     Thanks man.

I really plan on making some forward progress with this project now that I have a solid plan developed. Really the only thing that I am unsure of now, is whether I am going to use SC4 highways or double one-way roads AKA Mr. Beer.

I have tried about 10 Columbus maps trying to find one that uses a 1/2 mile scale grid, considering the fact that each large SC4 city is approx. 2.5 x 2.5 miles. Ended getting one from a friend. It's a Rand McNally map book from 1999, but it works.

I was able to split up the map into something that will fit on a 10 x 10 region, 10 x 14 if I include Delaware. Don't know why I put 12 and 16 on there lol. Good thing about this is that I don't need to start at a central location, and I can work on any city that I want.

Imageshack sizes it down, so I hope everyone can read it lol.

Great idea to break it down and work on multiple areas - I'm sure things will get frustrating at times, considering Columbus' multiple grid angles. Highways - I have no preference - this is SC after all, and I'm kinda used to the old style freeways 2.gif They are a bit like most of the freeways inside (and icluding) the outerbelt, don't you think? However Mr Beer makes exceedingly good recreations... sorry, I know that was totally unhelpful!

Good work on your project, it seems to be very ambitious. I like the street layout on the top of the page, it looks very promising. All the best for your work, recreations can be hard once in a while   46.gif  lol , looking very much forward to more,

I'm from Columbus but living in England now, although I might do the next semester abroad at OSU. Anyhow, good to see this being done, you've put a lot of work into this and I can't wait to see the progress.

Thanks. Just wish I had gotten more done in that year lol. I have started the Linden/Clintonville Layout though.

I actually took a trip though Linden earlier this week, what a ghetto it's become 14.gif

There's some pictures and maps throughout the thread, point away lol. Ideally, I would like to have the transportation map for the entire city completed within 3 months. Or at least a good chunk of it.

    wow, very very impressive!

any chance of a region map?

Columbus, by the way, has one of the better designed transportation grids i've encountered in my travels.

keep up the good work! 4.gif

Thanks for the comment. Yes I do plan on posting region maps from time to time as I make progress.

Haha yeah. As much as I ***** in morning rush hour, I can always say that I'm glad I don't live in L.A lol.

Thanks guys. I don't have an in-game update today. I have been working on my reference map some more. It's expanded to Westgate and Lincoln Village on the west side, and to Reynoldsburg, Pickerington and even Etna on the east side.

Sorry the image is small and crappy. it gives you an idea of whats planned so far though. Pink is whats been done in game, blue is what's left.

Oh, don't rush it and take your time. I am sure everyone will understand that one cannot throw out an update every second day... . Personally, I think lots of viewers tend to forget how much time a recreation takes - so just take it easy.

However, very ambitious plans you have, so I am looking very much forward to more of your great work,

Wow, it would be a very huge recreation!!! As lucky7 said, take your time and if you see you waiste your time on large farmlands, don't hesite to reduce the size of your region (make back-ups with an external hard disk can be very helpfull if you want to go back to a larger version)

Hope you will have fun with Columbus, OH!!!

I took a stab at recreating Milwaukee, WI...a few years back and I think I may take another stab once I'm done with college in a few months....considering my Sessquenna region was lost when my harddrive died 15.gif This is looking really good so far.

Awesome stuff! Considering the fact that I was on a holiday here just yesterday, I have got to say I have gained considerable respect for this project. I took 1137 photos of Columbus and surrounding area, mostly of the road infrastructure. So if you need some reference photos, I'm bound to have 'em.

    Great stuff!

I don't have anything really to add here except that I live in Columbus and I want to post to keep updated of this project. If you look closely at my user icon, you can see that it is the Columbus skyline superimposed in front of Alpine mountains and Pacific beaches.
