What I still cannot figure out is how to place BuddyBud's ramp covers UNDER the bridge. Even turning them around a few times does not seem to do it????

Yeah indeed the new slope looks better 9.gif I like it this way!. I have an idea for another thing that could be done. A straight tunnel entrance, like the glr->subway hillside transition:

Hillside_GLR_to_subway_1.jpg

That way it woulbe be possible to make non-straight tunnels, aswell as get an additional tunnel entrance, without any  modding 4.gif What do you think?

questions.jpgFinally: success! Hah! Battlecat's additions to SimGobber's canals (and of course Swamper77's remote tutoring produced the first result! Now, all I got to find out is if there is a set of Pegasus' industrial wharf pieces which also has overhanging lots - any suggestions, anyone?? I took the liberty of downloading one of BB's images, and return portion of it: with questions. 1. How does one get the sunken highway walls (?) under the bridge?? 2. How is it the bridge appears to be built over the PEG lot? 3. Which of the industrial PEG lots can be used - is there a special set? A filename or link, perchance? BTW: did anyone ever come up with a custom bridge? One which could, for example, take two rail tracks (ergo, 4 spurs) at the same time?

Originally posted by: buddybud no really handsoff...hover the lot next to the bridge and rotate it before you plop it... rotate it to the proper position. i think its the page up and page down buttons to rotate. ignore me...lol read below to see which keysquote>

@HandsOff:

1. You are seeing a rock texture from a rock mod in this location. There aren't any lots there. I think one of PEG's rock mods is in use here. When the terrain is steep enough, it will look like a cliff and the rock texture will show.

2. & 3. PEG's CDK-IND set was used here and it is the combination of two lots you see here. They are PEG's CDK-IND Transition Lots. The lots are found in this file: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=11583. There are only two files in this set. They are for transitioning between the CDK-IND set and PEG's CDK-IND Warehouse and Navy lots. The warehouse and the Navy lots are 4 tiles deep while most of the CDK-IND set are 2 tiles deep.

Thanx, Swamper77; I "knew" I was missing something, because I could get some of the red-brick recreational corner lots under, but they never looked right, and this is zooo much better..

if this is what you want to know i can help ya though its only in testing as of now.

ill pm you the modding technique if your interested. anybody for that matter.

Hey BB my friend. Yes can you PM me this technique please? I have been able to light "extender" props only by placing the props (in LE) at least 2 meters from each edge of the lot. I haven't been able to place an extender prop (a prop that extends beyond the lot) beyond the lots borders and get it to light. I hope I'm making sense47.gif. BTW Your work is very well done my friend. I'm a big fan.44.gif

i changed the incline for the 1x1 but left 6m clearence.

fixed the lods, added paths darkened the road texture and dimmed the lights.

well it certainly looks fine to me.. J's lot is annoying bacause its only a street.. I don't know why a city would spend the bux for an expensive underpass on a low usage street.. glad to see you're "taking it to the next level".. GOOD WORK!

grungy..... i love it, fantastic work yet again...

btw, i'm a little slow on the ball with those rural walls you put out, but i downloaded them today and they make for a fantastic viaduct through an industrial area, i know thats not the intended purpose, but still looks pretty fine to me... great work

    buddybud-

Every time I fire up this thread, I feel like I'm walking into Einstein's office at Princeton.  This is such fully realized stuff, I can't help thinking, like John (Darmok), you are actually eight or nine people working together.

These underpasses will have a huge impact on cityscapes all across ST- it's getting harder and harder to wait patiently.

heres a some shots to show how functional these lots can be.

at one end we have an avenue underpass and at the other two one ways.

evening and morning traffic then shown.

i was surprised myself at how well it worked.

The one-way versions look great. I think the avenue version needs to be a tile longer. It just doesn't sit right. Aside from that it's great. Nothing about the style needs to be changed, as it fits in rather well.

Actually, I was just the other day building the Lindisfarne CBD bypass (CJ coming soonish. The city's fictional but I borrowed the name from a suburb of Hobart. because it was quite unique.) and was thinking that an avenue version of something like blahdy's lots was needed. This, I think fits the bill.

I am still reading though, however most of the things you see under bridges here are either shops or rivers and valleys, so will you be making a sort of natural selection of items that can go under the bridge?
