Heh, its always nice to drop by and check out how Halifax, Nebraska is developing. Nice job Greekman! I like the creative use of GLR! Cool airport too!

One suggestion I have is to space out your highway interchanges a bit more. It would look more realistic if you did.

Best,

-Haljackey

Here is the new and improved:

    heraldvr4.jpg

Ok now I think I should add a border around it the next time. Anyway I will have part 2 of downtown Monday after school around 2 PM Pacific time. But I have to eat my Subway sandwich first after my 12:30 dismissal. Until then see you later!

Remember this: 49.gif plus many more of this 49.gif equals this 9.gif

Nice newspaper! Way to integrate other CJs into yours.

Also I take it the Scotiabank story means that Scotiabank is going into that new tower, and not HP.

Your downtown looks great. I like all the proposals and construction going on. Looks like that airport is causing an economic boom in Halifax. I can't say I'm all too surprised to see the mayor is getting a new office, but what do the tax payers think of city hall's expansion? I can't wait to see downtown when it's all said and done. BTW, I am definitely getting many ideas for future projects from your CJ. Keep up the good work!

Update 12- Downtown Renovations: Part 2 of 2

With the recent expansion of homes and the construction of the new airport, downtown Halifax has been revitalized. If one saw Halifax before the boom, they would surely wonder if this was Halifax after the recent construction boom. the city must have paid $500 million for all of these improvements. The construction of the buildings (except City Hall and nearby government buildings) were built without taxpyers' money. (Who ever built a building like the Bank of Halifax, they built it with their own money). If the founding fathers saw Halifax today they would be proud!

    downtownon4.jpg

Our tour begins at the newly accomplished Alliance Plaza. If you didn't know Halifax is a member of the Alliance of Fuel and Developing and Exporting States. The building to the left of the plaza is an embassy for all the members. So the represenatives of Flint or any other member, can eat lucnh in the shady plaza and maybe go to the mall next door.

    allianceplazabj5.jpg

The Halifax Mall is every shoppers dream. This os one of the largest malls in the city! To the right of the mall will be future residential buildings.

    malljy3.jpg

The Bank of Halifax built a huge building at the corners of Broadway and Market St. The bank is pround to have a fine building like that, wouldn't you agree?  On the upper levels, where the transmiter is located, is the location for the nations' newest economic finacial TV program. The new station is simialr to Bloomberg TV in New York.

    bankofhalifaxez3.jpg

Next to the renamed Scotiabank Arena, is the newly built, Virgin Shores National Bank. The  VSNB is the third largest bank in the region and is the regional headquarters for the Halifax region. The bank also shares the building with IKON.

    bankofflintxm9.jpg

Also next to Scotiabank is the newly built hotel, Embassy Suites, built by Lunchbox INTL, Holdings Inc. The new hotel has 1,235 rooms making it the largest hotel in the region! the hotel also has a bonus: whitch is being next to a parking garage.

    embassysuitesmr2.jpg

Along Broadway is Metro Hall. Metro Hall serves as the Municipality of Metropolitan Halifax and its employees. Metro Hall serves the metro area with numerous services like: Greater Halifax Regional Transportion, Regional Airport Adminstration, Regional Growth, Planning, and Development, and a few others.

    metrohallnu7.jpg

Also located at Metro Hall is the newly formed corporation called CCDC or Center City Develpment Corportation. The CCDC will spearhead all Downtown renovations instead of City Hall. Below is the logo for the new corporation:

    CentreCityDevelopmentCorporation-1.jpg

Below is just a shot of the finacial district. You can see some of the new buildings in the heart of downtown:

    closeupofdowntownpo6.jpg

The new Scotiabank which fought over HP for the building. HP and Scotiabank are not very friendly to each other after the "battle" for the build.  Scotiabank has 4,500 emplyees in their building.

    scotiabankig1.jpg

And finally. the moment you have been waiting for. Drum roll please........

Presenting the new City Hall Complex!!! Give it up for City Hall!

    cityhallcomplexqz7.jpg

The Metro station in the middle will serve as a main trnsit hub for future subway lines. It is expected that the City Hall Transfer Station will bring in tens of thousands of people into the area every day!

And here a view of some of the new government buildings: (Isn't this a cool picture???)

And finally here is a overview of downtown and the surrounding areas:

I am back.  Ooh, good, that renovation except the gov buildings was built without taxpayers' money.  I approve!  So glad you like my sig banner.  Ooo, a mall!  I like this too!  I must go shopping here.  The Embassy Suites hotel looks kinda weird.  Is it actually BATted like that?  Looks like a glenni building lol.  I like the W2W beside it.  The overview is highly impressive, if not a bit griddy at times. However, it looks very well-planned.

That downtown is very impressive. The only things I would work on are your transitions from downtown to medium density development and also your interchanges, which have a lot of weaving.

    A MODEST PROPOSAL

Hello! I have a few proposals that I would like to share with you. You can make the desision of what you want:

    A) Have 26 updates of Suburban Halifax with some farms in some of these posts. There would be 26(a-z) posts and this would be a first for Simtropolis! I am afraid that people would get bored will 26 updates og suburban Halifax.

    B) Have 26 updates but have them incraments of 5 updates so for example:

    5 suburban updates then

    building Fairfax

    5 suburban updates then

    building York

    so on  and so forth

    C) Quit this CJ and leave ST altogether!  3.gif

So you have two choices A or B. C is a little joke..hehe

If  you have any other proposes tell me because i am somewhat runnning out of ideas!

You continue to outdo yourself. How long have you been playing this game? I've been playing some version of SC since the mid nineties... and I can never seem to achieve the level of realism that you have here. Well done.
