    Hope you're going well!!!

Due to a wedding this weekend (with my girlfriend's family staying for a week) I'wont be able to make any update (and to play) until wednesday or thursday... so, I spend one little hour at work (during the lunch break of course) to make a Skyscraperpage-like diagram with the major building in Dubuque, IA.

CBD of Dubuque is very humble and scaled to a city of its size (I get inspired by Des Moines, IA; Toledo, OH; Dayton, OH or Rochester, NY) Also, no 500m tall building or a uggly skyscraper jungle...)

Here is a link for the original size: http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/7190/skylinej.jpg

It's very funny to see how powerful Paintbrush is...

Raysfan  -  Hi. It's very simple. Just have to plop all the building you plan to have for your downtown, main building's side in front of you. You make a "print-screen" and save the image on Paintbrush. Simply select the building's front by copy-paste in a new window. After, you must to strecht verticaly every facade by 15°, clean the background and make some small retouching and to place them by order of size. You'll have probably a real-world based building with it's correct size. It will be used to determine the size of the other building. It's very funny to do!

    Take care and thank you.

Nice update! I really like the city hall and the park around it 19.gif It has a very pleasant look to it.
Also, many ponds here and there look really nice, like in picture of the junction of Millville Road and Leuchs Road.
    Keep up the great work!

Simbourgeois  -  Thank you for your comment! Sometimes it's relax to make a small town and the State of Iowa has a ton of this. Glad you like my City Hall! Take care!

penguin007  -  Thank you Will! Hope to see your first build pictures of your Cj soon!

Wrightguy0  -  Thanks! I agree with you. So why I never start by building donwtown... I prefer to take a lot of attention to build the suburbs/farmlands first and keep for what most of viewer ar waiting for for the lasts updates.

ComputerGuy890100  - Thank you for your post!

thepokemaniac  -  Woops... I'm aware that some fast food chains are often local in the U.S. I plop the Whataburger Restaurant why they look good (I like the roof shape). Thank you for your comment Adam!

    TmiguelT  -  Thank you!

So, I was one week of during Easter: no family meeting/diner, no duties... only free time! So, I took the occasion to finish the western and northwestern suburbs of my metro area. 60 maps / 64 are now completed!

Refering to the past two pages... fantastic updates! Your region has aged like a fine wine I must say! Just to be picky.. I find the curves in some of your roads and railways (s-bndish things) to be a shame in your city because everything else is so great! Where possible I would suggest using FAR puzzle peices. I relize thats not possible (to my knowledge) with one way streets but for the rail I think it would just polish your work up to be greatly realistic.

Quick thought here Mr Beer just thinking out loud. Would it be possible to (with the help) of the Simtropolis admin, make a DVD set of this Region with the lots and everything. I am sure that you have Plugins for your cities kept very clean and accessible for easy access. Maybe for a $50 or so donation to simtropolis. Be able to get a copy of the completed region so that us "mortals" of city realism can explore this wonderful world?

I must say I am 110% flabbergasted every time I enter this CJ. I keep thinking how can you make this better and every time I come you show me something new... something incredible. I am a fan of realism. And this makes me think that even though this game is as old as it is. It can still be manipulated in such an exquisite and powerful way.

Congratulations on an amazing region, and amazing city, and what I am sure will be another popular contender in the 2010 Trixie Awards!

    Kind Regards,

    Marshall

    Keep up the great work!

That region view of yours is simply jaw dropping...

The university shots are lovely, and I've said it before, but I need to say it again...Your use of the peg ponds and streams is downright awesome!

Your journal is a joy to follow!

Jamonbread  -  Thank you very much for your comment! Yes, these curve are not very beautiful. We are very far from what we can do with Citiex XL but it's why I don't have a lot of curved road.. I though about the FAR puzzle pieces but it avoids you to plop grass texture or something else. I also use a light grey pavement texture mod for the road and these pieces are dark grey, it wouldn't be fantastic...

MTLT_17  -  Hi! Thank you for your post. It would be a great idea (I must finish the region before) If people are not affraid by the long list of plugin I have... to be continued!

I'm very glad that you appreciate my region and my work! Hope you get inspired as well! Thank you again and take care Marshall!

Simbourgeois  -  Yes, I think so or during the last Spring Break... Thank you for your post Simbourgeois!

shilka  -  Yes, very nice result, isn't it? Thank you for your comment and take care!

Ah, the rural life. Gotta love the smell of farmland, cow poop (manure) and the village life. David, you have somewhat inspired me when I build my small towns and farming communities. My favorite would be the gravel pit and the farms. Look forward for more of Dubuque in the near future. Take care amigo. JKB

    IMPORTANT!

    Hi everyone!

I would like to explain that something hard happened to me since last week... My girlfriend and me break off after two years and five month.

These times are very hard but I'm going to look forward. I must find a new appartement and I'll be on holidays for three weeks from next thursday.

For the moment my CJ will be on hold for at least one month or more... I'm disgusted by this game for the moment because I spent too much time on it instead of

spend time with her... but it wasn't the only for why we break off.

    So, hope you'll understand.

Take care all and I'll probably post something here during my vacations.

    Sincerely yours.

    David
