I recently started playing my SimCity 4 game again and it is having problems. The Wind Power poles are all glitchy and the vehicles are glitchy as they drive down the road. Also occasionally the game will close out of itself while i am playing, meaning i lose my game.  Does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this problem? Is it possible to fix this problem? Please help me out if you have any ideas.  I really dont wanna lose my game 8.gif

Has anything changed since you played before... New computer, for instance? If so, you might want to list the specifications...

Did you just re-install the game? If so, did you get the game patches?

Just a couple things to check first. Let us know...

Anti-virus running in the background was my problem. Try shutting it off while you're playing.

Too many animations might also be taxing your graphics card. Try setting your graphics options for automata down to medium or even low and see if that helps. You can always set them back at high when you're just kicking back watching the game play itself.

LOL...can you think of any other games that play themselves?  "All this mayoring has tired me out, think I'll just watch for a bit...carry on, you crazy Sims..."

Speaking of things running in the background, before I got more RAM, I seemed to get less crashes when I disabled some things like my taskbar Weather Icon Program, and other excess processes that are running and can been seen in the Task Manager.  There's a list around here somewhere of what you can safely disable, but if in doubt, leave it,  It might be a necessary application.  31.gif

Enjoy the game.

Being more accurate might help "glitchy" could be anything.

As for the crashes (CTD) save often!

I had the same problem mate!

You have to go to properties and select "run this program as administrator" and run it under windows XP (service pack 2) or something like that 4.gif

Don't know if it works but after that i got rid of the problem

I switched the game from hardware rendering to software rendering and now it seems fine. i am not really sure why that makes a difference but it does. Thanks for the advice everyone. if i have any other problems ill ask you guys! thanks so much!

A little tip, if you put the texture option down a bit it can greatly improve the speed of the game

If switching the game to software rendering worked, then the problem's with your graphics card. It may not be powerful enough, it may not have enough memory, it may not have the latest drivers... But it's certainly the graphics card if that solution works.

I think its just plain too new, at least in my case.  Software rendering and the single-core affinity check fixed all my crashing problems.

As it turns out the switch from hardware to software was just a temporary fix. The problem has come back. more suggestions would be great.
