.

Just here for replies, updates from me will come later.

    @maikeli.1- I appreciate that! I've been working hard. 9.gif

@gio10469- Thanks, I announced that I'll have to start over on 7WTC, but I did. So far, not much has been happening. I'm trying to finish the other BATs, particularlly the HSBC Bank Building in Lower Manhattan and the Citicorp Center.

@Gwail- That's a good roof shot! Thank you so much. My roof of WTC7 wasn't that accurate, in terms of small detail and some of the air units.

@Glenni- Looking good so far. The changes are good, I change some details of some BATs I do. Good choices of what to BAT next! The Flatiron Building, I believe is being BATed by Hanson still. He told me in a email a while back, but that was before the virus he had attacked his computer. He lost the Citicorp Center he was making. I think there was 2 pics of it on his website. I'm not sure if the Flatiron BAT suffered the same fate, I'll ask him later. By the way, is that a recent pic of the Flatiron? I always thought there was a Sprint store on its ground floor, not a Citi Bank.

@Seraf- I saw that in a RL pic of the building. So it seems correct. I think in the site plan the pillars go all the way down into the basement, and, for some reason, some pillars overlap the small plaza building's floors.

I'm going to try to get a quick update later today, maybe in a few minutes. I'm taking a small vacation, about a day or two today with the family. I'll try to get one of the Citicorp Center. Anyone want to see what I'm doing on the HSBC Bank? Not much has happened yet, still in the basics. I'd rather show it when I get more details done.

@Parisan: You seem to have the shape down, but your technique and approach need's to be reworked. You are making the basic shape and then using textures to provide the details. That is useful for fully 3d games because it lowers poly count and keeps the game running fast. However, in simcity, the models are all just 2d isometric images painted onto a box, so i don't even know if there is a poly count, and if there is, it is 6 for every single building. So your going to want to model out all the details of your model, so that your model looks real in a simcity4 render. right now, it looks very fake and its obvious that you used pictures to make the facade details.

So make sure that you fully model out any kinds of facade details like windows, mullions, and that you model the roof instead of just using a satillite image.

    @everyone else:

I'll try to post something soon but i really have no time for batting these days...

Well I'm back with an update on the Downtown Club.

    2psnhnl.jpg

Just the basics with the uncompleted entrance so far. The textures might be changed in BAT.

Here's some pics of my and Kryptowhite's One Times Square. These are lot editor pics, not really having time to put it in the game yet.

    eimpow.jpg

    vhxqf7.jpg

    vsnhpt.jpg

    28ldo0.jpg

This is basically a second choice for One Times Square, you Can have Hanson's with different builboards, or this one with different buillboards.

I mentioned before about a New York prop pack for NYBT. I'm going to make some street props, some sculptures that go to some of the BATs I'm going to make, and more. I'm thinking about taking Hanson's NY Traffic Lights and rendering them as props for the pack as well, with your permission of course Hanson! I was also thinking, that one NYBT member can make a mod that replaces in-game traffic lights with Hanson's. Glenni, since you made vehicle mods, do you think you can make a mod that replaces the in-game traffic lights? I have no worthly clue about modding at all. Tried it, messed up alot.17.gif

More updates from me to come!

Well, i can make the models, the problem is the modding though, i can't actually do the modding, the buses i made for instance, were my own models, but someone else modded them for me3.gif

@Glenni- Oh that's ok, you made good busses, by the way. Do you know anyone who can mod though?

Well, I made a quick BAT to make for the prop pack for New York I want to release that will be dependencies for future uploads of NYBT. I'm going to make more street props, but here's one for a particular BAT that will be made in the future.

    2la6fs4.jpg

This is the South Street Seaport Museum Lighthouse. It's a memorial to the Titanic, since I beleive it used to function as a Lighthouse and helped guide the Titanic when it passed Manhattan. How does it look? I'll show the Sculpture to the HSBC Bank Building next. Then probably some street stuff next.

Hmmm...I mis-read something about it. It was just built as a memorial, it was part of some church thing actually. Just dedicated to those who died. It was just donated to the South Street Seaport Museum when the church instutute thing relocated. My bad...

@Glenni - The FlatIron will be magnificient!! Historians define that tower as the first real skyscraper in the World - Others like to think of the Empire State building the center of it all, but personally I think it's the flat iron. You can just tell by the architecture of the building itself.

@Gwail - I know that was for Simcity4fan12, but I didnt really know how to WTC tower roof looked like. Thanks 4.gif

Yes, I'm making the Flatiron Building. It's one of my long term projects. The modeling of the building is complete and it just needs texturing at this point. Won't be ready for awhile.

Glenni, you can go ahead and make the Flatiron also if you want. Two versions are better than one19.gif Can't wait to see the American Radiator Building (it's a hotel now) One of my favorite Art Deco buildings.

I'll show updates later. I'm in the process of moving so I don't have much time to BAT, though I'm wondering if I should try to finish One Liberty Plaza now before the computer get packed up or after I move into my new place (Oct 15) We'll see what time allows for.

Seraf, great modeling on the stairs, will the traverse overpass be transit enabled?

Simcityfan, you can use the stoplights. The Dowtown Club is coming along nicely. And the Titanic Memorial looks great I was going to BAT that as a quick little project but it's good to see you beat me. Now that that free's up my list a bit. Great work!

Kellydale, wow indeed! Do you live in Moscow?
