Thanks guys for all of your comments, I'm afraid I wouldn't have enough time to reply to all of you but thank you all for comments! Also thanks to those of you who nominated me for a Trixie 4.gif

I redid Santa Leon back to a layout that was more like my previous version:

    Santa-Leon-Jul_01.jpg

    Santa-Leon-Jul_02.jpg

Santa Leon is one of the most important seaports in northern South America and the Caribbean.

    SantaLeon-Jul23091234031098.jpg

Here is the Casco Viejo, which is where the Cathedral, Castle, and Capitol building are located around Plaza Bolivar.

    SantaLeon-Jul23091234031111.jpg

The old town of Santa Leon is filled with colorful Spanish colonial buildings lining narrow streets. The small streets are lined with cafes, shops, and family-run hotels.

    SantaLeon-Jul23091234031135.jpg

In the middle of the Plaza Bolivar is the statue of Simon Bolivar, the "George Washington of South America" He has many statues all throughout South America, especially in Colombia, Venezuela, and Mesias.

    SantaLeon-Jul23091234031050.jpg

The Plaza del Leon Santo, literally "Place of the Holy Lion" which contains a large collumn in the middle with a statue of a lion on top. The large palace was originally inhabited by the royal Family who would occasionally take vacations here with their royal ship. Eventually some of the royal family members stayed in Mesias and they became the local royalty. The Iglesia Real next to the palace was where the royal family members would attend mass.

    Thanks for reading!

Sorry I've been gone for a while, I've been kinda busy with other things. However I couldn't resist opening up SimCity4 and building Mesias.

MOAR pics of Santa Leon 9.gif

    SantaLeon-Jul23091234994341.jpg

The Catedral de San Francisco de Asis is one of the largest cathedrals in all of South America, and could seat the entire old town inside it (at least several hundred years ago anyways) It was built in the late 1700s when the city of Santa Leon became a New World trading power.

    SantaLeon-Mar11111235073455.jpg

The long Avenida del Sol starts in the Casco Viejo and then splits into the city's CBD. In the area where old town meets new, there is the headquarters for Telesegundo, the largest television and entertainment company in Mesias. They own the triangular building and also another studio on the other side of the city.

Here is a magazine that they own and print out:

At night the city is lively and traffic gets horrible as people go home from work. Often the more well-off people go out with their families to nice restaurants for several hours, and then later go home to get some sleep. The poorer people often dine out at their family or neighbor's house.

And a mosaic of the Old Casco Viejo at night:

Heh.... sorry for not posting here for a while, I had a bit of Real Life Syndrome. 3.gif I'm also working on some other projects on the side, like an American city. 38.gif

This update is about the not-so-pretty parts of Santa Leon

    Santa-Leon-May_01.jpg

    Santa-Leon-May_02.jpg

One of Santa Leon's airport runways runs very close to the city, and every day large airplanes hover above the jumbled up houses of the poorer outskirt neighborhoods. As you can probably imagine, the land value right in front of the runway is pretty low.

    SantaLeon-Jun7121236055667.jpg

Most of the poor neighborhoods are jumbled with old colonial-style houses and shops and more modern buildings. Most people drive old junk cars that they've owned for a couple of decades. There also tends to be alot of garbage on the side of the streets. The stench doesn't stop young kids who play games with what little they have.

    SantaLeon-Jul7121236056155.jpg

Here is a slummy block in the middle of the city. The housing here is under risk of being demolished by a very wealthy entertainment company that wants to turn the block into a shopping and entertainment center. Of course the current residents of the neighborhood would be stuck having to relocate or live homeless, which is why many are up in arms about it. The Socialist Party of Mesias is highly involved in stopping any construction on the site and is widely supported despite their often radical views.

Hmmm... a nice shopping center might be a good boost for the area.
