These days (i work with coputers) memory prices are dropping so much its not uncommen to find 4Gb+ systems, and over the last few months I have been setting up 64Bit Vista and I must say it is very solid and stable. Taking full advantage of a 64bit vista multi proccessor system will be great.

I do find it very anoying how most game developers try to make the game run on whats popular without giving the game the ability to improve on us hardcore guys with massive rigs. SC4 for example runs ok on an average system runs great on a Core 2 3GbRAM system, but thats it. thats the ceiling. It won't fully utilise more than 2Gb RAM due to being 32bit and does not utilise a quad or 6 core system.quote>

Wait just a minute. So they might not make a a 64 bit compatible version first when the game is released?

No, we will make a game that will be 64bit compatible but we don't think we'll make a dedicated version for 64bit systems. 4.gif

What I've got:

Athlon 64

1 GB of Ram

ATI X800XL 256MB Card

Purchased this machine in 2005

What I WANT: At least- 4.gif

Quad Core

4GB Ram (8GB if I can)

Nvidia 9800 GTX 512 MB Card

My wife and I have $1000 saved right now. Don't know if I'll be able to use much of that for a PC. I may have to wait until sometime next year. Or, settle for something a bit more toned down.

www.newegg.com will take your $1000 bucks a pretty long way. Im getting a Dual-Core AMD cpu, 4GB ram, an ATI HD4670, and a good mobo, PSU, and CD/DVD burner for under $400. That 9800 GTX will eat a good chunk out of your budget though. Your current config should be able to at least play it.

Personally I hope they make it very demanding as thats how it looks.

Sort of like Flight Simulator X. You can still play that game if you have a regular computer. But if you have a computer like mine you can max most options. Why limit a game. Just make the graphic options available for all PCs.

Yeah MewEgg is the way to go. Im gonna build myself a little something for this....looking at a intel duo 3.16 6mg cache with 8 gigs of ddr3 and a 8hundred and something or other video card. They also have some nice hard drives on there. One of them is just under 200 gigs (i save my picts, vids under external so not issue) that runs at 15000 rpms with a 16 mb cashe at a great price.

I have a 2.8GHz Pentium D with 3GB ram, so no problem there. And I can play Flight Sim X smoothly and with decent graphics on my eVGA 6800GS 256MB card.

But I think I will plan on at least a 9800GT for CXL.

Looks like a great game. Seems like what Sim City 5 should have been, instead of SCS.

I own a bfg 260 GTX 216 OC and may return it for a 280 GTX 240 OC cause I found out there's an 8 pin substitute that comes with it. I was questioning about it before the buy and found out later during the install. Maybe wait until Galaxy releases a 9800 GTX+ that supports 1 gig of bandwith memory..something they should've done in the first place.

Haha - this thread is sloooowly turning into one of those threads you frequently see at Crysis forums, where people brag about how much they have tweaked their computer and how much it costs and blablabla... This forum is a welcome change 2.gif

But beware people, just because you can run SC4 smoothly doesn't mean newer games will work great... SC4 ran fine on my old computer with 256 mb ram, Pentium 3 processor and integrated graphics card with 32 mbs of memory... hehe.

I agree with you on that one!..haha... Newer games are asking for more now. (processor, RAM, etc, since we have the technology the more compact things get. Like laptops, I beginning to see more and more laptop that can run super high end games...

Yeah I dunno man, something tells me you are going overboard. And its not making the rest of the people on this board with lower specs feel good about their chances. As far as I can tell, the game looks good, but I don't think an XFX GTX 280 is at all necessary. I have an NVidia GeForce 9650M GT and I'm really confident that I can run it, in fact I'm confident much softer cards will be able to run this game. I mean this isn't Crysis. At least I hope not.

I think that's a bit to low.. The graphics card is really old.. I don't think that you will be able to run it smoothly ... maybe at lowest graphics.

I had a PC with slightly worse specs a few years back, it could barely run SC4 smoothly, never mind something like Cities XL. If you upgrade your card to a cheapo 7800 or something similar you'll probably be able to run it on lowish settings.

I just got myself 4GB RAM, along with the 1.9 GHZ Dual Core and Nvidia 9500GT it should be enough 39.gif

Has anyone found a review of a BFG 9800 GTX PLUS that's Overclocked with 1GB DDR3. I just bought this card for $212 two days ago and can't find even a YouTube video on it.

I bought this (built) PC a year ago. Here are the specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.31Ghz

2Gb RAM

Nvidia GeForce 8500GT 512Mb

and it only cost around $300 then but only costs about $200 now. And to think that I live in the philippines. Computers here a little more expansive due to it being imported and stuff.

My guesses will probably be pentium 4(3.0ghz) dual core highly recommended will be minimal requirement with atleast directx 9.0 or higher graphics card. Ram will definately be 1.5gb or more (Vista & 7) and XP 1 Gb ram or more. This game will be close to lines within sims 3 requirements.

Testing other games like Wrath of Lich King and Battlefield Heroes (current) requirements can't be figured until close to finish product(due to things can change)

One thing this game should take advantage of though is multi core (1 core for traffic(pathfinding), 1 core for economic simulation, demand etc... and so forth).

My pc spec for anyone who wants to know are below

CPU: Core i7 920

Motherbaord: ASUS P6T

Sound Card: Creative XFI Xtreme Gamer Professional Fatality Series

Ram: 6GB ddr3 1600mhz OCZ 7-7-7-20

Main HD: Western Digital Velocity Rapotor 300GB 10000RPM

Video Card: Geforce GTX260 Core 216 896MB
