Thanks for the new version!  I'm glad to see it is till being worked on!   AND DAMN>> Avenue on/offramps would be sweet!!!  Avenue to Avenue, Avenue to Road, Avenue to parallell road, and Avenue to parallel one way road should be priorities!

Well it's still possible to do with puzzle pieces and one-way roads, though not as smooth and space-saving.

Woo hoo! One of the many improvements in the new NAM is that you can now see the image of the TGC stack before you place it, you can rotate it 90 degrees, and you can build development right next to it. Just the improvements to the TGC stack alone are significant. Thanks Tropod and everyone else! 44.gif

an elevated highway enters the town for a large tech center. shortly after entering the city, i change it to ground highway running north to south. about the middle of the town, i have an on/off ramp on both sides of the highway. 5 or 6 tiles down this road is a street with about 15 houses, nothing too much. i run it for about 3 months with utilities and a couple of parks and the sims can't find jobs although there are jobs for people with their skills to the south of it. running 10 tiles over the highway, i have an avenue running north/south with a connection to the road that goes into the main city. the road, avenue and highways all show no congestation or volume.

When will these NAM updates begin showing up in the Modding Files section?  It still has the Sept 4, 2004 version.  These updates are difficult to find even when you know where to look! Any plans to some updates soon?  Thanks.

Sorry about Double Posting but is there any information about having the new Light rail mod will mess with the NAM.

EDIT: Yes, that was what it was the new Lightrail mod and the NAM don't work together. Don't use the new NAM if you are using the light rail mod.

kassarc16 hit the nail on his head - the NAM has been labeled as beta from the very beginning, and that hasn't changed since then. A mod is ready when someone puts it in the Simtropolis modding section or onto the STEX, but all those alpha and beta mods posted in the forums are mainly for testing purposes. Tropod did a great effort with documenting every issue in the extensive readme files that come with the NAM, but currently, no such document exists for the GLR mod. We decided to make the GLR mod available for everyone who reads the thread, but as said before, it's more intended for testing purposes (the more testers, the faster we can catch the remaining bugs). We're still in the development stage, and therefore additions and changes are likely to happen. You're welcome to join the team, but keep in mind some things don't work as intended yet, and there's always a chance to crash the game.

There are many BETA mods and apps in the modding section of Simtropolis and the old NAM there is more unstable than the later versions.

By the way, the biggest problems on network/ traffic modding are compatibility issues. The major problem are the rul files - one file with static IID describing everything what has to do with network tiles. In the past we had to release versions/bugfixes for the GLR to be used together with different NAM versions; with TGC stack and without TGC stack. If a new NAM version is out, we have to create an update to be compatible with it.

Does someone with more experience know if there is a way to cascade the RUL files with IIDs 0x1000000-0x1000002 so that MODs like the GLR can be developed more independant of the NAM by using RUL files with declarations not overriding the RUL files in the NAM?

I've got a small question for the modders out there.

I've taken a look into the automata dat file, as I'm looking to change the min-max value for frieght trains. I've found the thing I need to change, I just don't know what to type in.

I really like those intersections, they give the avenues the Highway feeling which I use very often. I hope they get finished.

than you don't have on/off ramps?

Dragonanime, I hope too. Actually the avenues are just some kind of simplified highways, so why not have these connections?48.gif

Zdog, I haven't finished the mod yet. The only parts that work currently are the orthagonal intersections that are shown. I haven't finished the diagonal intersections yet.

Wow, does it really take someone who's been under a rock for 6 months to answer this?

Five Day Rental, it sounds like you're using a pre-RH version of one of the transit mods. That's why your sims don't use the networks that were introduced with Rush Hour. There are newer versions of the transit mods available in the mods section -- look under Essentials first.
