Ummm, back to the building. The more I look at it the nicer it is. It may look better enclosed... I don't know, just a thought. Otherwise it looks fine.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif>

Joerg, perhaps you could exaterate(sp?) the angle of the roof to force it to show up more prominently? That would be better than not having this awesome model in our game, I think.

Well my big issue isnt the expansive roof becuase real stadiums look the same way. I think i am going to do some veritcle stretching and then chnage the 4 main stair wells. The roof ofcourse is far from done i will be making some custom HVAC stuff for it tommorow as well as communications and perhaps some team banners to hang from the side. Once this is all done some stairs in the buildings interior will look really nice. Also i need a very nice dark brownish red brick texture and i can find one im happy with yet. Also i think i will put a clock on either end. Ive seen stadiums with clocks. Also some green metal roofs here and there should spice things up.

yeah, i really dont know what the problem is...  i haven't talked to beesbees since last year...

it was kinda confusing getting a PM from someone saying stop harrasing my friend, especially when you don't talk to them...  i don't know, maybe someone is using my name or something...

    i'm really confused right now...

Ok quite a few little changes were made and i think it looks alittle better here is the pic.
    /idealbb/files/Day7.jpg
    /idealbb/files/Night8.jpg
Past this i added some satelite recievers but thats it i think. It looks abotu like its ready to render. So if i get 5 yeses for reder it will begin to night at around 9 and hopefully be done in the morning with a lot taking a few hours tommorow and then your guys will get it. Anyhow speak now or forever hold your peace the 1.6 million polys and 12x12 base of this bad boy is only going to render once thats for sure.

Hmm whne i get a comment like what exactly is it supposed to be im not sure what to think. Does it really look like nothing? Anyhow it is supposed an indoor/outdoor modern multipurpose arena used. Its just a tad to small for foot ball or soccer but for most other things it work just fine. Its not based on any building in real life which is how most of my buildings will be. The space needle is something that had to be done so i did do that building but my others have all been just little ideas ive had. Anyhow jcab please clarify your question even though is it so very simple it is just to vague to really ansewer.

Great job so far Joerg. 1.gif I do have one critique though. The seating inside, is a little hard to recognize as seating. All the seats are the same color, and they are all the same shape and butt up against one another. I think you need to space the seats out a little bit so you can tell they are seats, and maybe give them a little color variation (a few different shades of green, just to liven things up a bit).

NO NO! You got me wrong! IT IS A GREAT BUILDING!!!! I was just wondering what it was. I was pretty sure it was some kind of arena. I thought it was a hockey arena. All I was asking was, what it was, not that it looks bad. It looks GREAT! Don't worry. Sometimes what I say comes out wrong.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/5.gif>

Hey DM i had you fooled in that pic i dont even have seats thats why you cant tell there there. Infact i added them and it made gmax so slow that i did a render without them and i couldnt tell the difference between having them and not. So i kinda gave up on the seating area. I will space them out some more and see how that works. I wish you could do animations or just a simple change in the building then i woudl add fans to the seats.

Yeah, it seems render times really jump when your polygon count goes up. Its kind of a bummer...my building is at about 116,000 polygons, but rendering a single zoom 5 view at high quality only takes 30 minutes (not even that, really, if I close other programs that use CPU). Rubik's WTC, though, has 680,000 polygons, and it takes 5 hours to render at zoom 5. Kind of an absurd curve, but there ya go. Oh well.

Yah the 1.6 million polys is with the seats and that just wont do. A single draft view took 28 minutes. So im going to leave it as is. So it ebgins rendering probably alittle later tonight.  Its funny how many polys i have in those seats. Lol Anyhow with out the seats its down to around 400,000 so thats alot better.

Ok guys some bad news i got a corrupt gmax file last night. The good news though is i use autocad fro most of my stuff so all i need to do is reimport it into gmax. this shouldnt be to much work but it has delayed the release by more than 24 hours as i wont be able to render till late tonight again. Sorry guys anyway i have all day to look into some changes so keep the suggestions coming. Also im trying to figure out a way to make the seats look proper but to no avail. And i did the seats in gmax so i lost them with the file so i cant even just use the 3d ones now.

The building looks great joerg. The placing on the lot and the other little details such as the greenery at the corners of the building set it of perfectly. I also like the look of the pic with all the car park surrounding it. makes it look more realistic.

    Excellent work.

I agree with the above. very modern stadium(the only other modern one being the way-too-huge Korean one), and placement is great. whose parking lots are those btw?

Time to resurect this old thing.
    /idealbb/files/silvertower.JPG
Of course this is no where near complete but it does hint as the general design. The Building will be part of a bank complex. This tower is the main tower and will rise up 99 floors making it the tallest in SC4 not including DTs buildings and the CN Tower. Quite a few small details will be added here and there before this tower is finished. Expect the complex itself to be done in mid march though. Also im still trying to recreate a nice shine on the building. Ive tries alot of different methods. Anyhow how do you think it is coming so far.

Could we have a picture of the whole thing? From what I can see it looks sort of like Frogface HQ, except this have a cut in the side that results in a deck. Looking foward to more pictures!<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif>

The only similarity is that its round. Thats it. Anyhow the i have been modeling the tower and its taking awhile to get the right effect so i thaught i might show something before the thread drops to far out of sight.

Ok, your right they're both round and that's it. Well that means I could compare any building thats round to yours. lol

I was wondering about this thread and thanks for reviving it!<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif>

Actually MTLT im just a highschool student my only back ground in cad is a 2d course in my freshman year. I also messed with inventor alot during that time wich is a solid works type of system. For the most part every program ive ever dabbled in has been self tuaght. In fact my instructor for cad and inventor was only a basic drafting teacher so he sent invetor home with me over the summer break and i was an aid in the class for that next year pretty much teaching the rest of the kids how to do it and also desiging about 10 different parts for the solar car we were working on. And i will probably use cad later in life. I personally like to draw alot more though. I have around 200 buildings ive drawn over the years but evertime i get one out to start doing in cad i end up desiging somethign new again.

I am doing this building for a few reasons. First is i like the shiny stainless steel look that alor of german buildings have and i want to make an ultra large structure for sc4 a sort of realistic acrology in a very small form compared to many planned acrologies.

That is pretty cool that you draw buildings and bring them to life in sc4. Iam an artist and I draw many buildings myself but iam still trying to understand the bat software. I guess my buildings would have to stay on plain white paper for now.

I have been messing around with the idea of makign a fully modular seaport like my airport set with the bat and so far here is what i have came up with.
    /idealbb/files/spayt.jpg
Nothing to special as of yet but i have been mostly playing around with getting a good suitable underwater base.
