Great detailing!   Where did you get the tables and plants?
What kind of textures are you going to use?

For the texturing the gmax preview on the last page is very close to what i want. I just need to some how get even more shine. As for the tables and plants i have been making all of my own props like this for autocad. I cant use ones from the net becuase they are simply to detailed and this way i can have the items for my architectual class at school. Also the hvacs on the roof and the custom revolving door were all done by me. I also have abotu 5 or 6 other little items like a flight of stairs and can be arrayed up and fit togeter flawlessly as an outside fire escape route or something similar. Anyhow It wont be long now before i begin work on the base. I dont know how big i should make. Sense i plan for it to be a very tall structure it seems like a larger base woudl be appropriate but due to the amount it would increase render time im not sure what i want to do with the base yet. Suggestions for the base are welcome.

And in the mean time here is a sort of sample as to what the textures should look like.

Well i need to make a few things for the roof then i will be moving down to the base. After that i will tackle the skybridge at the 20th floor. Once thats done i will reimport to the bat and do the texturing. Depending on how long the base takes i could be done wiht the building as early as tuesday.

Looking good so far.  The only thing that bugs me is the support structure for the antenna mast.  I don't know if you've had any structural classes yet, but parallelagrams (sp?) are one of the worst shapes to use for bracing.  You should try to make it so that it forms all triangles.  There also needs to be some sort of tie in with the roof whether its a steel plate or a surface beam.  You could also cut down on the number of supports.  It looks like you have 6 arrayed around the antenna where you could probably get away with 3 or 4.  I've edited your image to show you what I would do in order to keep those supports from buckling.

I don't know if it's the look your going for or not but you should up the polyline arc segments to get some smoother circles...although I like the segmented look.

About the large supports you speak of they are acctually not even supports. I plant to do more work up there and make them more visible as just a cap to the building. I will make it fairly bright at night. And ofcourse they will give a minor amount of support for the antena but i have the structural beam running up the middle for that. And like i said the next area im moving towards is the roof.

Also the polyline thing about the roundeness of the floors. They are acctualy 24 sided polygons. I did this becuase i too liked the sectioned look. But im finding that the shine i want woudl be easier to obtain with true circles. Whatever the case it will be an easy fix to go between the polygons and circles.

Oh and yes the skybridge will be a bit hard especially sense it will be on a 45 degree angle. But hopefully i can pull it off pretty well.

Well here comes guys the buidling is at about 75% done now. And if rendering goes well expect it easilly by 4PM central time monday. I need to add the base, import to gmax, and texture it, then make a few texture changes to the towers, then some night changes and it shoudl be ready to export.

REALLY GREAT DETAILING, but the style is just too 60's for me.

I have to agree with Dolfan, the night lighting needs some work and I'm not a big fan of the things coming out of each layer. The problem is I love the skybridge!

Nothing is final yet but im not quite feeling the 60s vibe nore the thigns coming out of each other thing. And the night lighing is to bright. Personally though i think its looking pretty darn good but thats just me. Anyhow keep the suggestions coming.

The circles are what I was talking about. Though the more I look at it the more I like it. It's 3 am here, so I need to go to bed. I'll sleep on it.

Nothing to special as of yet but i have been mostly playing around with getting a good suitable underwater base.

I love the idea Joerg! Please find some time to work on a harbour-set, since the way we have to build harbours now is still not that realistic. Pegasus did allready a great job with his lots, but for the finishing touch we need something like this. I am allready using some airport-lots of yours (the containers) but it would be cool to have more! <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif>

i think i'm getting more of a star wars type vibe than 60's.....but i guess the two sort of coincide a bit. and i think you mean 70s not 60s anyway, because 70s was all that strange curvy architecture.

and don't you know that the things coming out of each layer are all the rage in europe? errrr....well something like them, and only on the top. but still2.gif

anyway, AWESOME building joerg. i wish you would make it a little smaller, but i guess it can be the centerpiece of my city the way it is.

Looks great Joerg; I don't like the night lighting though. I think it would look better if you didn't light up a whole floor at a time.

Yes Minotaur the building is very european based. Its sort of a combo of 7 south dearborn and a couple buildings in frankfurt germany. And alittle of my own flair. Also being from the 60s or 70s or whatever isnt a bad thing i mean come on buildings come from every erra and 10 years from now who knows it might be the style again.

Well not lighting up a whole floor at a time isnt going to be easy thats for sure. I will need to completely re design the way the floors work if i do that
i think though that once i decrease intensity it will look ok plus in real life alot of times offices own entire floors and if one person is there he either has to have his own desk lamp or turn on the entire ceiling grid. Therefor the entire floor if its a cubicle based system that is.

Usually, if a building is too sohisticated, i don't do night windows- I just use alot of cool lighting effects with spotlights.  But then again, those are usually very modern buildings I do, and it depends on what kinds of effects you do.

I think this building is to big to not have night windows though. Your industrial building looks very good with no night windows Dt I may end up just placing about 300 omins within the buidling to act as small work lights for the offices. Then give the windows some transparency. I think that the goal should be to end up with lighting much like seafirst tower wich is im my opinion the best lit building in the game.

I love the towers. unlike most here. I've always wanted to see the 'hat' around the edges at each section like you have, and the black is sooo 70's. but that's good. ultra-modernistic. and i was gonna say it looked like 7 south dearborn. with the skylobbys and what not. all i can suggest is that in your nightlighting, have the lights 'break' on each floor. as it is, it's just a ring of light on the certain floors. break that up into individual squares of light. 9.gif

Well i finnally got the shine ive been wanting so now its time to move on to the base.
Anyhow here is a pic. And as for night i lowered intensity down to 0 and its still alittle bright and breaking up the textures isnt goign to be easy for nigth but i will see what i can do. Oh and i am getting a problem when i try to change the color of the night windows from like beige or something i have not other colors. I used to be able to pic whatever i wanted but now i cant.

As you can see its not supposed to be the chicago 60s - 80s style boring dull black.
