Ok i have finnaly finished my first building.

Its the Simtropolis Metro Mercy Center. Its just one very large hospital. Improved stats and a maxed out radius. It stands at 34 floors wiht 2 towers.
Here is a pic.
/idealbb/files/build5.jpg
But before i can put it on the lex i need someone to take a night shot of it for me becuase for some reason my bat patch wont work.

Anyhow the sooner someone volunteers the better. The file is 3 megs so its best we do this over msn messenger. My msn is jrg_athlon@msn.com so just add me and i will send it to you. Thanks.

And all the comments i can get about how to keep improving this and other buildings and what you think of the building would be most welcome.

I hope this doesn't offend you, but it looks more like the UN building than a hospital.  I do like it though.  Very good work, joerg.

I see you point Aronion, but it could pass as a world class hospital as far as I am concerned. Good Job!

Its the flags that make it look that way. I had to put somethign out front. Anyhow i think it will go very nicely in a crowded downtown that needs helth care.

Could be, but I am thinking of the two separate towers.  Makes it look like an official building rather then a health care facility.  Perhaps you could add a few walkways between the two towers.  ???<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/23.gif>

Oh come on guys this is getting bad. All i want is one night shot of the building. You see i cant see the buildings lights at night due to a patching error and after putting 2 days for into the buildings i cant get a single screen from one of the 200 people who have downloaded. Sorry for being greedy here but i would relly like to see it at night amoung the games buildings fully lit up.

Oh and mods coudl you change this topic name to joergs bat showcase or somethign along those lines so i can keep posting here.

Anyhow here is my next project im sure you can all tel what it is. Its only about 1% complete now though and im not sure if i will ever even be able to render it but just for the sake of doing it here it is.
    /idealbb/files/track1.JPG
Im going to be asking for alot of help on this one thats for sure. I will especially need help with stuff like lighting and car models for the track itself. I have a few questiosn now but i put them in a thread in the workshop forum.

Any technical drawings or rare pics such as the actual base or close ups of the top or middle woudl be great.

Well the space needle didnt get any further today but i do have a portion of the top near completion.
    /idealbb/files/sapces1.JPG
Getting the curves and angles right is going to be very very hard unless i can get a diagram looking haead on at it or something similar but even then this will be no easy task. So how do you guys think it looks? Come on now i want some comments here i know people are interested in this.

I think someone should comment, so I will. I like the way it looks and I would prefer you continue with the Space Needle over the racetrack, but you do what you want. I think the Space Needle looks great, so far...

And it's funny you want to create the Space Needle... My first BAT-project will be the Euromast in Rotterdam. I just started learning Gmax though, so don't expect that soon. The Euromast (search for it online) is a great Dutch landmark. It's something like Toronto's CN Tower but a lot smaller.

    Good luck with your work!

Probably overdoing this but I really want to see this Space Needle project suceed with a bang.

    Some background--

Opened April 21, 1962 for the Seatle World's Fair, the Space Needle took 400 days to design and build. it took 467 cement trucks and 12 continuous hours to pour 5,850 tons of concrete and 250 tons of rebar to form the Needle's base. It was originally going to named the Space Cage, and the Stuttgart Tower in Germany provided the inspiration for the Needle's Design.

The Space Needle is 605 feet tall and is 730.25 feet above sea level. There are 832 steps to the top of the Needle and three glass elevators that can accomodate 30 passengers. The average elevator trip lasts 43 seconds. There are three restaurants located in the Space Needle--the Space Needle Restaurant and the Emerald Suite on the 500 foot level and the Skyline banquet at the 100 foot level. The rotating restaurants (at the 500 foot level) make one revolution every 58 mintues. All of the restaurants feature Pacific Northwest cuisine--especially fresh seafood and local produce.

There are 24 lightning rods on top of the Space Needle to make it lightning proof. Also, since the Pacific Northwest is prone to earthquakes, the designer doubled the existing building code requirements to make sure the Space Needle would be safe for many years to come. It is also designed to withstand winds of more than 100 miles per hour--it's foundation is 30 feet deep. On a hot day, the Space Needle expands about one inch!

Some pictures from different angles and of the bottom.

Those are awesome pictures and I finally have seen the Space Needle now. I never saw close up-pics before. I only knew Toronto's CN Tower and that tower in Las Vegas with the rollercoaster on top.

Maybe the little something that makes it not seem quite right is the larger black disc under the one you already have on top. Take a good look at the smaller pictures you posted, and you'll see what I mean, The black portion consists of two parts, a larger radius bit with the smaller radius bit, which you already have in your model, on top

Xman i am aware of the next floor below. I think the problem is with the top dome type thing. It doesnt seem bulky enough. But anyhow i have now began work on the bottom tower middle and elevator shafts.

The big thing i need now is information like how high before the main struts turn back out towards the tower and how big the acctual disk is on top i need to know this becuase i have been using an image as a referance for the design so far so i will need to scale it to fit the height of the actual tower.

Also i have a big favor to ask of someone. Well not just someone i was thinking someone like rubik dm or ralph or someone else very good with lighting. Basically im not good at lighting and for me to get better i would need to be able to see the lights in the game. Not to mention this building will need some amazing lighting. So i was hoping one of the greats around here my volunteer alittle of their time to light this sucker up for me. And then send it to me for a final render once i get done with the modeling. Again im sorry to have to ask this but the space needle is one of my favorite structures in the world and alot of people feel the same way and therefore any lighting i could do would not do the building justice.

    Oh almost forgot that pic

The space needle is coming along nicely and if you need some help with the lighting I might be able to spare a few hours to set it up for you.  I'm working overtime on the WTC so I'll have to squeeze it in somewhere but it shouldn't take me too long.

Well i have 2 disapointments right now. 1st is that I put way to much work into a few things you cant even see due to sc4s viewing angle but just seeing the model in autocad is amazing enough to make it worth the extra work i put into those views. Basically the model is about 90% done all i have left are minor details and the base. The legs took up about 3 hours of my time today becuase i first began making them not realizing spacing of the legs is so different from bottom to top and i was forced to redo it. Then there are the sections connecting the legs they were really a pain. But as you can see by the upcoming render things tunred out pretty darn well. Now my next disapointment was this when i export to 3ds from autocad i kept getting things that were very low quality and poly count. Then i found out if i zoomed in after i selected stuff to be exported i got whatever autocad saw on screen and becuase of the zoom in it was much higher quality. But i was still disapointed becuase no matter what i do the middle tower area looks like crap in gmax.

Anyhow what you have been waiting for. Mind you this has absolutely 0 textures.

It looks good. My cities could use it. Something isn't right though. I don't know if it's the detail or what.

Edit: Nevermind, it's the angle of the picture.

Looking real good Joe.  I think you should add in some tables and chairs for the restaraunt though.  It would help bring the building to life.  I also have a plan to illuminate the entire interior of the top so it would look a little bland without the dining setup.  Let me know when you get to a point where you can send it to me.
