Shoulder Strap: Laptop Bag or Purse?

YAH NEWS

SIMTROPOLIS - Simtropolis.com webmaster Dirk 'Dirktator' Dashing has come under heavy political debate lately since a controversial picture containing him and legendary video-game designer Will Wright surfaced.

The photograph alledgedly shows the web master sporting a purse, an act heavyly frowned upon in the male dominated video gaming society.

Experts, however, are divided on the subject, some claiming that the strap could just as well be that of a laptop bag, typical wear for an information industry worker such as Mr. Dashings.

"It is very common for webmasters our days to carry laptops around with them, as it allows them to access the internet anywhere it is available, useful in times of crisis such as when an admin goes crazy and he needs to be taken down rapidly before any harm can be done." said Senior Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Webmasters Guild, Gerald Scottson-Frankshire

Others, such as Laney McCallum, owner of an online purse boutique (theultimatepurse.net) argue that Dashings is wearing a purse.

"That is obviously not a laptop bag! Look how thin that strap, it bears a striking ressemblance to our Modern London series of purses, meant for both men and women."

If found guilty, Mr. Dashings could have his integrity undermined, and his honour, destroyed.

Which was what, exactly?

I just kinda came up with that one on the spot. Normally, I would have been profane, but seeing as that wouldn't fly, and saying "what the frick" or something equivalent would sound stupid, I was forced to invent something silly and random instead.

On the topic title again, I'm going to assume "discource" is the southern hemisphere way of spelling "discourse" and not complain about it.

Nah.  It is just my lousy spelling again.

I love brownies. I'll bet those are what Dirk has in his purse in the picture farther up. quote>

Please.  It is a man bag.

Ah, yes, the murse.  "It's European."

Dirk was on the cutting edge of a trend, actually.  And really, why should women be the only ones with a place to keep their stuff?

    I rest my case.

Hmmm, doesn't that cause the money to become a small pile of green pulp?42.gif (or a differently colored pile depending on the object in your wallet)

Anyway, I just stick my papers, like my class schedule, in my pocket, but it doesn't always keep the papers in the best condition...

Maybe stainless steel would be better for a wallet...the heavier yours is, the manlier you are!

This weekend will be two weeks since the "It's Trixie Time" banner was put up...   and most of the basking in Trixie glory is now done...    so...

Methinks that a new banner will not be far away...   I wonder what dirk has in his bag...   41.gif

Actually, I think Dirk is away for the weekend...at a Bannerology Convention.  I heard the theme was, "A Banner Year For Change."  33.gif  Or maybe it was, "A Changing Year For Your Banner."  Anyway, he'll be networking with tons of other Banner Geeks, so this should be good.

I think it's a murse when a real laptop bag would actually work better, and the one you're using actually causes problems. But you know, it looks cooler...

I think "silly and random" works better, for a variety of reasons.

Just because my inner child is a 60s flower child, that doesn't mean I can't have a toaster  3.gif

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Bah! You can't make a cheese grater a logo.

Maybe a cheese grater fighting a toaster or something though...

Hmm... seems that the plot has thickened ol' chaps! Where could this "Megadome" be located? How many Webmasters would be sent to this convention? And what qualifies a banner as "hazardous to the general population"?

    .........

Umm, does that count as a dissertation? did adding "ol' chaps" do anything?

(Yikes, 5 questions in one post? 42.gif Hmm... Well, I do sometimes ramble unnecessarily... 38.gif)

I'm not a chap, but you may be right about "the plot".

I understand the convention is taking place in Podunk.  Dirk knows that your donations support Simtropolis, and wouldn't want to be accused of going on a "junket".  The Megadome in Podunk is really more of a "Microdome" but they've pulled out all the stops and done a bang up job with the activities.  (Yes, there will be pyrotechnics, provided by Three Finger Bob Buranski and the Buranski Brothers Productions.)

How many Webmasters would be sent to this convention?quote>

The Microdome holds around 200, so first come, first served.  Hopefully Dirk makes it in time.

And what qualifies a banner as "hazardous to the general population"?quote>

That might be the "Exploding Banner" contest entry on which Bob and his brothers have worked all year.  Paramedics will be standing by.

.........Umm, does that count as a dissertation?quote>

    Pretty darn close.

did adding "ol' chaps" do anything?quote>

You'll have to ask the chaps.

We allow that on certain occasions as auspicious (suspicious?) as the Bannerology Convention.

BTW, very nice flyer, SWAT.  The original date was in July, but Podunk is rather mosquito prone, so they decided on Valentines Day weekend.  Perhaps some lucky Banner Geek and Geekette will find each other.  36.gif
