I wonder, but is it possible to make an on and off ramps for avenues and one way roads? They could be like rural parkways and highways. This is something that I always wanted for my rural cities and I really dislike using the highway for almost all of my cities. So is it possible?

Sorry about the little pathfile mix-up. I have attached a small file that should correct the problem. Please let me know if it does or doesn't help.

Thanks,

-red

*EDIT* Forgot to mention that you should unzip the file into the same directory as the main mod.

I applied the fix into the same place as the main mod but it doesn't work. I let the game run for nearly 2 years and there is no change.

Would it be possible to make overpasses for this style?

/idealbb/files/Rail Overpass1.jpg

/idealbb/files/Highway Overpass1.jpg

If not, that's too bad...I still miss sunken highways 1.gif

If that's not possible, can the length of the train overpass can be doubled? The change in grade is really steep. More like the slope on the el-monorail overpass would be great 44.gif

I would absolutly love this to be a reality. It is such a common overpass all over the country! In fact, this could make rail over road a realistic option. I grew up in Manville, NJ that had two such rail over road overpasses at opposite ends of town.

Okay ... Tropod ... here's an interesting request.  Could you possibly make a version of the mod that is the mere 'new stuff'?  Like having the stack interchange, but no traffic mods, no additional network stuff and that sort of thing.  Am I the only one who would be interested in that?  I just can't go without DM's mod and I've tried all the other versions: I've come close but none of them really 'force' my Sims to utilize mass transit like they do now.  I don't know why ... 8.gif

Once again, I apologize.  I was at work and couldn't test my last patch to make sure that it actually worked.15.gif

It looks like an old bug has managed to find its way back into the mod.  I have attached a new patch that will clear up the problem.  This time, the fix has actually been tested before release.39.gif

As always, don't forget to delete the previous patch and unzip this file into the same directory as the main modd.

That seems considerably more realistic than columns rising out of the ground. In fact, thats the only thing I see around where I live.

As far as I know (from observation) highways tend to only rise only at major junctions, well most of the time anyway.

mexicanboy13r, you can use my hole digging lots (in the STEX) to create a
sunken highway. One way to form the trench is to plop the ground highway
digging lot on every other tile in a line, and then drag a ground highway
over them.  Or you can use a row of single tile streets to extend an initial
hole into a trench. PM me if this is not clear.

Back on topic...

One of my lots can also lift up ramps.  This makes me interested in
this kind of intersection. (ramps and sunken highways)

I think that intersections involving sunken highways (or rail, etc.), raised
ramps, and underpasses could all be done if there was an additional kind
of end puzzle piece.

The piece should one tile long, flat topped, and designed to rest on the
sloped side of the trench, ramp, etc.

/idealbb/files/extra

I have circled an example of rough approximation of what I think
this piece should look like.

Would this be difficult to do?

Ok, well here's some improvements I've made [they will be included in the next main update]. These items, set-ups, were previously not possible, but now they are 2.gif

Now, while these won't affect any current cities, any existing Elevated Highways '+' type junctions will probably need to be demolished in order to take advantage of the above 1st & 2nd pic. There is no [other] way to overcome this minor detail.

p.s. btw; I totally forgot [to mention] about an improvement I added with a previous version 5.gif43.gif. Ground Highway '+' type junction [should] have an added Rotation with it.

Have you guys talking about the sunken overpasses even read the thread? Look around page 7.

It's on the way, but I believe Tropod has set it aside for the moment.

Amazing work Tropod 2.gif, but is it possible that you can modify the highways so that they go in one direction. Like six lane highways?

this looks nice, will the one way road pass under the highway in a similar manner?  Also, is it possible to have the one way road go under the overpasses where 2 highways cross to make it look like a realistic intersection of the frontage roads?

I usually don't venture into the Modding forums much, but the buzz brought me in to see this one.  I have to say, this is absolutely incredible.  If I wasn't looking at it, I wouldn't believe it.  You all's discoveries are the biggest breakthrough made in SimCity yet, and probably ever.  This is just simply extraordinarily great...so great.  Keep up the excellent work!

    @The_New_Vlad

Yes and no; well more no really than yes. Don't expect it happening [anytime soon if at all].

    @FireSka;
Not really sure what you mean? The other [ground] networks will be able to go like the avenue has, if that's what you mean. The picture was merely an example.

    @cyber_256;
Perhaps you'd care to elaborate with what you mean? A dedicated Bus-way may be possible, but in some ways rather quite pointless really [as Buses currently don't create any congestion-so removing that would be pointless].

Anyhow.......here's some more stuff that'll find its way into the next update
[they're actually seperate; I've just done them like this with the set up I had, testing them]

The buslane has already been made by UrbanLegend. I don't use it but his 'no truck' signs I find handy.

What I still would like to see in the game is a one way-street. The capacity of a normal street is too low and I don't want to place roads/one way roads everywhere in my med.dens. cities

edit: apologies for the double post, I assure you this was NOT intended 20.gif

Thanks for that people. I just needed a busway to make things more realistic in my city, see in my city Adelaide we dont have a train line going from the CBD to the eastern suburbs, so instead a busway/Obahn is used. BTW Keep up the good work. 44.gif

Tropod, I am reffering to like this diagram I drew.  The yellow lines represent the one way roads on either side of the highways.  I like to put one way roads as frontage roads in my game and I was wondering if it is possible to have them cross like that under the overpass rather than having to draw the roads all the way around the overpass in an unrealistic fashion.

Also, whoever is creating the single on ramps, is it possible to have single side on ramps to one way road so that I may make realistic highway entrances and exits?  I would like to create similar to this...
    /idealbb/files/ex2.jpg
Whereas, the black dark lines are the elevated highway, the yellow are the one way roads on either side, the blue is the crossing road or avenue, and the red are the onramps.

Here is a screenshot I edited to clairify:

Tropod i was wondering if you could make a  new rail network that has only one rail track on a 1x1 tile instead of 2 because alot of the rails in my hometown  are single tracks by themselves i just think it would be alot more realistic to have this in the game10.gif
