Floor height is generally 4m, and door height is generally 3m. What you have looks a little short, so try matching those numbers with your model(either one or the other will do) and see how it looks. The rowhouse/shops I made recently had the same horizontal width (about 3 per 16m tile) so that looks fine, although you may want to compare their widths on google earth with the tape measuring tool just to be sure.

They looks pretty good, but you should definitely make more color variations of these, perhaps enough for 4 1x1 lots.

I would make them a tad bit taller, only because the doors and windows look a bit off.

I'm still working on them, and the color variations. So far I changed them up alot. Now they are scaled some more, but now there's only 2 of them that fit a 1x2 lot and there will be many color variations. I may put it on hold for a few days(or weeks...give or take the time) to finish 130 Liberty StreetV2 and World Trade Center 7.

    Those can be done.

I have no updates yet sorry. Maybe other NYBT members will stop by. I'm really busy with RL like school projects so It might be a little while but not to long for me to post an update. Like maybe in a few days or shorter. I might try to squeeze a few in through my time so we'll see. Also, I'm trying to finish the left side of WTC7, so I can show and update with the back. I'm going to start on the nitelighting on 130 Liberty StreetV2 when I have some time. I'm leaving the facade depth the same, but might add a few details to the building too. I'm probably keeping the mullions the same. They look good IMO.

    Stay tuned for updates.

Alright, I'm back from Vermont! Finally.

I'm all caught up with what's been going on here.

Simcity4fan12: Great brownstones! Just be careful that you don't start too many projects at once. My only suggestion is scaling it up around 140-150%, but otherwise, it's simple and nice.

So here's my progress (from today; I couldn't get Internet, cell phone or GPS reception in Vermont):

    77waterst6.jpg

As you probably noticed, there are three labels.

1 is the former window style,

2 is the new window style with a simple concrete texture,

3 is the new style with a shadow sort of texture.

I don't know which one looks better to the general public (as I am only one person), so I'm going to ask:

Do you like 2 or 3 better?

    Your response is appreciated.

A note to Kryptowhite: I spent 20 minutes just on the math about the windows' proportions. Trust me, it's close enough to the real thing. Oh, and you were right about the facade windows. I'm so good at replacing them it only took 70 minutes or so. I don't know if that's something to be proud of.

hahaha sometimes I feel smug when i am able to BAT something quickly. Then i realize that im BATting and the smugness goes away. I prefer 2, I think it looks most like the real tower. You've definetely got the proportions right on both 2 and 3, but personally I prefer 2 because I don't really understand the purpose of those shadows on 3. having said that, the shadows on 3 do look very good on this tower, because they add a bit of pizazz as opposed to two which is just standard grey, so i think I will go with option 3 actually! Good work, it looks better and better each update!

Kryptowhite is right, It's looking better and better with every update! I second Kryptowhite's choice with option 3, that would be perfect. Then you should be able to release it as is! But, how's the nitelighting gonna look? I'm quite interested in seeing it.

I'm trying not to start on many projects at once. I'm not really working on alot. But I've been getting requests left and right "do this building or this one" or like "it would be great to see"... Stuff like that. It's not really annoying, but Ive gotta say I have already started some projects that I can't just put aside.

simcity4fan12, are we still going to work on 40 wall street?

Or should we just quit? I mean, if I upload the model on the stex, maybe someone else can BAT it further and finish it.

I don't care about the roof and I really want to start texturing some parts of the model..

Jumpthefence, option #3 is the only way to go for this building, mostly because it makes the window textures appear as though they have some sort of depth, so to speak. I would like to see trunite nightliights for this building, something that would make this building stand apart from most international-styled buildings. Definitely alot better than when it first appeared, I just can't wait for what base textures you have planned for this building. 1.gif

Probably the next building you should do, or for that matter the whole NY BAT, is the Trump Tower. Simply because it is one of the most distinctive office towers in NYC, and perhaps in America. Here's an ideal shot of what you're dealing with:

    kveus2173b.jpg

I'll try to find roof pics for you, but this is how most of the pics look like of this building.

I managed to find a pic, but it's rather awkward and difficult to distinguish all of the building features from this angle, but this was all I could dug up:

    TrumpTower-002a.jpg

I hope it helps a bit. I'm not too sure about the Angle myself, though.

Here are some more. They are overall better, but this is a model and not the real thing, though. :

    mytrumpfe7.jpg

i hope this helps too. 4.gif

No updates from me, sorry. Just here for replies.

@sten1700- I will finish it. It just takes some time. It's not like other buildings I have BATed before. I got a few projects I want to finish first too. Mainly Original WTC7 and 130 Liberty StreetV2. I've been busy with RL so it's just taking some time.

@mben92- Wow, I always thought that was a hotel. Mainly becuase it said "Trump" in the name... Any way, I see that one being made some time in the future. Maybe one of NYBT members will start on it shortly. Who knows... Someone could be BATing it right now. Some roof pics of it would be nice. Mainly the lower part, I don't think I've seen much pics from there, I know there's plants there, I just don't know 100% how it looks. I'm just wondering. I'm not BATing it yet. I didn't think I would, mainly becuase I'm doing the Skyscrapers from Lower Manhattan.

EDIT: Oh, more pics of the Trump Tower. That was fast. Thanks, It's still hard to see the detail and such though. But I think I, at least, have a better idea of how it looks.

I know, the only real-world image of the roof was a bit wonky, to say the least. Anyway I don't think I could Muster anything else up, but I'll try to find pics for you guys to use in the near future. I'll find more Lower Manhattan high rises for you. In fact, I think I can Name a few off the top of my head: National Westminster Bank Building, 55 Water Street, Wall Street Plaza, Goldman-Sachs Building(not to be confused with Goldman-Sachs tower in Jersey city or the New world HQ in Manhattan), Continental Center And 1 Financial Square. I'll find some pics of other high-rises as well if needed.

Well, I found some pics of more Lower Manhattan buildings, tell me what you think:

    One Seaport Plaza:

    483764.jpg

    687001.jpg

    577502.jpg

Those are just a few, I can't really find decent roof pics, so just bear with me guys.

    Here's Goldman Sachs Building:

    482334.jpg

    482335.jpg

Here's a better view of the base (somewhat):

    275506.jpg

(try google earth for the roof-view images, i think it would help somewhat with the roof layout. )

    Here's One Financial Square:

    485984.jpg

    225593.jpg

    482632.jpg

    Here's Continental Center:

    504220.jpg

    686980.jpg

    278218.jpg

    Here's Home Insurance Plaza:

    190880.jpg

    483550.jpg

I couldn't find too many good pics, they seem to be taken at a similar angle, so BATing this thing might be a challenge(unless you find some more pics yourself2.gif)

And Last but not least, One New York Plaza:

    653265.jpg

    230373.jpg

    703995.jpg

    155704.jpg

    485986.jpg

I'll try to get more pics for you guys for use of reference. I'm not trying to spam or anything, just posting references to try and assist BATters with their Lower Manhattan related projects. Hope these help guys19.gif.

Hey - Use SkyscraperPage.com and go to the forums there and browse around. There's thousands of photos that people post about a certain topic.

Also I use a 5.5 to 6 M height in residential buildings and a 7M in commercial office towers. Why? The angle of simcity 4 ingame looks a bit orthographic and making height look smaller. Exagerrating the heights of the buildings will make it look more suitable and accurate in game (sometimes it may seem a little high in Gmax, but really it's the game that counts). 4.gif

I'm going to BAT One Seaport Plaza and the Home Insurance building when I'm done with my current projects. I really liked how the Home Insurance building looked.

No updates in BATs with me, still busy, but expect maybe an update tonight or tomorrow.

Also, you can post pics of real buildings to help us get the ones we're making accurate, but, I would go to the BAT Request Thread or PM one of us for a request.

Yes I have, I actually started on the old World Trade Center as well. You're BATing it? Do you plan on finishing it and re-leasing it? I just wanted to make something based on it, not too much accuracy.

@ simcity4fan12 - Lol how exciting. I will be doing this project by myself. I don't want to release too much details and I will be only needing one persons help with the old wtc.

Check Nyc006's Bat thread. Were working on the New World Trade Center Complex. : https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=37&threadid=105526&startpage=7

This is why I've been sticking around this thread - So for interest I could ask you for assistance or Vice Versa. But I already asked you to consider 3DS Max. But as I said earlier it's alright and I'm not trying to convince you right now. 4.gif

@Simcity player - The one completed by BSC is very inaccurate and is low quality. This BAT is in my personal opinion... "outdated". Compared to todays BATs all crisp and perfect, the completed model by BSC is somewhat no good to me. (no offense intentionally given).

So here goes my surprise - a tribute to all the braves of 9/11:

    090910fdnyengine10.jpg

    090901fdnyladder10.jpg

    Available at STEX.

It's intentionally heavy detailed, as these are emergency trucks, not cruising at streets during normal gameplay.

It's about time someone brought those beautiful towers up to 2009 standards.

Gwail- I just saw it on the STEX, it's a great upload! I wish I finished WTC7 yesterday so I could release it today as a tribute. Unfortunately, RL is making me a busy bee... So it might be finished some time next week, I'm not too sure.

I might have an update on it today, but I can't make any promises.

Kellydale2003- It's not that I don't consider switching, it's just that I'm already good at sketchup, and I still have my sketchup pro free trial on my other computer(and since I only use it when I put the finished model on that computer to export in 3ds, I don't really use up the trial at all) and it's lasting quite a while. I will most likely switch when the trial runs out and I have no one with Sketchup Pro 7 that could export my models for me. So I really consider switching, just when "the time comes" I guess. I wish I could help you with your old WTC project, lol it is funny how we both started on it and just now figured out we are BATing it.21.gif Looks like you're doing a great job. I haven't gotten to far on mine, I started on it a week or 2 ago, but I've been trying to finish other BATs first.

Does anyone think I should re-lease mine when I finish? I'm not trying to make it accurate however. It's, I guess, like a Twin Towers Two design that keeps the same facade just, might not be accurate in size or something, I can't really remember what I'm doing to it to make it different.3.gif I think mine might be taller...
