I think deep down we know that at some point the new version will be released its just a question of when and how patient we can all be. RL doesn't revolve around these projects rather these projects revolve around RL!

I agree, bearmans. I would just like to see some visible progress. They put up the NAM showcase thread to keep us pacified and to show us stuff was happening, but that just died. I wanna see what I get to look forward to!

Yes, those were made by ArkenbergeJoe, and they are basically done. He already posted a few screenshots a while ago - so it's not that we wouldn't showcase new stuff. 2.gif

As I have said several times in several posts, be thankful for what we have got. If it wasnt for the NAM team we wouldnt be able to have turning lanes, new interchanges for highways, a GLR network and better pathfinding (just to name a few things). I'm quite sastified with what we've got so far and will be until the next installment. Until then, just remember these people are doing this out of there own free will and make the game a whole lot better.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who help created the NAM!

Question to the public (regarding NAM):

So what is the final version of the NAM? Link? And can anyone explain how the:

* Transit Bugfix Supplement V1.2.1

* Transit Supermod V2.0 (RH Patch1)

* Transit BugFix V1.1.3

... found in the essential mods list on Simtropolis affect or fix or work with or conflict with the main final NAM? Thanks!

There is no "final" version of the NAM, only a beta - but it has been tested extensively and works very well, apart from the bugs that can't be fixed. But there are some workarounds, so please refer to the readme file how to avoid them. The october 2005 version is the most current one, and it can be found in the "Modds & Downloads" section. If you install the NAM, you have to remove all old transit mods and bugfixes, such as the ones you mentioned. They are included into the NAM. A complete list of all incompatible files can be found in the NAM readme.

Thanks Andreas. That clears it all up. 4.gif

I guess i need to open the readme to find out if it includes cul de sacs and other transportation related additions that i have been seeing in the MODs section.

Are there ANY other well-known, well-tested, transportation MODs that add something to the game that is not (yet) in the NAM (October 2005)?

Cougar2004: there is the amazing high speed rail project. It replaces the monorail so if you use monorail in your cities you would have to rebuild it all as it is not compatible with existing monorail. click here

Hi,

Is there a way to get a personal IID range so I can make my own custom bridges.

I am also thinking of re-arranging the Lamp post system, so that Motorways and streets have their own type of lamp post.

Thanks

Somehow my road top mass transit was deleted. I removed all the files that I had downloaded since the last time that it properly worked and it still is not working. What is wrong?

try uninstalling the road top MT without installing the files you've already removed, reinstalling it, then replacing and testing the effects of the files one at a time to find the conflict

as far as i know, the two do not conflict (or at least, they never have for me) so i presume it must be something other than NAM, but correct me if i'm wrong

Simple NAM Question:  Does that NAM (2005) include the Street Cul-de-sac Mod

Qurlix icon

Street Cul-de-sac Mod

by Qurlix

August 29, 2004

I see the 2004 date is older than the 2005 NAM.  If this is not included in the NAM, then Does anyone know if this mod is compatible after installing the NAM?  Thanks.

Thank you Swamper! So if i like the cosmetic look, then i should use it.

Are there any mods that 'improve' upon things in the NAM, but yet are still compatible with the NAM so not to break anything? (and of course i mean mods that aren't included in the NAM already.) I bet there is one or two... like i read something about a road top mass transit, and i thought that would be part of the NAM too... but now im not so sure.

road top mass transit can be very useful and as far as i know, is compatible with the NAM

the NoOneWayRoadArrows Mod is only cosmetic but gets rid of those annoying arrows

the RHW (Rural Highway Mod) replaces the ANT network with a rural highway, great if you're after realism.

road top MT and the NoArrows Mod are available on Simtropolis

download the RHW here, and the discussion thread is here

hope that helps

In addition to the cogeos' RTMT: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=road%20top%20mass%20transit&type=all you probably want to have his PedMall compatible transit pack too: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=pedmall&type=all

Other recommendations:

Pedestrian Mall Connectors: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=mall%20connector&type=all

Roundabout fillers: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=roundabout&type=all

If you'll be using GLR, you will need to download some stations and transitions to other networks: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=124&threadid=75809&enterthread=y and maybe a tram skin: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=tram&type=all

If you'll be using elevated rail, you will need stations for that: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=tram&type=all

However, please note the difference between elevated light rail (ELR), which is standard in Rush Hour and elevated (heavy) rail, which is included in NAM. It is not always clear if an entry in STEX is this or that...

Great responses! I'm taking each suggestion up and trying them out.

But what does ANT stand for? How about GLR? Thanks.

ANT stands for Alternate Additional Network Tool. It is an optional plugin for NAM, and is an unfinished Maxis network, revealed by the NAMmers, so it appears as a road, but with similar speed and capacity to highways. It is a dependency for the Rural Highway which makes it a two lanes in each direction highway.

GLR stands for Ground Light Rail, which is really Elevated Rail modded to appear on the ground. The NAM doesn't include any stations for it, but there are several good ones on the STEX.

I have the RHW mod for my ANT network, but lets say I didn't have it. What would I be able to do with it? When I didn't have the RHW mod it just looked like a street.
