T Wrecks once again thanks for your advice you have given me plenty to think about and experiment with. No need to apologize at all you have been a big help. Thanks.44.gif

Any new updates on Belgravia for Calibat? I'm new to the UK project, am in LOVE (this coming from a NYer) and have downloaded just about all of your bats. This one just really pique's my interest.

    Hi UrbanLatinFemale

Welcome to my thread glad you like it. The Belgravia Bat, that was a long while ago. It got started and then I got distracted by another Bat because I didn't think I was quite up to doing Belgravia justice at the time. I'll have a look and see if I can resurect it and work on that as well as the bats for Dannibee

It's been a long time since I visited New York, it must be at least 12 years or so ago. I stayed at the Lexington hotel (not very good) do you know it?

    regards

Yes I've heard of the Lexington but I've not stayed in many hotels downtown (manhattan). Sadly, like a lot of folks from the US, I've not travelled overseas. But as soon as I do, it's London, France and my ancestral land, Spain.

Glad I re-ignited whatever fire was left there. 2.gif

    Update

I have started working on the properties for lot 2. The first one will be a right-handed version of the first house on lot one only with a few changes. I have yet to decide what will be the second property on this lot bit I am looking at Google streets at the moment.

Sorry for the small mount of progress but here is lot 2 property one Started.

    lot2prop1.jpg

Of course it's essentially the same house but it will look different once lotted.

    Regards

I was thinking what kind of Residential type it would be, regarding the area it should probably be R$-R$$. Although maybe it could be R$$$, any thoughts on that?

No, we don't. 9.gif Or perhaps I should say now we don't. 3.gif

Back to topic, that latest preview looks great, I don't have any suggestions at this time. TBH, it took me a while to fully appreciate the quality of BATs in the style that gascooker has been following - and that you are currently continuing. I always found that they were rather nice houses, but that was all. It was not before a trip to Luton to visit a former fellow student that I realised just how precise these recreations were. My first thought when the taxi reached the suburb where my friend was living back then was "Holy cow, has all this been made by gascooker? It looks just like SimCity!" 17.gif Well, gascooker hasn't made any more suburb houses, but you have reached pretty much the same quality level, I'd say. 44.gif Keep up the great work!

    Update

The basic properties for lot 2 are now built. The first one  I have shown above but alongside it now I can show you the second property for lot 2 (on the left). It may still be subject to modifications as I start to work on the lot and get a feel for the way I want it to look.

    bdlot2.jpg

A quick reminder of lot one for comparison:-

    NewCity-19Nov371266441540.jpg

I want to achieve the same feel as the first lot.  In reality though much of these properties look the same so the variety will be in the lot itself. However that said the 2 new houses do have some differences.

    Regards

These are fantastic, the new layout of the edge props works really well, the new properties look just as polished too.

it looks great mntoes! I like the change of roof texture (as much as I am a fan of tiled roofs in game)

A side note: I have been using your houses in game but have found the polstein? (or whatever it's called) road pack have too dark roofs to blend in with the game imo, which is a shame because they're great looking houses. Maybe one day in the future you might consider just desaturating the roof on those...? Feel free to tell me to get stuffed also ;-)

Wow, they are great houses. I currently live in Manchester and these bats remind me of all them student houses in the beautiful north 2.gif . They look absolutly faboulous but maybe (and that is just me going off on my own tangent lol) you could make them more terrace house style? Anyway, nice work!

Thanks, I worked hard on getting the new layout to look good. It must have worked.

thingfishs   Thanks for your comments. That's a big ask and wont't happen any time soon but maybe one day.

Dannibee   I am sorry this has run over my estimated timescale. I hope you are OK with me taking more time on this.

iGod        Thanks. I have made one lot of terrace house (on the stex). I plan on doing some modern terrace style housing but it's way down the list as I have so much work backed up. I just want to finish what I have first before starting anything new.

    Update.

Progress on lot 2 for Dannibee. I have been working on finding and improving some textures for the lot. I have taken out as much as I am able the tiled look on the driveways. Although you can still see ut a bit beleive me they are better that the original.

I have spent ages working on the van under the portico. To be honest It didn't work out that well. Aything more that standard primatives in Gmax and I strugle. I simply could not find a Gmax vehicle tutorial. Lots for 3ds max but not Gmax!. I know the idea is basically the same but 3ds max has so many more features to make it easier. Well it's not too bad a result I hope 34.gif.

RL has ment less progress than I would have hoped but I am pleased with it so far.

    Regards

    Mntoes.

    update

Time for a quick update so Dannibee is kept up-to-date with goings on.

Lot 2 is almost finished I just need to think of some original props to make so it looks good. In the mean time the first property for lot 3 has been started.

    lot3prop1.jpg

This house is just a few yards away from the others on another road. The textures are not set yet but it gives an idea of the finished thing.

The more I wander around Google streets the more I see that I want to Bat to add to this pack. I have a feeling that I won't be able to resist that temptation!

    regards

can you explain a bit more? I have used four alternate textures so far and varied the shape a bit of each?  If I understand what you want I will try to meet your request.

Thanks for the link.  If I copy some of those shown on street view then that should add a bit more variation.

You shouldn't link me to Google streets, the fingers want to Bat even more...lol 29.gif

Silur Thanks, glad to make someone happy.

I've just started playing with gmax and it's driving me scatty! LoL

The outskirts of my nearest city, Gloucester, is full of these older type buildings you're currently working on .. so glad you are.

If you were thinking of what to put on some of the frontages, there are 3 that immediately come to mind .. a caravan, a motor home and the ubiquitous builders skip!

Usually I hate little houses, cause I want everything to look like Hong Kong. However I noticed that when you are modelling the drive in and the garage with those neat details I noticed it looks wayyy better than the LOT Editor props and textures. However looks like you are using some custom LODs - becareful that the more complex the LODs are the more CPU resources are needed.

    Lookin good.

    I love coffee and buildings.

Sorry but not much progress to show so no picture I'm afraid.

Thanks, I suppose the more I try the better I'll get.  Glad you like it.

    Pozzessed

Welcome to my thread. Keep trying Gmax is not an instinctive program but if you persevere you'll get there. I did a skip for my last housing pack. The idea of a caravan is worth thinking about. Thanks

    jacqulina

Hi good to hear from you again. Hope you are well.

    bixel

Hello and thanks for dropping by.  Thanks also for the kind comments43.gif.  I have heard about problems with custom LOD's wich is why I am not using them.  I am simply making props that can be seen through the existing LOD's with a bit of carefull placement.  It takes a bit of practice but it does work.

    Dannibee

Don't worry I have not abandoned your project. RL has caught up with me  in a big way and I am spending far too much time at work. I will finish this for you

    Thanks all again
