instead of making all these different type of interchanges, cant you make onramps to act like roads in regards to making them only. you know click and drag, the creation shouldnt have to be a one drag thing. i mean so that way we can turn them and create those circular ramps everyone wants. maybe also a piece for ending a highway although that can already be easily done. with one ways. so my request is a draging on/off ramp that is a one size fits all. meaning no need for different ones to attach to the different styles of roads. as if it's its own road type style. does this make any sense to anyone.

It makes sense to me (reminds me of Railroad Tycoon 3), however, I don't think that SC4 can be modified in that way.

oh poo.....maybe that will be including in sc5 along with the grid changes i heard about. i read somewhere i think on the official site....that in sc5 since technology moves fast they might be able to have the grid change along with the direction of the road. example? sure diagnol roads will be able to have buildings facing them.

Tropod:I figured out my reluctant folder problem. I had it in so many sub-folders that it was basically locked in place. This time, I saved it to the desktop.2.gif

    Ok; I've reverted some things back the way they were;
    Same guidelines/criteria as per before [see the previous page];
    Except now, it only applies to Custom content created, & not Maxis originals.
    So just the Ped Mall Tiles; Puzzle Pieces, and custom highway ramps.

    I was owndering if curved roads or highways would be possible?. I know you cant build next to them but was thinking the added feature would add some realism. Keep up the great work you are doing here.

    as far as i know you can already make curves. you just have to know how. theres a certain way to get the curves instead of those annoying 90degrees turns when you want to diagnol a road. you can see the shadow form the curve. trial and error is all i have to say about that.

    Would anyone consider single lane one way roads? The double lane one way roads are great for cities, but in the burbs, these are rare.

    Thoughts?

    And I plan to start getting into batting (I've already looked over the basics) so barring any unforseen difficulties, I may be able to assist. :)

    Its been done in real suburbs. Off the highway near my home they have one way roads in niegbor hoods. Just sucks if your job is one way but the road only goes the other.1.gif

    Ok, well.......seeing as how I've heard bugger all from anyone, apart from punkz6 [thankyou btw2.gif], I'll post some screenies myself.

    Ped Mall Tiles can now be placed on unlevel/uneven terrain; and can also be placed next to each even where there is uneven/unlevel terrain;
    [look closely at it]
    post-2-1089956255.jpg

    And if the pic above isn't clear enough; here is Puzzle Pieces; which can now also be placed on unlevel/uneven terrain; and can also be placed next to each even where there is uneven/unlevel terrain;
    [note the difference in height with the terrain]
    post-2-1089956552.jpg

    This may give-way for some really weird set-ups, but it's the only way to overcome the current Terrain limitation with these items. But this really does open a whole other door of possibilities.

    Would it be possible for the pieces to still attach to each other no matter the terrain, but to flatten the terrain just a bit so that we don't have weird slopes and curves like in that picture on the avenue?

    Maybe........I'll have a look [no promises]. If not though, well still it's better than being restricted to flat level terrain 2.gif. Either way really, I wouldn't see a problem, since if you wanted the terrain flattered a bit more, &/or the Puzzle Pieces to join up more smoothly, well then you'd just make the terrain smooth(er) first before placing these down, as they'll pretty much conform to the terrain 100% [well maybe not 100% all of the time, but pretty much].

    Ok; something you have all been wanting & waiting for; Dual-Networks [DN]; by DN I'm refering to two different networks occupying the same stretch of tiles; for example;
    R
    R
    R
    R
    R
    R= both Road & Rail. Rail on top, road underneath [or some other variation of this].
    Others might include double-decker networks;
    OWR
    OWR
    OWR
    OWR
    OWR
    OWR = Two levels of onewayroad. One level going in one direction, the other level going in the opposite direction [or again, some other variation of this].

    Now of course; to do DN, some very special pieces need to be made; these are namely the Start/End pieces for DN, so that the networks involved can break-off properly. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; I sux at Bat; I'm able to use it, but I'm not nearly as good with it as some of you others are. So basically, if none-one bothers to help out with this, well DN will not be done, simple as that.

    I would be interested to see some concept pieces done by people if anyone has some ideas for the Start/End Pieces.

    And now, well......I am going to press forward with Rail Puzzle Pieces;
    post-2-1089992948.jpg

    Here's what's going to happen with these;
    Once the Rail Puzzle Pieces are implemented into the Main Mod; then a new thread can be started if people like, where others can design/bat/change all they like to their hearts content their own viaduct pieces, & REPLACE the mods' ones. For now, this is how I intend to have it planned [unless anyone can think of a better idea].

    Any questions regarding any of this, don't hesitate to ask [or PM-preferably only PM me though for technical questions thanks].

    If you can make all these things elevated can't you come out with a mod that would make a groung highway sunken? Instead of ruining my terrain trying to sink em?

    No suggestion, no request, just another compliment...

    I had the first or second version of this mod for a long time and I just downloaded the newest version. I must say I've never been as extatic about something I downloaded on Simtrop as when I installed this.  Outstanding job you (guys) are doing!

    As for the DN, I think a great idea would be to make it an elevated highway on top and feeder lanes below (basically just an avenue). For interchanges, it could use an exit-only system, so tiles on the side wouldn't have to be used. This possible????

    That's a good idea, robk.  It sort of reminds me of double-decker highways.  For example, IH 35 in Austin, TX has a double-deck section that works almost just like what robk suggested.

    I do wonder, though . . . . if we have the ability to construct side entrance/exit ramps from elevated highways to the avenues directly underneath (if this dual network stuff does work).

    It'll be exciting to watch, no doubt about that.  Best of luck to the NAM Squad on this one.

    Well as I said; I'd be interested in seeing some concept pieces being done by people; preferably in/from BAT/Gmax.........they don't have to be 100% accurate, or perfect. Just some ideas to throw around. So as for your idea; well I'm having a bit of trouble visualising it really.

    Ok, time to spend a little time in the BAT..................It probably won't look pretty (lol), but it'll hopefully get my idea across.

    Unfortuneately, I've had time to do a short test of this new file yesterday, but I won't have time, nor will I have time this upcoming week to post my pics. I will have to re-format all of them and re-size a few of them (their dimensions are 1024X768). An I won't have time for a while, but I plan to do it.

    What ever happened to that stack exchange that The_Great_Chozo has been working on? 4.gif It looks like there aren't any discussions on this anymore,  I was really interested in that. Anyway is it still in the works or it has been canceled? 42.gif

    Here is a really rough image of what a highway on top of avenue could look like:
    pictureofinterchange.jpg alt=Image Hoste

    Like I said this is REALLY rough, and has no textures, and is only a.......model really, for what this could look like if any good modeler decided to go through with a good modeling of it.
