Well, the memorial is now officaly going to be Wendsnesday. Due to a flash flood that rendered a RHW-2

bridge useless. Buses, cars, trucks, and my car has to take a 6-hour detour. Extent of the flooding is shown

below. Plus it'll give DTP time to clear the land for the outdoor amphitier.

Alright! As said, I will allow the location to be up to you guys. I am fine with being close to the new development.

I will get started on composing a roster of buses and routes once hopefully tonight (I'm working on starting my own City too, so i'll see how it goes). For routes, I will base it off of the current road map that DTP has posted on Google Maps. For busses, I know this is going to sound geeky but I do know a lot on buses so I'll make a roster of all the busses we operate and stuff.

I do have a question. If at all possible, I'd like to know the student count per school in Virgin Shores. If wanted, we can service Oilville too, however to my understanding at the present time, Oilville does not have a school system set up.

(Also, the Reply Dialouge Box is messing up for me also, y'all are not alone!)

Education System Pending by VSDOH&E. The School Bus System is fine, but can't it be like the School Board HQ or something? I.E. Do we need to have a buildings for the Bus Committee before building a general office for the school board? I am thinking about it, and I think that it could help, but might not be necessary. We have a bus system but do we need a Headquarters? I will have a resolution soon.

That is completely up to you. The School Bus Contracting Service System that I am proposing, it's not just for schools, we also service for conventions, day trips, charters, parking lot shuttles, etc. Although we serve the school routes of VS, unlike a Board Owned school bus service, we also rent the buses for charter events and trips/ shuttling, etc.

However, if this is not agreeable, I can take it up and do the Bus Committee of Virgin Shores (instead of a private contracting service) and work with the city buses also. It's up to DTP and the planning committee.

Oops... heehee. Sorry guys, I forgot to put the poll up!

And I hope to post update 21 tonight.

    replybanner.jpg

sedimenjerry: That's because it wasn't up yet. It will be now.

psander5: Good. It shall be built then.

    Sorry, it's up now.

I saw. Yep. Good old ST!

    Hampi: I'm working on it.

Matthew: There's no way I'll be able to post anything about it this week. Sorry, but you're either going to have to wait or just pretend that it was held in VS.

    Jake: Good.

I'll be waiting to hear the details.

I guess I could put that in update 22. And as of update 21, Oilville will have a public elementary school, but above 5th grade students are bussed to Hampus High.

Ntq$310: Thanks for the updated proposal.

TimeMaster: Then I guess I can go ahead and find a city hall, which would contain a School Board office. And to have a school bus system a maintenance facility is necessary.

    crazyarchitect: It's fine.

GreekMan: The usual honors await you...

Jake: It would be kinda nice to have something substantial to use for the city busses too, so could your company do both?

Ntq$310: Or whatever he decides to name it.

It is! I meant not necessary at this point! So, I think that the Speedy Bus Systems services City Buses, Shuttle Buses and School Buses... then it would be fine to have an office of yours for that. Pending Education Development Approved by the Virgin Shores Department of Health and Education. Also, the construction is finished for the Oilville School System.

    Memo to Dept. of Planning:

I would like to propose an expansion of the Oak Grove development southward towards the resort area(residential of course).  Plus as Dept of Recreation, I'm proposing some public pools for the city.

    link to pools

I would like to place them in Oak Grove, Hampi's North,& Patricius development.

    Thanks,

No problem. I can do all three, and I've done all three in the past. (through other Simcity Cities). Take your time with the development, I don't want to rush things. Sorry, no more details tonight (I didn't even get to work on my town! waah!) but hopefully I'll have some concrete details by Thursday or Friday.

well, this is just my opinion, but if the bus service is built, then the city shuttle ordinance should be implied (if not already)

and ericlewis91 what plant, i don't see any on the stex right now. (p.s. Go pepsi better than coke:-)]

    IT'S UPDATE TIME!!!

All images linked to a 1024x819 version at full quality. I was unable to keep them at full resolution (1280x1024) due to file size (couldn't get them under a meg for photobucket), but the linked versions are still full quality.

    First of all,

    2118Fallcolors.jpg

It's finally complete! There is a full set of trails, along with a full-service campsite and general store, and a scenic overlook over the spring itself.

    The scenic overlook:

    213ParkReserveOverlook.jpg

It is accessible by car, but the rest of the Reserve is not, so there is ample parking.

A short walk down the trail from the overlook and parking lot is the main campground. The camp is accessible by car in the event of an emergency, as it's along a road, but you are expected to park and walk to it.

    214ParkReserveCampgrounds.jpg

There is another general store located by itself out near the farms, but there is a trail out back that connects it with the rest of the Reserve.

    215ParkReserveGeneralStore.jpg

    Lastly, here's an overview:

    216ParkReserveOveview.jpg

Now that we've seen the natural beauty Virgin Shores was established knowing, let's hop into our car and drive up through town. We turn left out of the Reserve onto Park Reserve Drive, and head past a recently built development courtesy of Hampi.

    212HampisNewDevelopment.jpg

Note the walking trail that winds behind the houses. I expanded the park originally in the proposal for the trail, and it is being co-sponsored by the Southside/Oak Grove Emergency Care Clinic, which it ends at along New Sibelus Ln.

Continuing on, we turn onto Main St. to cross the little arch bridge, and drive all the way up past sim-Al2's construction company.

There, on the corner, we find another of Hampi's properties, a coffee shop, plus a whole lot of Waffle Kings! 18.gif

    2117Hampisothercoffeeshop.jpg

Driving a little farther north, we notice that the Coast Highway is now lined with trees along the right side, which may block much of the view of the water, but it does a lot for the jaggedness of the edge of the road, as it has a fence and transparent base texture on the other side.

    2116TreeLinealongCoastHwy.jpg

Proceeding into Oilville, we cross the county line and see some new signage along the road (courtesy of the 3RRDOT—thanks again David and Ryan!), plus we notice that the traffic has gotten heavier coming the other way, which is odd, considering it's evening. I guess some people are starting to commute TO OIlville in addition to from it.

    2124RoadSignsandReverseCommute.jpg

Heading into town, we pass some new houses sloping down to the water on our right, and the highway on our left. Up ahead is Lunchbox International Holdings's latest property, a Super 8 Motel.

    2121Super8Motel.jpg

Arriving in town, we are glad to see that Oilville has it's own Elementary School and Medical Clinic now, as that means no longer bussing some kids to the main elementary school.

    2123OilvilleSchoolandClinic.jpg

There are a few more developments to the west,

    2122NewWesternDevelopment.jpg

but we'll stay the night at the Super 8.

    Overview:

    2125OilvilleOverview.jpg

The next morning, we hop on VS-1 to head back into town, and then switch to highway 2, where we notice the growth of some new weeds along the ramp.

    211Weeds.jpg

[as seen on Show Us Your Interchanges and Show Us Your Intersections]

What do you guys think of the weeds?

Highway 2 has recently been reconstructed, to accomodate an interesting interchange built for Supercity124's development.

Here's the west end of the interchange:

    2114VS-2SupercityExitWEST.jpg

A block later the highway crosses another road and comes back down to ground level, right before transitioning into Franklin St.

    2113VS-2SupercityExit.jpg

The end of the highway is an up-and-coming commercial district (suffering from a lack of demand at the moment), and is home to the regional headquarters of FollOil, Inc., as well as an office building belonging to un1.

    2115un1andArcheansbuildings.jpg

Heading down into Supercity's development, we come across some industry with a park acting as a buffer between it and the nearby residential.

    2112MainSupercityDevelopment.jpg

Just west of those houses is a new shopping center and Costco. Here's the construction site:

    2110ShoppingCenterUnderConstruction.jpg

And here's the finished shot, along with a proposal I'm submitting to the DOT. Basically it just entails widening Frontier Rd. to an avenue, as that intersection now carries about 400 cars an hour, making it I believe the busiest intersection in the city.

    2111AvenueProposalandCompleteShoppi.jpg

Just west of there is more housing courtesy of supercity124.

    219Supercity124swesterndevelopment.jpg

Finally, a little farther down VS-1, a new interchange has been constructed, Exit 1, which provides better access to surrounding farms.

    218Exit1close-up.jpg

And a zoomed-out shot of the farms,

    217VS-1Exit1.jpg

Zooming out a little farther, here's the requested overview:

    2120Overview.jpg

Please, click on it. Viewing it at 800x600 really doesn't do it justice.

And now, I believe a demand graph was requested? (Two cities in order)

    2119DemandGraph.jpg

    2126OilvilleDemandGraph.jpg

And finally, the new edition of the map is here!

    AtlasIssue2.jpg

    [click for gmap]

You'll notice several changes on the map. First, there's the new roads for the new developments, then there's the avenue upgrade proposal, and finally you'll notice the new National Routes. These are only proposed, and are just an idea I had. Patricius, I'm leaving the final decision on them up to the DOT. What do you think? Then can be changed. Also, I used the NC state route herald as a template (recognize NC-12 anyone? 3.gif 2.gifand stole the font from various state route heralds.

Finally, vote on Dorito Island guys! We've only got one vote!

Update 22 (with all recent proposals) is coming soon...

    I'll do replies tomorow...

    STsigbannerDOT.jpg

So much to comment on... The DOT is busy these days...

The DOT is very pleased with the double diamond. It looks better than expected, again.

Oilville looks nice. It's developing into another city centre.

I like the weeds, but I'd advise demolishing some of the water closest to the highway, so more beautification can be added 2.gif.

Wow, Franklin Street's developments have grown. I almost feel like it's my little area (well, not really, but I was the first 1.gif).

The DOT approves of the pedestrian trails. Not only do they add character to the city, they give people an alternative to driving, and makes it easier to exercise.

The DOT approves the Mayor's proposal to widen Frontier Road.

supercity's housing looks good, just add some more stuff between it and Highway 1 and it'll look perfect.

    Exit 1 looks good.

I like the new map of Virgin Shores, since it now includes Oilville 3.gif.

The DOT does not approve of a second class of national routes at this time, since there is no need for them, and may become cumbersome to manage in the future.

That was a lot of comments! I wish the DOT was this busy more often.

    Looking forward to Update 22.

Head of the Department of Transportation

Ooh... I like those pools. They're fine by me.

Ntq$310: Yep, I finally got the polls up.

    Jake: Cool. We'll be waiting.

ericlewis91: Do you have a BAT? A location? Gotta be more specific

JJC12321: It could be. We could vote on that too.

Hampi: Thanks. I built two of your coffee shops, one that I specifically showed, and then another by supercity's developments.

TimeMaster: Well actually I have the dependency in one of my SC4 working folders, and I'll install it today, so no use bulldozing it.

    Patricius Maximus: Good.
OK, I can do that, and maybe add some more foliage along it.
Well it pretty much is your area.
    I'll widen it then.
That area will get filled in.
OK, they'll be gone the next issue, but you will keep them in mind for the future, right?

    MEMORIAL HELD AT VIRGIN SHORES!

A total of 212,503 people attended the memorial. Island City mayor Matthew Green finished his term by

attending the event and stayed for 5 days in a beachside house next to one of the city's resort hotels. Here is one of Virgin Shores's residents of his point-of view of the event. "I survived Woodstock in the 1960's man, but I have never seen anything like that!" What a hippie! Matthew Green is now running for the city's newest branch, Department of Public Safety. Elections for the city this September. In other news, ledengary rapper Kanye West is supposted to make a concert stop In Virgin Shores. The concert will be held September 1st at the Outdoor theatre where the Island City Memorial was held at. Rapper wanna-bes and human-beatboxes are excited and are planning to riot if the city rejects it. Also Matthew Green got in a car crash today after he got T-boned by a red-light runner. He's Ok. But his Scion xB ain't. And also my car is on fire. Gotta leave so this is CNN Commiunst News Network. I'm Simmy Simdrix signing out.

Yes regular residential development for now, I'll make my original original proposal in the near future

Plus, wonderful update, everything is beautiful, especially Greta Springs Park Reserve. I like the new commercial development off the highway. hint hint (I might make an appearence in the district soon lol)

I was wondering how the sports complex is coming along, and what is this about an outdoor music venue, I didn't get any proposals for this yet???

Now i understand this is alot to understand, and not that good of a view, but i have a couple mega-proposals for virgin shores.

    2804713404_dc8831d8c1_o.jpg

    Please click for fullview!

But let's go down the list, i do understand no commercial development is being taken, but this is for the future seeing as most of this will most likly be taken in parts, if it is ever approved.

Beach Expansion- I know this has already been talked about, approved, ect.  But with a actually overview i can finally get a plan in. , so the white represents the wall, though road and street connections will go throwe it. While Green represents residential zones, nice beach area development. And the beaches are the peach colored.

The beaches will use a mix of these lot's

    ( Dtp's choice)

Resort District- Red is a park, while green is residential development, blue is commercial, though like ive said that's not for awhile.

ntq park- A large park marked in red, while the large commercial area is to insure that downtown type space is never in need in the future. Large amount of residential green around the park.

    Some other things, peach=Beach, black=Road, lightgrey=Street.

Also the name of the virgin shores bank hq will be changed to hq of Virgin Shores holding group, which is the name of the group that owns my company's. Im doing this change because i will like to make "Virgin Shores real estate and development company" Or just "Virgin Shores real estate" for short. The company if approved, is looking for small offices, once commercial development continues.

I will also like to apoligize to the planning for the headache ive just given theme9.gif

And that all zones will be very open to building proposals.
