The official count is 1,329 nominations.

There are 355 nominations for Custom Content awards.  There are 616 nominations for CJ awards.  The rest are for the other categories.

Less than 2% of the nominations have failed the "sanity check".    We are only considering CJs and BATs that were posted, uploaded, or updated here during 2008.

There are 190 ad-hoc nominations.   Not all of them will be awarded but some of them definitely will be.

The category with the most nominations (64) is Best City Journal.

Some of the categories have clear winners.  Others, not so much.  We are reading those descriptions that most of you did an good job of writing.

Not surprisingly, Craig made the most nominations (55).   Ilikehotdogsalot was close with 48.

(and only 41 of Craig's were ad-hoc.  3.gif )

Just thought you might like to hear about how it's going.quote>

Facinating...   and worth bringing this post over to the next page.

Hotdogs you dark horse!   Haveta keep an eye on you next year...  38.gif

Craig, you scally raggamuffin you 3.gif 55 Ad-Hoc, what are you, worse than the local planing authorities? Or was it, "shoot i cant nominate again in that category and just had to make one up for that person"? That 2 percent fail the sanity check? i though with craigs insanity it would be more like 10% with 99.999% of that craig 3.gif. You should also changed your sig to have "there was a nice banner here but cockatoo's numbers messed up the coding"

Just as soon as all the nominations are counted and the medals are polished. 4.gif There's no set time.. basically, as soon as the admins get all the counting and etc. completed, the awards will be out. 4.gif

Speaking of which... that means a lot of new icons.

Have you guys found someone capable of making transparent GIFs or am I going to have to fix that again?

89 is making the Trixie medals, like he has in previous years.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. 89 is good at transparent medals.  He just missed a few MOTMs in there.   And we thank you, Duke, for helping out with those.

Dirk made the first ones, though, right?quote>

Yes, he did.

This is the 6th year we've done the Trixie awards.  89 took over making the medals when we starting overlapping them, if I recall correctly.

Like everyone who's won a Trixie in two or more different years.

Actually, the medals first showed up in the spring of 2005 - when only '03 and '04 awards were represented. Originally, each individual medal was shown separately as opposed to grouping all the ones from the same year together. As such:

itrixie023qs1.gif

The '05 awards were done and this continued. A bit later, however, it was realized that this could start to become cumbersome as more years passed and people earned more and more awards, and so the medals were redone into their current form in mid-2006:

itrixie003qs2.gifitrixie03mg7.gif

A bit later on, the icons became clickable (originally they were not).

In '05, the icons for all combinations of up to 3 awards per year were made prior to the nominations being counted, plus some of the combinations involving 4 awards (that's over 64 icons). Then someone (simgoober?) won 6 '05 awards and found himself iconless for a bit while the staff scrambled to make one. Realizing the number of possible combinations would soon be too many (allowing up to 4 awards in 4 different years is 54 or 625 different combinations), starting in '06 the icons were held off until the counting was done and only the necessary ones were made.

The initial debut of the icons was also the debut of the "Trixie Winner 200X" labels. A shift in policy later took place in this department, though. After the '05 awards someone ended up with the label "Trixie Winner 2004 & 2005" (I think it was Jerseydevil73). Again, realizing this could become cumbersome, the labelling policy changed. After the '07 awards there were people with the label "Trixie Winner 2007" that also had won awards in 2006 or some other prior year. The new policy was to list only the most recent year a Trixie was won rather than all of them in the text of the label.

Thanks, Duke.   I figured you would explain it.   I suspect the word "policy" is too formal.  It's more like going with what works best as the times change.

Porter!  You're distracting Zel!    We are having a Trixie meeting here.

I assure you they are not coming out tomorrow.

If I had to pick a percentage, I'd say about 70% done.

but don't quote me on that.

I quoted you on that.  3.gif

Good luck finishing up the 2008 Trixie Awards nomination ballots.  I'm sure when you're done with that you will then start preparing all the grunt work needed for the presentations, descriptions and the awards themselves.

All the best with that,

-Haljackey

That's actually a fair bit ahead of where I'd thought we'd be by now. I was expecting the awards to be up at the end of next week - as that's about how long it took last time, 13 days if I'm not mistaken. We'll say 14 days this time as there were a few more nominations. If nominations closed on the 19th, I predict the award ceremony for the 2nd of February ... if Skigeek is on the ball with 70%, then we can expect the awards up on the 26 -27th depending on your timezone - (roughly 2 moar days.)
