I knew you would like it, I do anyways.9.gif

The subway entrance always looks kinda strange, depending from where you look, sometimes it looks like it is running into the water, like the picture above and from another angle, it looks like they filled the opening up with grass. I guess some render problem that this lot has....

I will be back tomorrow with the rest of the pictures and the story. I'm too darn busy irl today to do the writing, meanwhile go and download the Nexis Grain Elevator that I uploaded to the STEX this morning.2.gif

btw: the night pictures of Gloryville are just wonderful, I kept them for tomorrow.

I suppose that the Sirius HQ was somehow overlooked , so I added these pictures of it. It is the highest building on Genesis, only a bit higher than the Nexis Electronics HQ.

Some of the CJ's BATs and Lots will be uploaded to the STEX soon, mostly those that have been demanded to.

I'll be back in a couple of hours or so with the last part of the Gloryville update.....1.gif

A big part of the General Hospital (the main building) is a Somy BAT I think.

Well, I made it! Here is the last update part of Gloryville....ouffff.46.gif

This is getting complicated and long, the region is growing, so are the cities. Another row of updates like this will not be due for at least a month or two.

A last look at the entire City with all the important landmarks. There is a lot of stuff in that City and as I said in the beginning of the Gloryville update, you have seen only a part of the City in detail. I took alreadt too many pictures.
Now , this is downtown from the backside. You see most of the downtown and the two harbours, plus the Welcome Island.

    Population: 344,179
Celebrioties: Surprizingly only 1 Celebrity lives here, Alexander MacVicar.
    Landmarks and Companies: OMG.....Slayer Inc...Slayer HQ...Convention Center...Mosaik Stadium...Grand Cemetary...First Arrivers Cemetary...Welcome Island and Statue...Nexis Electronics HQ...Daight Nexis Statue...Daight Nexis Statue and his Wife's Shoir Statue on the Public Meeting Place...Plaisance Harbour...Gentleman's Club...Barby's Vacation and Relaxation Center...LBST Phase II...Counsel Park...Regional Administration Office...Fort of the White Family...Regional General Hospital...Nexis Space Station Replica Museum...Rilian Waterworks Main Office...Nexis Grains LTD...MacVicar Mansion...Old Lighthouse...Little Blue House...Brett's HQ...R.I.C.O.Tv and Radio...Sunset Motel...Science Center...Central Train Station...Zoo and the Fair...Natural Park...House on the Rock...Sirius Financial Institute...District Courthouse...Tower of Eternal Beliefs...Mr Vegetable Architecture HQ...International Airport...First Church on Genesis...and the old Townhall....ouff...again.
Jobs: 281,992. Very few industrial jobs, and most of them at Slayer's Inc (approx.2000)

    1Gloryville-FullDowntownview.jpg

This is the Harbour of Gloryville, touching somehow the downtown. They even started building Hi-Risers on the pier, that's how the room for these monsters has become rare in Gloryville. Two Navy ships have anchored here, while their crew are on shore leaves somewhere in the City.

    2GloryvilleQuaieGenView.jpg

The same pier in the night. There are a lot of Pubs and Restaurants on and around the pier and many parties are thrown in this part of the city. Just check where the lights are, that's where the action is. Also we have a beautiful look at the Welcome Statue that everyone on sea can see when coming into the bay.
The little Blue House that one of our readers saved is still there.

    3Gloryville-QuaiNite.jpg

A closer look of the Welcome Island, built on a rock that just barely came up from the sea. This of course is a tourist attraction and Boats and watertaxis bring the people to see the Colossus up close. The Statue was offered by many of our big business people, some we know, such as Mr Alexander MacVicar,Mr Kevin Slayer, Miss Evermind Wellwisher and Mr Brett. Many others also have sponsered a part.

    4Gloryville-WelcomeIsle.jpg

After Miss Barby left us ,her Vacation and Relaxation Center went into the hands of the people who were already working there, and eversince the Health Center has doubled in size. Here you can spent a weekend and get back into town like a newborn, with all the stress of the city forgotten. The Center employs more than 350 people and almost 10,000 visitors last year were recorded, meaning almost 200 people a week.
If you are lucky, this is the only place in Gloryville where you can still see some deer roaming in the forest near the parks.

    5Gloryville-BarbyVacation.jpg

The LBST ( Lazor Beam Space Traveler) invented by the father of Vallen Nexis, Daight, has been improved by the co-operation of many technicians and scientists, including Mr Joao Otavio, which for him it was a part time hobby. This is Phase II with a slighter improvement of speed and NO side effects. This is where more than 5000 people from Uru come in to immigrate to Genesis every week. Also many objects as these boxes, that certainly contain some pieces of another historical building that will be reconstructed here, or soemthing else.
The first thing you see on Genesis when you arrive , is the Daight Nexis Statue, that was lately brought here from the old downtown area. He welcomes the new arrivers.(on the left) And on the right is the Vallen Nexis Statue, the owner of the LBST System today and son of Daight.

    6Gloryville-LBST.Close.jpg

Viewed from another side, we can see the Immigration office a little better, also the Sunset Motel, for those who only visit Genesis for awhile. I guess one can now easily understand the richness of the Nexis Empire, only by knowing the amount of people coming in every week, paying a little fortune for the LBST ride, which by the way now takes only about 50 seconds from Uru to Genesis.
The LBST is now running at 87% of its capacity, only 27 years from the impact of Opall.
I didn't show a close picture of the arrival hall just in front of the Immigration Office, where all the arrivers go for inspection, identification and classification, which in some cases may take days  to do. On earlier high view pictures , you might have seen the big building near the LBST.

    7Gloryville-LBST.Close.back.jpg

A part of the Gloryville Natural Park has been opened to the public, but visiting with a guide only. Here you can see some of these rare kind of Pine trees and also the waterflora. The people who live close by in these appartment, must have a beautiful view of the park, mainly those who live in higher stories.

    8GloryvilleSwampPark.jpg

A close look reveils that the crystal clear pond contains goldfish that were brought in from Uru, a species that they didn't want to loose.

    9GloryvilleSwampParkClose.jpg

Today was the annual honoring of the first arrivers that were burried here on the hill. These people, a team of 9, were the first arrivers on Genesis, and all were buried here. They are: Col.Kroncx/Mollock/Dr Tyronca and Bimmel/ Dr Funa and Vallen Hoft/Captain Furron, the leader of this expedition, Roy and Dr Philimen. Maybe some of you remember these *Heros*. Family members and descendants come here every year on the day when their capsule first landed, to honor them for having opened another wonderful world to them.

    10Gloryville-Honoring.jpg

Near the International Airport the Highway comes into this township. It was very costy and quite a hassel to get the highway into the county, but with a lot of patience and of course a lot of money, we now have a connection to Highway one and two, both that cross the whole region.

    11Gloryville-Hghwy.jpg

Just beside the Highway end is the very well known Gloryville College that Dan once had built here. The older building is the Art College, where some our younger celebrities attend and the newer part is the Hi-Tech College. So whether you want to work for the First Contact museum, the Gloryville Philharmonic Orchestra or the Nexis Electronics Inc, you must simply study here to get the bases needed for these interesting places to work. This college is as well known as the Bolton University.

    12Gloryville-Colleges.jpg

And finally we will say goodbye to the Gloryville update with a night picture, viewed from over the Welcome Island. This is the Jewel of Genesis, so called by many, and we all understand why.

    13Gloryville-DowntownNight.jpg

I hope that you like this update of all the townships, villages, towns and Cities of Genesis that have been sofar conquered by the former Urulians and now the time has come to add your comments. I would like to hear from some of those hundreds of Lurkers that come here to this CJ everyday....47.gif

If you have a question, go ahead and ask.

Now I will take a week or so off,to get all my ideas gathered and do some BATting, only to start all over again with the * Next Generation*.
I would like to hear from you all, how the CJ has changed your way of playing or how it added spices to your games. Thanks for stopping in folks.
(Of course I will add a comment here and there during the break and also answer your questions)2.gif

Ok I confess....I'm a lurker. Feel my shame.

I do really like your cj. I especially like your attention to detail. For example on the previous page you had a stadium and added a parking lot. Those small things really make such a big difference. Plus you landscaped it to make it all flow together really well.

On a constructive criticism note (really more of a personal preference) earlier this page you had Marrast's riverwalk (can't remember the actual name) and I saw you had a clock tower (also can't remember name) and Frogfaces's monument. I didn't really like the clock tower and monument next to each other. They seemed to compete with each other due to their similar yet different heights and very different styles. Just mho.

Thanks for this cj. Even though I've been pretty silent, I have taken a lot from it. Most importantly that attention to detail you give everything.

Lol...I'm about the farthest from a lurker you could get. I think I have about 12 posts a day. As many others have told you, this is the BEST CJ on Simtropolis. It's motivated me to improved my SimCity playing skills. For example, last week, I got my region over 200,000 resident for the first time. I have Nexis to thank for that. I've learned so much, what could all of us do without Nexis?

I like the highway shrinking down to a road meeting at a regular intersection.

How's that for picking out one tiny little thing that grabbed my attention? 1.gif

According to the others, i think this Gloryville update is certainly the better until now. Sure that the following ones will reserve us more surprises.

Of course stage 8 HQs you made are fantastic... But, in my opinion, these creations cannot occult the other ones, that bring to your cities their charming touch. Personally, the two colleges are my favorites : contrast between ancient and modern architecture is a greatful idea.
I wonder who will be allowed there in the near future... 1.gif

    Thanks Mr B you're a great storyteller ! 35.gif

Sirius Group building is SPECTACULAR!!! I *LOVE* IT!!!

And you were right, the night shot was great. Except for one thing, the lights were off in one of the big tall buildings, I think it's the Nexis Electronics building.

Well I'm a little late for my comment on Gloryville, blame RLS ! I don't know where to start, this is just colossal ! Some could say that the downtown buildings are too closed to each other (skyscraper forest) but that's not my opinion. I think you've created an impressive skyline, a very hard thing to do. I found the general look much better than Nexis City wich was already very good. All the details, parks, roads and building mixing seem perfect. I can't pass on the Gloryville College. Are those two buildings of your's or are they downloads. Anyways I want them !29.gif

How did your CJ influenced the way I play SC4 ? It mostly influenced my way of building small and medium sized cities. Before I started reading this CJ I had very little interest in rural towns. I didn't find it challenging so my region had two major urban areas on five large maps and a whole lot of empty space. Now I build small cities far from each other linked with country roads and restricted access highway (ANT network). I've pushed my a lot on the aesthetic appeal of my smaller cities. Last, you've convinced my that I should start plopping a little in my large cities to keep a coherent look. I could even start a CJ because of you!
