Hi Guys and welcome to my new CJ Albany

Albany is a City in the Southern Hemishphere somewhere (NZ or Aussie) and currently has a population of 150,000 people and i expect to grow it to around 1 to 2 million people when the region is complete, It is situated of the Pacific coast of some country and is the place where many rivers (most notably the albany river) join the ocean. This First update will show of Downtown Albany and its surrounding areas

Downtown Albany - This is the most important business district in the region

South Albany - One of the fasting growing areas in the region and has some of the richest residential towers in Albany

76433773vx5.jpg

Newlands - Formerly the cities retail centre until 5 years ago when the land became valuable because of its proximity to downtown and is now being targeted by developers for apartments and offices

This is the AON tower it is the tallest in Albany at 210m and has an observation level at the top for magnifecent views of the Albany river and the surrounding mountains (youll get a better look at the region in my second update)

Broadway Mansion is one of Albanys most iconic towers, though it doesnt make much of an impact on the skyline anyomore it was once the tallest in albany and is an important part of memorial square. You can also see the dome hotel the cities largest and most expensive hotel

71334825jl7.jpg

Memorial sqaure is nestled in the centre of downtown and the citys 3 main avenues converge there

it is one of the cities most historical plces, it has survived numerous proposals to be torn down a replaced by office space

36737580ho4.jpg

This is the West City Bridge Exit on the western motorway (you can see part of the bridge) and as the name suggests the bridge goes to west city (next update), this is one of the cities two main problem areas trafficwise, it already caters to 10000 travelling into downtown despite the fact that west city currently has 0 sims the development past the highway is very little (only about 20 tiles) but is very dense (poor planning by me)

90009232xf7.jpg

This is the downtown exit on the same motorway and is the cities other traffic problem, it has twice the traffic of the west city exit (over 10% of the poulation)  and the undeveloped areas have been planned to divert traffic onto the avenues converging here, oops!

I hoped you liked the first look at albany

tell me what you think

Next up is west city

Looking fantastic! You did a really good job with the building selection and placement. Very realistic! I really love the shot with the hotels and the highway going in between. 9.gif

PS: What's that giant thing getting built there? A mall?

Wow, Scotty. That downtown is beautiful! I think you used your creations to great effect (lol) plus you have a wonderful mix of BATs! Looking great!

newyorkrunaway1: The Aon tower is by Scotty and has yet to be released. I'm not sure which building is being referred to as "the dome hotel" So I don't know what to tell ya.

Anyway, I really want to see these other update you are alluding to. If they are as good as this one, we are in store for a great time,

-Todd

newyorkrunaway - The AON tower is one of my BATs it will be on the STEX when i finish modding it properly and the hotel is off some other site, i think it was capitalsimcity, ill find a link if i can

allez l'om - i thought about it but those sort of buildings dont reall fit in an australaisan setting cause cities down here didnt develop to much until after WW2 and what few buildings there were were often commercial or torn down in the 70' or 80's, i probably will put some more modern apartments in though

    Update 2 - West City

West City is an area of Albany directly across the river and west of downtown hence the name, West city is almost a seperate city in its own right with a busy buisness district and some of the regions most important institutions such as the University of Albany, it is built around Mt Hamilton (not really much of a mountain it just sounds cooler) and is built on the banks of the Albany and Gilmore rivers

    Overview of West City

    60698085pm3.jpg

West Cities CBD is home to some of Albanys finest hotles due to being a more peaceful and scenic location than downtown

    10tx3.jpg

These ar the two (or 3) most important buildings in west cities CBD, The Albany Broadcasting Centre and The Intercontinental hotel and apartments

    11qm9.jpg

This is The West city exit on the western motorway, it joins the motorway to the recently completed Mt Hamilton Expresway which goes south towards the pacific coast highway, there are plans to covernt the off ramps to a full interchange to handle traffic better

    12zq8.jpg

A random on/off ramp along the expressway it looks a bit much and i thought so too at first but it sees a lot of traffic heading into the city pass through

    14gr7.jpg

This is the University of Albany it waas founded over 100 years ago and has had constant additions to keep it as one of the finest universitys around

    15gr9.jpg

Apartments for students of the Uni

    16lm7.jpg

This is the univerity oval, it hosts the many major sporting events held at the university

    17pa4.jpg

As you can see the city is starting to extend into suburbia, this is just outside of west cities CBD and is nestled between the river and the mountain

    18lx4.jpg

I hope you enjoyed the tour of west city

Excellent start, your downtown looks fantastic with many details who make your city very realistic. The aerial view is impressive, and your region is really beautiful. Awesome work.

Ohmigod that's awesome. The West City area is great. Those are some fancy hotels, too. Did I mention the Uni? I love it! It is certainly very nice. Love your suburbs, too. Very scenic.
