ILL Tonkso, welcome to the CJ.

Here is another part of the Gloryville Update, part 3 of 5.This time I included a clear picture of the entire City, so you can rinse your eyes. In this overview picture of the City, you can see how the city is more or less divided into several sectors. The Gloryville Natural Park now has been surrounded by some deluxe residences and Appartments, downtown has spred towards the sea and the south hill, the airport has completely changed places and a Stadium is now where it used to be. On the southern border, there is the industrial Park, or let's say what's left of it. And the General Hospital is now on top of the south hill.
Barby's Vacation Center is now bigger than ever and we will see it close up in the next update. And finally the harbour has changed and now almost every lot on the Ocean side is now developped.

    1Gloryville-Overlook.jpg

The International Airport. From here you can travel from one region to the other and maybe even go visit the other side of Genesis.

    2Gloryville-Airport.jpg

Airtraffic is awful sometimes and already some citizens are against the new airport and its position. Many say that the airport should have been built outside the City and further away from any civilization. They say that Atlas in the south would have been the best place for it. It is out of town and not too far from the City and with an adequate transportation system from the Airprt to the City, this would have been easier on some Genesian's nerves. But hey.....now the airport is built and that's where it's gonna stay for awhile. That is exactly what the counsel said.

    3GloryvilleAirtraffic.jpg

Outside the downtown area are the living spaces and here is one of them on the ocean side. Gloryville, being a proud City, has always been a little picky in City planning and wherever you go in this City, parks and recreation centers have been built and offered to the citizens. After all it's the Capitol and the Capitol usually is the most visited place in a region.

    4Gloryville-Res.jpg

You can also travel by water from the southend to the northend, whether it is by ferry or by watertaxis. Every acre of land is being used and a wild beach front is not found anymore in this county. Wherever possible , a small beach was created and if you really want to enjoy big time beaches , you better go the west to White Sands where you will be more than combled with beautiful beaches, only 40 minutes from Downtown..

    5Gloryvilleharbour1.jpg

A new transportation system introduced by Lyll Nexis, is the suspended and elevated rail system, which has its first here in Gloryville. It takes less space and does not interfere with the traffic on ground level. So far only a small strip has been layed, more like an experimentation. It starts here near the southern Ferry and stops just on the other side of the south hill near the airport. This will be tested for the next two years and if it is working like expected, then an additional  rail will be built to the northern part of the City, going right through downtown. PLans are already made and even a lot of space has been kept clear for this possible expansion of the transportation system.

    6GloryvilleRaisedrails.jpg

Here the elevated rails run near the south hill and pass the Grand Cemetary, where most of our ancestors and celebrities have been buried in the Urulian way. Nearby another rail system, also invented by Lyll Nexis and again a first on Genesis, is the underground rail system , or also simply called the subway.
Here the gorundlevel rails go under ground. For the moment only a small distance was achieved, but a greater expansion for this also to be expected in the futur. The subway is supposed to, according to the existing plans, go to Bolton and Tenzel, right under the Regional Natural Park and downtown. Ms Nexis thinks that it will clear out completely the traffic problem that Gloryville and the surroundings are starting to experience.
Right here is also where the Headquarters of the Sherlock Holmes Security Services are, on the bottom right. From here they control Gloryville in its entire spreading and the services are of first class, since here in Gloryville the laws are severe and you better respect them if you do not wish to spend some time in the newly bult penitentiary on one of the smaller Nexis Islands.
On the left is the Neurology Center, a division of the Big General Hospital on top of the south hill.

7Gloryville-cemetary.jpgRemember this plaza? This is still where once a month the Rulers, the counsels and all the Mayors from all over Genesis have their bi-annual meeting to discuss their municipal politics. It is located just beside the Genesis Regiopnal Administration Office, which for many it has become too crowded. A new building has been planned and construction might start any time soon.
The Nexis Starplaza, on the bottom right of the picture, was transported from the Capitol of Uru and reconstructed here to continue to keep an eye on Genesis. This statue was ereceted longtime ago in Urulia, long before the first arrivers on Genesis. If you have read the story from the beginning, you will surely remember a little kid with the name of Daight Nexis who once climbed that statue to touch its planet on top, which was supposed to be the saver of the Urulians (which is Genesis) and that kid was the headnews on this day,and later he became the Man that invented the LBST, that made it possible for everyone on Uru to come to Genesis before the meteor will hit the homeplanet.

    8GloryvilleBigPlaza.jpg

This is what is left of the industrial Park, except for the Slayer Inc Company, which we will visit much later. Here we find the water purification Center of Rilian's Waterworks Inc and some freight train stations, which allow the merchandises to be imported and exported from the City. The big building in the middle is the Main power center. Although more than 80 % of all power used here is coming from Grand Dam, a Power center was built for the *just in case* moments, like the big powerfailure 14 years ago which was followed by the inondations in the Hawklyn Valley.

    9Gloryville-IndPark.jpg

One of the freight train stations in the Industrial Park is a Grain Elevator to charge the local grains onto trains. Owned by a division of the Nexis Empire, Nexis Grains handles grains from all over the countryside and has already become the biggest Grain ex- and Importer.

    10GloryvilleElevatorClose.jpg

Near the airport, a Fort has been rebuilt, after it was imported piece by piece from Uru through the LBST system, which we will also visit later on. This was a historical site on Uru before. Now that Uru will be destroyed, many of these historistic sites and buildings will be demantled , only to be rebuilt back here on Genesis.

    11Gloryville-histVillage.jpg

And for the last picture of this update are the quality living residences and appartments that surround the whole Gloryville National Park, many still under construction.

    12GloryvilleNatParkLiving.jpg

I hope that you enjoyed this update also. See ya all very soon again with the follow up of the Gloryville Update.

Wow. I really like how they brought the Star Plaza to Gloryville. After all, the Genesis that we see now wouldn't have been possible without Daight Nexis.

Yes leech10, it is a remake of a simcity 2000 building, but I cannot remember where I got it from, I think it was from our Stex here.

Lol, I didn't even see the picture of the crash when I took it...I guess that the El-Train and the subway are a good thing for Gloryville. Wait until you see the rush hour picture of the traffic coming in in the morning. Just a plein mess!34.gif

Yay! We finally see the Gloryville updates! Everyone's been waiting for the past few weeks! Great job, and can't wait for the rest!

Yes, that SimCity 2000 building comes from the STEX, but I don't remember the name of it. A lot of the buildings are from the STEX or the Japanese buildings thread, so search in those.

Update four of 5 and I think it will be 6 in all by now....31.gif

Here is a General view of the Gloryville Natural Park, that was so much appreciated by Miss Barby and Elizabeth White from Black Lake. The park has been slightly reduced by 30 % in the last 10 years, but many say that this is about as far as the construction will go for this City. On the picture below we can see that it is rectangular and about 10 % the size of the whole township. There are two important parts in the Park, one is the swampy part that you can see on the top left of the park , and that we will see in another update up close, and the Piny forest which is almost in the middle of the Park. The Piny forest is considered as the most important part of the park, since it contains plantlifes that have not yet found anywhere else so far.
The round lake is where the first arrivers camped for many years, as we have seen on the early pictures of this CJ. This is called the old town. Mostly wealthy residences surround the lake and from there one road cuts across the park to reach the borderlines on the bottom of the picture. This was allowed by the Administration Office under one condition: No one is allowed to stop his/her vehicule in the Park sector for any reason whatsoever, only to prevent people from stealing rare plants on the side of the road. The whole park is camera surveyed and no one is alllowed inside the park without a special permission.
On the upper right hand side, we have the Barby's Vacation Center and Gentleman's Club and also not to far from there to the left is the LBST and the Maindoor to Genesis, including the Immigration Office. I don't have to tell you where downtown is, at least a part of it.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1Gloryville-GenViewNatPark.jpg align=baseline>

Above the park, more to the south and on top of the hill, are the Barby Vacation Center and the Main door to Genesis, through the LBST (Light Beam Space Traveler). We will have a closer look at Barby's Vacation Center in another update, much later, because there is already too darn many pictures for Gloryville. On the upper right corner you have a glimpse of the Gloryville Scientific College. In the middle on the hill is the LBST Main Entrance. From here people from Uru arrive and will stay for a few days in the hall just in front of it, so all the paperwork for immigration can be done right there and then. From here, many will be moved to the Temporary Housings, until they find a place or a home to live. The housing is free of charge for no  longer than 15 days though.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//2Gloryville-BarbyGenView.jpg align=baseline>

The Gentleman's Club, a part of the Barby Vacation Center lies just above the cliff that overlooks the park down below. It is something like a health and Anti-stress Center, where many High Society folks,Managers, CEO's, big Company Owners,Lawyers and Governors go to relax and forget their stresses of the week. A night with full service costs

I think it's great how you've preserved the natural park. Can you imagine how big Gloryville would be if that space was filled in? But then again, now that Barby and Miss White have passed on...what could happen?

been watching a while, but haven't had a chance to reply since page 2,345 (or was it page 2,344? i get those two confused for some reason), MrB.

just wanted to pop in and once again say what a literary treat this is, as well as visually and Simually...not to mention Nexisually.

keep up the great work. as always, a true inspiration for all other city journals, and one for the rest to attempt to live up.

I've been following this city journal for a long time. I've read it from the beginning to the current place, And let me tell you it's by far the most creative and possibly the best one I've ever seen.

It makes me feel almost ashamed of my city journal .

I wonder if I should even continue it, it's starting to feel so small compared to this and a lot of others on this forum 7.gif

Well, I'm glad that you all like the City sofar...1.gif16.gif

...here is part 5 of 6 of the Capitol Update. Today we will go right into downtown and have a look around.
Again at first , here is an overview of the whole township. The International Airport and the Industrial Park on the top left, in the middle top are the LBST and the Barby's Vacation Center and on the top right is the Gloryville Natural Park, surrounded by a residential area.
On the bottom left we hardly see the Stadium , and then the General Hospital, well known on Genesis. In the middle is downtown, before the Nexis Electronics was finished, and the plaisance harbour, which was emptied for maintenance and cleaning out, and on the bottom right is the Welcome Island and the General Harbour, which does not take any merchandise for up or downloading.

    1Gloryville-GenView.jpg

Here is the same a little closer and from a different view, you can see the Statue on the Welcome Island and the harbour, where two Navy ships are docked at the moment for some shoreleave for the crew. A great look over the downtown area also.

    2GloryvilleGenHarbView.jpg

A view over the downtown with the Nexis Electronics Headquarters on the top right with the Space Station Replica right in the back of it.

    3Gloryville-Downt.Close.jpg

An even closer look of the downtown area with all the windows and cement.

    4Gloryville-Downtownpart.jpg

The Nexis Electronics Headquarters that Troy Nexis just had built some time ago, is the tallest building in Gloryville and the second tallest on Genesis. It is the last Hi-Riser that Brett built, he said when interviewed at the time the building was finished. Brett, now aged at 63 will concentrate himself on his town, Brettville. Nexis Electronics is independant of the Nexis Corporation that his father Vallen owns and Troy's son Jadis is now the CEO of. By the way, Jadis , at the age of only 26 , is the youngest CEO ever to take the head of a Mega Corporation such as this. Jadis is married to the MacVicar's daughter  Sarah as we know, and they had a daughter just some weeks ago. Vallen gave the Corporation into Jadis hands, because his daughter Lyll has her own Mega Company ( Nexis Railways and Nexis Bridges and Tunnels),while Troy Nexis was not interested in this corporation at all. Jadis has been working for the Corporation ever since his 17th birthday, even while continuing to study in the Nexis University in Nexis City.He will be taking care of his grandfathers empire.

    5Gloryville-NexisHQClose.jpg

A look at downtown at night gives us the feel of tranquility. This is the Haliway boulevard down there, the one that starts near the Slayer Inc and finishes in Tenzel Outlet.

    6Gloryville-DowntownCloseNite.jpg

Here is a close look of the Nexis Space Station Replica Museum that Tim once built and Miss Evermind Wellwisher designed. The original is still in the Genesis Orbit and still keeping an eye on the newly founfd Solar system and also the Meteor Opall. The ground station is a museum during the weekends and a school during the week, as you probably remember. This will be moved soon , simply to make room for another H-riser,which are in great demands these days in Gloryville. The Station will be moved to the touristic sector near the Mosaik Stadium.

    7Gloryville-SpaceStn.jpg

Just ouside of the Downtown is the Rilian's Waterworks, which was lately aquired by the Sirius Group. Mr Rilian passed away a couple of weeks ago and since he had no children, the Company was sold. The Sirius group promissed to even modernize the already almost perfect water systems on Genesis. Mr Rilian was burried in the Gloryville Main Cemetary, which we earlier saw. He was 68 years old. May he rest in peace and well remembered for all that he did for the Nexian population.

    8Gloryville-Rilian.jpg

A perfect picture of the newly invented underground railways of Lyll Nexis, shows a train disappearing into the darkness beneath the Downtown.

    9Gloryville-Subentrance.jpg

This picture we already saw more or less, but I wanted it to be shown here also. This is the Mini-Central Park, right in the middle of downtown. It represents the Swamps of the Natural Park that is out north of here. Surprisingly a duck family is nesting here, which of course was on Page One of the Newspaper of the Gloryville Sun.

    10Gloryville-DowntownPark.jpg

Slayer Inc, owned by Mr Slayer (remember his party out at his mansion in Skinner?...ouffff), is the only Big industry that is still allowed to produce in the township of Gloryville. This Mega Company, one of the best customers of the Smurfer Steel Corp, is about able to produce anything now. Mr Slayer just invented an automobile that is absolutely beautiful and practical. A big Factory will soon be build in Tenzel  Outlet, which will hire more than 3000 people. The car will be called the *Slayermobile*. It is non-polluting and economic. We will have a look at the construction site of this factory very soon.
What you see here fenced in within green lines, belongs to the factory. Mr Kevin Slayer is now 64 years old and still lives with his wife Christine in his immense Villa in the Skinner County. His son Steven (29 yo) works at his father's Company as the General Manager at the moment, while he just finished College earlier this year.

    11Gloryville-Slayer.jpg

The well known General Hospital and Laboratory are the best known all over Genesis, and people even from Nexis City and Axis come here to be examined and treated. The Hospital is on a hill that separates the Industrial park with the touristic part of the city.

    12Gloryville-GenHosp.jpg

And a last picture of the waterfront with the watertaxis and the marina that can bring you to the Welcome Island.

    13Gloryville-watertaxi.jpg

Tomorrow we will have a last look at the Capitol of Genesis and then the Next Generation will take over, now that most of them are aged in the teens.

By the way, some of the new Nexis BATs that you have seen in the last 5 updates, will be uploaded to the STEX, but it will take some time. I tried to upload the Grain Elevator an hour ago, but the uploads don't work for the moment.

    See you all soon2.gif
