That's odd... Seems like I have a taste of buildings. 3.gif Since supercity's request is still denied am I able to snatch his headquarter spot to put my building there. It seems to be a perfect spot.

supercity, its not that I don't like the development, just that the building's taken by un1. I am trying to encourage growth outside of the city center though.

un1: Yes, I suppose you could put the building there.

DTP, can you post a picture of the entire city of Virgin Shores??, So I could start proposing areas to develop around the city.

Wow, some very interesting developments happening here... I like it!

    DTP:  About the Photobucket comment:

-You can actually upload a picture of any resolution to Photobucket... That's why I like the site!  All you have to do is change the 1024x768 to 1MB in size.  You should find this right below the upload images and video icon on your My Albums page.

It is because of this that I am able to host 1920x1200 images on the site with ease, and that's why I love the site!  As long as your images are 1MB or less, you shouldn't have a problem uploading your full resolution images which are 1280x1024.

Anyways, I hope this makes sense to you!  I expect to see real full resolution pictures in your next update!

-If you have any more questions, feel free to send me a PM!

    Best,

    -Haljackey

TimeMaster: Your proposal looks good. If you could point out a 1 x 2 school, I see no problem with it.

DTP: By the way, where did you get those diagonal sound walls? I'd like to get them.

    dtp-

First off, congrats on 1,000 comments.  That kind of readership is well-deserved by this excellent CJ.

I was pretty much blown away by all the work you so apparently put into your 1,000th Post Bash update.  It's great to see the level of detail you are reaching- I'm looking forward to looking at freeway plans at the regional level at some point.

    Yeah, I'm a fan.

    David

JJC12321: Whatever you want, Mr. 1000.

supercity124: As I said yesterday, it'll be in the next update.

TimeMaster: Umm... the size you marked off for that school is 1x2. That's an awful small school! The area's good though, and I can move one building across the roundabout and they'll fit.

Haljackey: I know. I've done that before to upload stuff, but those pictures from the last update were, for the most part, about 1.2 MB even as JPEGs, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

I'm thinking I might use imageshack (*shudder*) if I need to upload a larger pic that I can't reduce for some reason, but big map images I use gmap uploader for, as there is no size limit.

I'll see what I can do to get them under a meg for next update though, so you should be able to see them in real full resolution.

Patricius Maximus: They're right here on the STEX. They're my favorite set, as they look up-close exactly like the walls along here. They're available in 6 different styles, each with a complete diagonal/orthagonal set of lots, and then there are identical sets of "Wavy Walls" too. It's a really good set.

    TimeMaster: Nope only 3 tiles.

David (dedgren): Wow! Nice to see you posting here.

    Thanks. Glad you think so.

Well first the rest of the region has to be established! 18.gif But there will be eventually.

Glad to hear that! Be seeing you around then?

un1: following the mayor's final approval, I can also fully approve your proposal

Archean: I'm very pleased you decided to re-submit your proposal.  I agree with the general concensus that  building 1 is the better of the three. Construction approved. The building looks very generic, and cheap, so when Virgin Shores does eventually go skywards, you will have a prime space to re-develop.

Ntq$310: Bank headquraters: Like above, I'm happy you've re-evaluated your plans.  I like the first one better.  I think it has more character.  I think it will be a great addition to Virgin Shores' lowrise skyline.  I think it's probably my favourite building of all those proposed so far.  I think I may open an account!  Approved

TimeMaster:  I don't have any objections to the building's you've chosen for the new Health & Education buildings in Oilville, so final approval is between you and the mayor.

Ntq$310: Oilville Expansion: That certainly is doubling the size of Oilville!  For that reason, i'd suggest we phase in those three housing developments over time, perhaps 1 per update beginning with the one on the left, then the right and finally the lower.  The commercial zones are fine, although the one on the left wil have to be moved if TimeMaster's Health & Education plan is actioned according to his current proposal.  I suggest moving it west to the other side of the road.

Supercity124: Your proposal has already met objection from the mayor, and I agree.  We can't have the same iconic building built twice.  Please look for another and i'll be happy to consider it.  Also, beware of proposing the demolition of existing buildings & roads, and re-zoning areas.  Virgin Shores currently has no need to reorder any existing developments.  Correct me if i'm wrong DTP, but I think the only acceptable types of re-development will be replacing unclaimed, zoned land with custom plops and maybe civic buildings.  Rejected - pending revision

It might be a good idea to relocate the residential areas in the centre of town into the suburbs once the city grows, but that's still a long way off, and there's no guarantee that developments will keep the CBD in it's current location.

Ntq$310/Snoopy235: Dorito Island:  I'm a little confused with this one.  Snoopy235 oriinally requested to develop this island with a mansion and a small commercial plot.  We've glossed over that proposal a little, but in the meantime Ntq$310 has steaked a claim on the land.  DTP, can you confirm who you want to grant the land to?

In the general direction of Mayor Deathtopumpkins: Maybe if Snoopy235 wants to propose a more detailed plan, we can have our first planning competition!  New developments are often contested by several potential developers before being accepted.  It helps to improve quality and ambition if there is competition for a development.

I will say now though that your proposal, Ntq$310, is a nice one, and would take some beating.  The mayor has informed me however, that a bridge might be more suitable for the island... cue PatriciusMaximus.  There has also been a whisper that the city might want to make the island a park reserve.  Proposal halted until Mayoral decisions have been made

Lol psander5, you can create the biggest account in the bank if you want 9.gif And thanks for approving it,  now i have no prefrence for location, anything workes for me, though somewhere in a more downtown area is nice.

And i completly agree with phases for the development, like hampi's, besides it better overtime 2.gif

And thanks for the compliment about my proposal, a bridge is intresting, it somewhat lossens the tourist island feel though, but then again a low rising brige can add to it too. I enjoy the competion.

    IT'S ALIVE!

The DWR has finished Hawk Island, although the location doesn't appear to be sutiable for shipping and so we ask for alternative locations before the plans are finalized

It's truely amazing what you guys have done in the past two weeks! I still trying to comprend all the recent devolpments including *gasp* a second tile!

In response to the Dorito Island proposals, if Ntq$310's plan is accepted, the DOT will build a bridge from Dorito Island to the main city. Style of the bridge has not been determined, as it's construction is uncertain as of now.

QUESTION: Isn't Dorito Island a little small to build a bridge to? Unless you're going to expand it , I don't even build on islands that small.

hmmm it's eathier ferry connection or bridge, depending on expected traffic a bridge may be good, and much easier, but a ferry serves the prupose , espically to that small of a island. It's dots and dtps decions.

About Dorito Island, I can neither confirm, nor deny the rumors of it turning into a park reserve.

Supercity124: As far as the DOT elements, the proposal will have to be revised.

The DOT has no problem with Supercity's layout of roads in his plan.

The diamond interchanges will have to be modified into a double diamond interchange to prevent weaving on Highway 2. Here is a diagram of the interchange:

    30413193dx5.png

With Supercity's permission this revision can be adopted.

Also, some of your blocks of zoning is in violation of City Ordinance 1.a (the zoning codes). If some of the offending zones can be converted into parks, then that would be good. Not only will it be legal, it will create park space for the citizens.

Lastly, you need to learn more about the RHW. The diamond interchanges in your proposal match the profile of Maxis diamonds. NAM Overpasses need to be built, which take up 3 tiles on the flank of the freeway. Then the MIS ramps need to be included.

Other than these points, no problem exists with Supercity's plan that I can see.

Psander5 will have to review it next.

Maybe even we could do a passenger ferry and set up a small ped trail to maximize the usage of the limited space.

I like the idea of the converted diamond interchange.

If you wanted ot over do it you could do the whole RHW-8 then do a whole bunchh of stuff and end up with one whole tile to zone. But thats not what Virgin Shores does.

hmmm that's a intresting proposal, im very happy with dot's changes, but i remember dtp saying that virgin shores has a good sized job overplus, so i think it would be better if we had less job zones, and more residential zones.

I've actually got something new for you today: The newest update of the Atlas! As usual, in Gmap format.

    replybanner.jpg

    Planning Committee assessments:

un1: WIll be completed for update 21.

Archean: Will be completed for update 21.

Ntq$310: Will be completed for update 21.

TimeMaster: I approve of them, and they will be completed for update 21.

Ntq$310: Stages do sound good, so stage 1 will be completed for update 21.

supercity: Psander5 summed up the city's thoughts on redevelopment perfectly. There is suitable space around the eastern terminus of VS-2 in that fancy new commercial development if you decided to choose a new building.

Dorito Island: I like the sound of a competition, so I'm going to ask each developer to submit a detailed proposal, and we'll vote on it tomorrow. Until which time I am granting the land to neither. Also as an option in the poll I'll include making it a Park Reserve.

Remember, I'll be expecting a proposal from both of you. May the better developer win.

    Ntq$310: I'll find a place for it.

Well I just don't like to use ferries for anything but medium-to-long distances, which the route to Doritio Island isn't. If you guys want, I could even just build a causeway out to it.

    un1: There'll be a demand graph. 2.gif

    jacqulina: Thanks.

sim-Al2: He's alive! Where have you been these past weeks? I had to exempt your position from the last two elections because you were gone.

Glad to hear Hawk Island's done, but what do you mean the location? It's staying on that island!

And that second tile contains Hawk Island, so hurry up and get me plans...

Patricius Maximus: How's a causeway sound instead?

sedimenjerry: I haven't even gotten there yet! And there is no page 38 yet. We're still on 37.

    Ntq$310: I think that's a little too old-world European for VS...

    Again, causeway anyone?

    sim-Al2: Causeway... causeway...

    Ntq$310: Or a causeway...

    Causeway! 35.gif 49.gif

supercity: That actually looks pretty good 44.gif but you'll need to submit an appeal to the Planning Committee about the industrial, and there will be some problems with zones too close together. The stuff in my sig might be a helpful read...

crazyarchitect: Thats right... neither confirm nor deny...

Patricius Maximus: I think your exit ramp layout looks fine, but for the overpasses, I think I'll build it up on an embankment with on-slope pieces for the overpasses. How's that sound?

supercity: OK then, just give me the OK on what I just said to the DOT.

sedimenjerry: Or a causeway... come on people! At least consider it!

At this time there is no RHW8, so you don't have to worry about me overdoing it.

Ntq$310: True, but I'm always here to fill in the demand with proposals of my own. Also, it's impossible for me to accurately say what the demand situation is at this time, as there are still several developments from last update pending occupation.

Archean: Might want to change your sig. Maximum of 1 image @ 300x50.

It's not ploppable? Didn't you know every building you give me must be ploppable? 3.gif

I've been really busy, but I'll try to satisfy some of these developments soon.
