That is being worked on as we speak. It is the same case as moving the omnibus images, the directory with the trivia and some CML smiley's are missing.

I've been getting this error when trying to access some parts of the site.

Error

ERROR: Sorry, you do not have permissions to access the requested object.

Error Code: 103

quote>

I can still access the STEX and the SC4 Gen Discussion, but if I click on any of the scrolling topic headlines, or some parts of the Omnibus I get the error.

Odd: Using Safari under Vista, the STEX seems to work up to two downloads (it has the odd habit of opening a separate "Details" popup for every DL clicked. However, the third "Details" never loads, just stays blank, regardless of which DL is clicked.

Using IE7 let's me DL one, but thereafter it freezes the page - not the Explorer - and nothing but shutting IE down or moving to another site will do it. From that moment on the STEX freezes immediately, even after the cache has been emptied.

Hi, I tried to go into chat but when I went in it said "nickname already in use". I believe I'm the only rainyday here! and also there was no rainyday in chat too. So whats wrong??

The forum is completely ruined. I tried to post a city journal which had special characters in it. I noticed the characters messed up the post, so I deleted it and made a new one. I pasted the whole beginning of it in and removed the characters and it said "You have not entered a message" or something. Then, I opened up the HTML source in frontpage and started copying and pasting and I had not noticed that one of the symbols was there. Guess what... it was fine when I first saved it, but it messed up when I removed the symbol. What is wrong with it!

Simple solution, Bring 5.0 back!!!

6.0 has some bugs colonel1 and this thread is for fixing them by bringing them to the attentiopn of the mods and admins, it is not somewhere where you can campaign to bring back sc4.

As well as that, It was stated in the st rules that this site is not a democracy but we do like to keep things fair.

Dogturbina:That happened to me also. I figured out that the problem was that I had changed my password and I had my browser set to remember another password to log in automatically, so my browser logged in with the old password. Maybe this is what happened to you?

I just tried that rainyman, but mozilla had my passwords correct. I just tried loggin into with internet explorer, works perfectly. So it must be a firefox compability issue with the new script. not sure, atleast i can use the worst browser ever to get some of the best downloads, guess that equals it out. lol

I can't get into chat, the page loads as a blank, it takes several clicks of the same button to move from page to page, Simtropolis is slower than ever

oh, i also can't edit my posts, which is why I'm down here typing out a second message. Simtropolis now screws with my browser regularly, it's insane that every tab I have open should go blank. God it's doing it again! X(

I think ST 6.0 is broken.

I typed a basic normal, nothing but text post in the NAM thread to tell them of a little problem with the readme, and it never showed my post... I checked the end of that thread, and it is NOT there.

Further... i went to the main screen and waited and waited... finally in the scrolling topics, it sure enough showed my post and i clicked it...

... it took me here: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=124&threadid=64340&STARTPAGE=143

As you can see.... no data, no post. Just a blank thread page.

Hope this bug helps someone to fix. Thanks.

Brad2.jpgBrad: The first part is just a post bug.

Brian2.jpgBrian: And your post looks perfectly fine, and is on page 140, not 143.

Brad2.jpgBrad: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=124&threadid=64340&STARTPAGE=140.

Brian2.jpgBrian: As for why it jumped to page 143?

Brad2.jpgBrad: That I don't know. It's another bug.

That was an error from back when ST changed forum software between 4.0 and 5.0. Many large old topics have blank pages such as those.. not too much we can do it about that, unfortunately.. you'll just need to adjust the url to get to the right page.

A posting technical question for anyone: I have used the clicky thing to add pix to my posts. It seems to often either delete the rest of the post or the 3-5 lines under the picture insertion point. Anyone else having this problem? I also seem to get a weirdo scripting error whenever I try to change fonts or highlight or change text colors.

Not a bug, so much as an Issue.

Well when I go to ST on my broadband connection (280kbs) It takes a full minute to show anything! And when I'm at school on a 3.5 kbs connection it takes 5-10 mins...Also sometimes I couldn't post, but if you see this post, that issue must have been resolved.

Now, not an Issue, but just something I noticed at school. Because of my slow connection I could see exactly how it was loading, and I saw a glimpse of 5.0 underneath 6.0! Is this because Dirk hasn't completely removed 5.0??? And it's just lying under 6.0?

When i logged in today i got this strange message at the top(and i'm using IE7 - see my other posts on page 6 or 7 i think):
You are seeing this message because we detect that you are using
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) ; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.30; MEGAUPLOAD 2.0; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.648; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Simtropolis.com may not support your browser type, especially if it is IE 6 or older, and as a result many features may not look or work correctly.
Consider upgrading your browser to: FireFox 3, Latest Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera or Chrome to maximize your experience.

On the positive side, on the bottom of the message i could click on a "hide" text-link to hide the message and now the top banner shows as it does in Firefox 3.0.

As anyone who ever tried to get "Hello, World" to display correctly, new developments end up buggy - it's a fact of life. In both IE 7, IE 8, FF (any version), Safari, a lot of these errors can be traced back to settings, especially with IE's ridiculous ActiveX "security" settings, and in particular under Vista. Check your settings.

I've had minor issues in the first few days, and some have not been resolved (presumably because he man behind it all went off to Paris). But by and large I can honestly state that regardless of which browser I use (with the exception of FF 3.0 - that one is as buggy as an ant hill - I've got only two three four remaining issues (plus one I am unsure about):

  1. Comments on downloads still show script code right after I add a comment , but it disappears next time I look at it, so no big deal;
  2. Some subscriptions to topics, notably this one, no longer sends updates, despite repeated visits to this forum. Again, no big deal.
  3. Updating the text of a previous upload results in an error - the "Saving.." dialog remains on forever, and - oddly enough - Windows displays that it encountered an error.
  4. After I edited this message for the first time, the numbered list did not display..let's see now..
There was the case that when you uploaded, the upload would show up twice - but not having uploaded anything since my first attempts, I am not certain this is still a problem.

Nice to add: a mod or program category to the upload form - my uploads are now categorized as "plopable". Odd, but again, not really something to write home about..

And no, let's not bring back ST 5..

@SWAT-MEDIC

If you read the first line in my post, i've written that i'm using IE7(i even re-installed it about 2 weeks ago - first deleted it to go back to IE6 then installed it again for IE7 and it's only on Simtrop i get this message).

*******************************************************************************************************************************

Bug:

On another note when i go into dashboard and check my subscribsions, they won't go from new update to read even though i've marked them read under personal messages(in simtrop 5,0 when i checked my subscribsions and then went on another page and back all markings/icons was changed as if they was read) wich makes it a little harder to know witch is updated.

Even though i've read, a few days later with no new update they are still marked/the icon is yellow colored and not grey as it should have been.

This is not a big problem but still.

Hi

I can't upload a file to the STEX, I've tried with IE 8, Google Chrome 1.0.154.53 and Firefox 3.0.8.

IE8 and Firefox stay uploading the file and nothing happen later.

Google Chrome show this message: An internal error ocurred: 201, and stay uploding the file forever.

15.gif Do you have any idea of what may be wrong? Because I see that other users are uploading their files. 15.gif

We're trying to track this down,

Can you let me know the exact filenames of the files, (jpgs and zip) you were trying to upload?

If you want to email those files to me, I'd like to examine them: dirktator@simtropolis.com

Thanks!

Every time I open this website, it reminds me "your login information was invalid". I used "recover password", and I copied and pasted the correct name and password in the login box. But it didn't work. Therefore I'm unable to download anything from STEX now. BTW, I'm using Chrome.

Hi, I have a problem with the imageshack uploader in the cj section. I don't know if it is happening all over the forums.

This pic was uploaded from the imageshack main site.
