fox, i don't understand what exactly you mean? i have an idea, but i'm not sure if that is what you meant, and if it is the case i do not have the abilities, sorry.

born78, i was thinking about making those, but i am trying to keep the poly count low. the stadium itself is a little over 100,000, but the surrounding area with the flora takes the poly count up to almost 500,000. i'm still waiting for a draft render. not only that but it is quite large and i don't even think i will be able to export with the night lighting either. i probably will need to export portions seperately.

continuing with your suggestion, several of the athletic sports are played off the field on the empty spaces. plus, the final game of football is played in the main stadium. i'll see what i can do though.

edit: here's that low quality render

    Attachedhttp://3.forumer.com/uploads/simtropolis/post-2-1093010361.jpg>

i found out i don't need the grassy area on the bottom left for this to look right, so i can just delete it to save time unless you think it looks beter with it.

well, i have bad news (i can probably find a way around it though).
first off the lot size will be 30 by 30 6.gif
second i tried exporting on draft and recieved error 6. i have also seperated the stadium away from the base and the flora, but same error. there are probably some other seperations i can do though so don't worry (hopefully). btw, my computer is good enough to export.

in the meantime here is what the final building will look like (untextured, and i may add some other objects).
also there isn't any flora yet (i'll have to add them in the lot editor).

you can also see that the roof is more transparent (good or bad?).

snce i liked making this stadium so much, i want to make another one from my favorite club: Real Madrid.
btw, much of my family is from Madrid, that is why i like them.
anyways, here's a short video of the new (renovated) stadium which i want to make:
this won't conflict with my other projects because most of them are ready for exporting, i'm just waiting for a day where i won't have spare time to work on the bat (probably next week when i start school).

I like this a lot and think it's turning out well. I also like the slightly translucent roofing effect. That should look awesome in game play.19.gif

Real Madrid looks cool...I've always liked these innovative designs in sporting arenas.

bernabeu is in the madrid w2w thread.
i'm sorry to say that the transparency may not be of any importance now. i have tried many different ways to seperate the stadium in pieces while still having it look right. since none of them worked, i am thinking of removing calatrava's roof off of the old oaka stadium. this means that the transparency is useless. if that does not work, i'll have to cut the stadium in half, and the transparency effect would be just as bad.
so, in conclusion, i think the only way for this to export properly (without error 6), is to lose the transparency of the roof. i am quite dissapointed in this, but it seems to be the only way at this moment.
btw, the night lights that i had planned are probably not a possibilty at this moment.

on a brighter note, i have to start school next week, yeepee 30.gif.

May i suggest that you render all the paths and the trees around the stadium in the bat rather than using the lot editor. With the le you wont be able to get the trees very close to the stadium also things always look better rendered with the bat. Oh and the stadium is just amazing. That makes 3 great stadium projects being worked on right now. Im rendering mine right now its at about 60% done. Oh and just alittle question for you how many seats did you place in the stadium?

JEC & others...there's a great little spread on Calatrava in the TIME 'Great Buildings of the World' magazine that's out right now. It also contains several other great buildings that people have BATted or are working on. You can't miss seeing the magazine, the Burj al-Arab Tower Hotel is mainly featured on the front cover.

Just happened to see this topic and i was SO amazed 4.gif by what you JEC have done!!!Having been to the Athens olympic stadium (almost every day), i'm now sure that the construction company which built this masterpiece must have used your textures! 29.gif Maybe that's why they were off schedule with this roof ...waiting for you to finish them! The only thing that differs are the seats that are actually all white. Whether this one hits the STEX or not,you certainly deserve a huge BRAVO! I think it's the best and most difficult project on the STEX to date! If you had come to Athens, you would have been SO proud of your work... probably more than Calatrava himself!2.gif

Just a note for any Calatrava fans in the northwestern United States...there's an exhibit on his work at the Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington in Seattle. It runs through Nov 2.

okay, thanks for all the feedback, it really helped me trying to get back into this building. it loooks like i can continue it because i found an exporting solution. the only problem is that the roof will not be transparent because it will be exported separetely.
i managed to export the original OAKA stadium and i will just need to slide the roofs in the lot editor. i'm going to redo all my seating because they do not look good close up so it will take more time.

right, the airport, i had to write the other post quickly i had a class in 5 minutes.
it depends. i've been trying to find an airport beautifull enough to bat, but i haven't found enough pictures or information about any. as of now all i can see is we'll see.

i have to export the surroundings seperately and not using ht elot editor because they are a bit elevated from the ground. those are quickly exported though because they are small.

I'm really looking forward to the Stadium. The Bombers or the Pirates (fictional soccer teams) need one and this will work very well. Take your time JEC. Can't wait for it to be on the STEX.
